1. Israel's Downward Spiral
Marcel ,   Florida   (07.18.07)
Ever since the hunt for peace began Israel has grown weak and divided. There is nothing the Israeli 'peace' camp will not do for this elusive peace. Kadima Labor and Likud have all dived like moths into the fire for a empty promises of peace. The JEWISH prophet Daniel wrote of a future time in Israel where a powerful and devious ruler would destroy many by peace. This is happening now before our eyes as P.M. Olmert wants to prove that he is more suicidal than the other suicidal Israeli politicians. Only God can rescue Israel from her downward spiral for a fasle peace which endangers her survival.
2. Common decency and responsibilty
Sagi ,   Israel   (07.18.07)
Halutz had both, I salute him for this. He stood up and was counted and went. Peretz had neither, I despise him for this.He tried to hold on and with great reluctance gave up. Olmert will now show his true colors. I believe he will do his utmost to stay in power. He will blame everyone and anyone he can. He will twist and turn, manipulate the facts and compromise the truth. In the end he will be forced out. The sooner the better for this Nation. The time has come for change. Very radical change. Change in the way our leaders are elected and change in the way those leaders appoint civil servants. If this change does not come the continuation of the status quo will inevitably lead to disaster, a disaster from which we will not arise again.
3. Agree 100%
Resident of the nort ,   Haifa Israel   (07.18.07)
As someone who went through the war last summer I agree 100% with every word. For this incompetence alone Olmert should go home. 1 small example--My wife who works at a hospital was told that she had to report for work every day. No provision was made for transport, and several times she had to take cover going to work because of missile attacks. My friend who is in the career navy was told to stay home because it was too dangerous to come to work.
4. Olmert Failed, Period.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (07.18.07)
The only thing he didn't fail at is staying in office, at least temporarily. His success is to delay elections thus thwarting the opinion of 97% of the electorate. The only thing Olmert could do that would get a 100% approval rating is resign.
5. Olmert The Left and the fools
Jack ,   USA   (07.18.07)
They must leave office now!!! Israel is facing the most serious threat to its existance in the comming weeks, months, Netanyahu must be elected and take the reins before it is too late.
6. War report
Roxy ,   Israel(Northern)   (07.18.07)
Again a report telling us residents of the North what we already have known, not only did Olmert fail to protect the Homefront, but the entire knesset is to blame as well. The "Buck " stops with the entire government, they knew what was going on in the north and not one single knesset member spoke up, or visited during the war! Now with the hint of another war, the government is failing the homefront again, we still don't have new gas masks,or shelters that are habitable for long periods of time, not to mention no chemical suits have been provided for any of us northern residents.Yet we all know that the Knesset members and their families all have had their gas masks replaced, have chem. suits and have access to the best stocked shelters in the country, aren't the rest of us deserving of the same level of protection too?
7. olmert: abject failure. proven, yet again. why still PM?
dante ,   uk   (07.18.07)
8. Winograd not incisive
Nora ,   Tel Aviv   (07.18.07)
Accusations only and no "Gun to temple" as Winogradists used to reveal lately. So, what will they do with all this report? Shelve it? Throw it into the dust bin? Convince the public that there is no "Public Interest" ? Transfer responsibility to another committee ? What a deception.
9. Neglect conitnues
eddie ,   London UK   (07.18.07)
The spiral of neglect just goes on, now olmert releases terorists, including one of Rehavam Zeevi's killers. The next step is the growth of Fatahland, and a 3rd intifada. The next comptoller will see why katyushas landed on tel aviv.
10. Olmert, Livno, & Co., have to RESIGN NOW!
Nannette ,   London   (07.18.07)
Israel needs a strong, democratic government, whose main concern should be the protection of the Israelis, not the opinion of internationals. Israel needs patriotic, solid leaders, who will implement a proper constitution, change the way elections are held, and allow Israelis to have proportional voting by electing their local MKs, instead of voting for one party. If this happens, a lot of corruption will disappear overnight, because no-one will vote for anyone with dirt on their hands. Get a new government who will protect the people, the land, and won't be manipulated by the international leaders who don't care about Jews! Governments (even dictatorships), serve by the whim of the people. Its called a social contract. The people agree to pay taxes, follow laws etc., and the government agrees to protect the people's lives and property. Unfortunately, Olmert doesn't adhere to a social contract, he just wants his salary paid from the taxes, kickbacks, fountain pens, and any other "perks". The following clearly illustrates why Israel needs a new government ASAP - and for Olmert to be kicked out, not just from the government, but from the country - minus all the kickbacks he's taken, of course! How can anyone have faith in a leader who says the following: "A country cannot protect itself ad infinitum, because there would be no end to it." -- from a recent statement by Ehud Olmert "We are tired of fighting, we are tired of being courageous, we are tired of winning, we are tired of defeating our enemies..." -- Ehud Olmert
11. Olmert failed homefront BECAUSE
Rivka ,   Jerusalem   (07.18.07)
when your G-d is George and Condi Bush you become a puppet so what you see is what you get.
12. YA, RELEASE A BUNCH OF TERRORISTS THEN RESIGN IN SHAME
David P. ,   usa   (07.18.07)
AND REPLACED WITH WHO
13. OLMERT YOU KNOW YOU ARE A LOSER THAT CARE ONLY ABOUT MONEY.
OLMERT+KADIMA=OUT ,   usa   (07.18.07)
STEP DOWN.
14. OLMERT FAILED HOME FRONT
HENRYK ,   RAMAT GAN/ISRAEL   (07.18.07)
WHAT YOU EXPECT HE IS NOT JAPANESE HE DOES NOT HAVE TO TAKE RESPONSABILITY
15. To #5 Jack - Olmert yes Bibi NO!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (07.18.07)
As you point out you are from the USA. I would suggest your fix up your own problems before fixing up ours. Start with the White House, please! Next, I agree whole heartedly that Olmert MUST go but that is for US Israelis to decide and not for the good Citizens of the USA. You elect yours, we elect ours! While some might agree or disagree about Olmert's responsibilities on the military front there is no doubt the he failed the home front. However, he is no more to blame for that than his predecessors. The Galilee was and still is Israel's stepchild and the people in Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv only remember that we exist when the shells start to fall and people die! As for Bibi, I would suggest to examine in great depth the hardship that your revered friend Netanyahu caused the less fortunate’s, the sick and handicapped here in Israel. Please come and see how the Holocaust survivors, the people who came from the Concentration Camps and who built the State of Israel, have to eke out a living, eat garbage and die in misery. A lot of this suffering is due to Netanyahu's economic policies. I am no Socialist be I do believe that in a Capitalist Democracy the State has an obligation to see to the welfare of those who cannot fend for themselves! I voted for Bibi once and what ensued was one of the most corrupt governments this little land has ever known. Never again! As for an election, well it will just be a waste of time and NIS100 million down the drain. The status quo will be just that!
