1. The Real Obscenity Is Shas In Gov't.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (07.21.07)
If you believe, as I do, that the Olmert gov't. is a real threat to our security, then you can only see the participation of Shas in the coalition as far more obscene than any dirty pictures on the internet. The same goes for Lieberman This bunch of religious hypocrites is akin to some parasitic infestation of our gov't. They're only around to see how much money they can suck out of the budget for their own brainwashing institutions. They constantly use "red herring" moral issues, like this censorship law or opposition to gay parades, to whip up support among socially more conservative voters under the guise of religion, a cynical manipulation to gain votes. But when it comes to anything meaningful, any issue that has serious consequences, but that might require some sacrifice on their part, principles are jettisoned in a flash. Religious wheeler-dealers is an appropriate description.
2. Big Brother
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (07.21.07)
Try as you will and as the extent of prostitution proves, you cannot legislate morality, and it's not up to the state to rear one's kids. The daily headlines about our elected "guardians of the State and common good," whether here, there or anywhere makes the latter a rather frightening prospect. Aside from all of that, by the time the adults have figured out how to block something, one or the other one of their kids will, already, have found a way to unblock or circumvent the block; not necessarily to look at porn, but for the sheer fun of having beaten "the machine/the system." Most of the hacking into those highly encrypted and "protected" sites and programs is done by very young adults. They hack for the same reason some other people climb Mt. Everest: because it's there. Last but not least, I always wonder how some of those indignant, moral policemen, who are so eager to censor things for everybody else, know how bad and dangerous those porn sites are. It might be interesting to see the charges on their credit cards. Free porn is mostly designed to lure people to the “pay to play” sites, and if it weren’t for paying adults, there wouldn’t be much porn. Hypocrites! And before anyone asks, how I know about this stuff here’s a little joke: One day, a son came to visit his mother at the old folks’ home. As he drove up to the place and to his horror, he saw a group of old women cavorting on the lawn in front of the building, stark-naked, having a good time, laughing and waving at the traffic. When he asked his mother, what in the world was happening, she smiled and said: “Aw, son, those are retired “ladies of the night.” They’re having a yard sale.”
3. No Substitute
Shimon ,   Cincinnati, USA   (07.21.07)
Legislation cannot serve to replace parental involvement and education. Parents must spend time inculcating their children about the internet, as well as other aspects of society. Laws will only generate "offenders" and entrepreneurs who will inevitably find ways of circumventing those ill-advised laws. Responsibility is the answer to any type of repression...legal or religious.
4. ever heard of cybernanny?
Antonio ,   Haifa   (07.21.07)
Or other products like it? What a bunch of useless morons our politicians and people who support them are! If you want to limit the web sites that your children visit, there is rather cheap parental control software you can buy. Government spending time and money to install CENSORSHIP like in Iran, China, and Saudi Arabia is obscene.
5. sperm
Zoe ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (07.21.07)
Masturbation is a waste of sperm? This argument was probably from the time that men thought that women did not masturbate. What I want to know, what is the argument against women masturbating. I know, off topic completely, but just had to say it. THUUUH!!!
6. BIG BROTHER,IN ISRAEL ??????????

shas is an elected partry simply because people vote for them. they should only have the power that the voters give them. the fact is there is a need for shas because sephardim and mizrachim feel discriminted against and many have respect for their religious leaders and would like to see traditional views held in the government. the fact is another religious party, the national religious party, institutes more social legislation than any other party, even for its small size. the handicapped organisation even suggested its members vote for the NRP as a result for the work they had done on handicapped rights. so you really should learn the facts before you let your bigotry take over. democarcy for all, except who i say sounds like your mantra
10. Studies have shown that 85% of the hits on the Internet are

to pornographic sites. That is very sad. If the pornographic sites are censored or shut down, will there be an internet? Let us hope so. People could read the Bible for its pornography content. In America, Bibles are banned from many schools because it is considered pornographic. My father had pornogrpahic statues in the house, but critics call that "art": Venus de Milo, Paolina Banaparte, etc. Is pornography on the Internet a vice? I have never gone to a pornographic site on the Internet, so I do not know what kind of vices are out there. But I often read of people being arrested for having child pornography on their computers. That should be censored, certainly.
