1. Israel Has Never Won A War
MK ,   Philadelphia USA   (07.20.07)
Israel has never even fought a war. Israel fights nothing but defenses, never bombing enemy cities and capitals, never bringing actual misery to enemy populations. That is what winning a war is about - beating the enemy, including its population, so completely that he doesn't even think of attacking you for another 50 years (as the Allies demonstrated in WWII with Germany and Japan). Israel has never taken the fighting to the enemy population, as the Allies did in WWII, and because of this Israel has not won anything. It just fights new battles in the same, unending war every 10 years. Eventually, given all of these chances, the arabs will win.
2. Protecting the home front is good but
Zooog ,   USA   (07.20.07)
the best defense is a strong offense. That's how you win a war. This idea that Israel must make "proportional" response to provocation is ridiculous. Winning wars are not fought by the rules of the Marquis of Queensbury.
3. Prepare the homefront now
roxy ,   Israel   (07.20.07)
Finally someone saying what I have said all along, prepare the Homefront now, the winds of war are blowing hard. When the Iranian leader gave his speech yesterday in Syria he said it all i n black and white,we are comming after Israel. So Handout the gas masks in the North and center of the country(the areas to be hit first), make ready the shelters, fortify the Hosp.,ready the municipalities, theKupat Holims.Don't leave us hanging in the wind like the last time!! Shore up the homefront now, so that the soldiers can fight with the knowledge that their families are protected on the Homefront, and then hit our enemies hard, send them to the stoneage, or better yet send them to Allah and the 72 virgins, with the Iranian leader and Syrian leader showing them the way to the virgins!
4. Maybe the government knows
David   (07.22.07)
that by by allowing the border communities to be vulnerable to attacks, they will suffer greater damage and casualties, and so the government will have an excuse to surrender the land that they want to give away so badly and that they couldn't do by unilateral withdrawal anymore. Were they try to give up the Golan now, there'd be riots. More expulsions in the West Bank too, would mean battling huge crowds of good Jews, teenagers, grandmas. So if an enemy attack causes casualties in significant numbers, Israel will use that as an excuse to surrender the Golan and the whole West Bank, in one swoop. It's a twisted plan, but possible, when one puts it in the context of Israel's history and particularly its recent leaders.
