1. To the Winograd commission
Yiannis Kareklas ,   Athens Greece   (07.24.07)
Why not say thank you to Nasrallah for bombing Israel during the second Lebanon war ? With Israelis like you , Israel does not need enemies. Drop the BS and start acting mature!!!!
2. Chapeaux bas - well done
Antoon ,   Beirut, Lebanon   (07.24.07)
Impressive, a true sign of a mature state, that takes seriously claims made even by the ennemy state... Even considering such an issue goes to show the level of maturiy of your state. albeit, thsi level of maturity only applies when doing autocriticism, rather than when dealing with neighbours... a step in the right direction...
3. Amazing and shocking!
Eric ,   Toronto, Canada   (07.24.07)
Why isn't Gal-On screaming about the thousands of Katyushas sent indiscriminately into civilian populations in northern Israel? That is the real war crime that was perpetrated in the 2nd Lebanon War!
4. MERETZ IS HELPING TERRORISTS. THERE ARE NO WAR CRIMES !!!
(07.24.07)
5. STOP WITH THIS SUICIDAL AND CRAZY LEFTIST MASOCHISM
Ronny   (07.24.07)
6. the only crime committed...
oded   (07.24.07)
is by galon and her sick, pathetic cronies... with hundreds of missles rained on civivlian targets by muzzbulla, who is the war criminal here? but galon has more imortant things to worry about ,then to care for her own people. to galon, and the left-wing contingency--- fu!!!!!
7. Can't she just make it up
Danny   (07.24.07)
That's what she has done in the past and that's the normal modus operandi of the "human rights" organisation like Amnesty and the UN. Far, far easier than actually coming up with some facts.
8. Another Olmert farce
freejay3 ,   Israel   (07.24.07)
Another farce by the bogus Winograd commission in an attempt to divert the main reason for the commission in the first place......Olmerts inept handling of the war. If you look at Winograds past commissions, they are a joke. I have no faith in Winograd as he was appointed by Olmert for a reason.......you have to look after your buddies to entrench your own position.(peres, ramon, friedman, winograd etc all appointed by Olmert)...... seems to be the modus operati of this government.
9. commission's decision, in advance
observer   (07.24.07)
of course the Winograd's report will be "there was no war crime"; judged from failure of the commission to adress the issue of "why Israel entered the war". Hizbullah didn't resort to Katyushas except after Israel had crossed the borders into South Lebanon and was about to start a massacre for both militants and civilians. Hizbullah promised to stop when Srael stop, and was capable of controling its troops into the cease-fire. Israel shouldn't forget that hiting Lebanese civilians was not justified, and the execuse of "Hizbullah militant firing rockets while hiding behind Lebanese civilian" was paractically impossible. Most of Israel's cluster bombs were dropped or fired only few hours before the UNSCR came into effect, which nulls the execuse that those bombs aimed at Hizbullah militants, not the civilians.
10. War Crimes? Meretz likes Terrorism?
Rebab ,   Raanana   (07.24.07)
11. AAHAHAHHAA
E.S. ,   Montreal, Canada   (07.24.07)
Thank you Ynet: you crack me up! Long live the israeli ethnomasochist leftist! Long live Gal-On and all the sonafa----h like her who are driving slowly but surely Israel to his self- destruction. All right, sing with me now : Gaaal-on, malka Israel, Chai, chai ve kayam...
12. Sounds like "observer" in #9 is a lawyer for Hizbullah.
Tahl ,   Israel   (07.24.07)
This guy will say anything and distort everything in order to make Israel look bad, while excusing its enemies. Arab sympathizers like him should actually be envious of Israel being able to face up to such charges, unlike terrorists like Hizbullah who fire mostly on civilians and commit far worse war crimes, including against their own people (such as using families as human shield in houses that store katyusha rockets, for instance).
13. who cares
Michael   (07.24.07)
1)If the Prime Minister won't resign based on the winograd commission's findings. What does it matter whether or not the commission will investigate "war crimes" 2) When war crimes are filed against nasarallah and his ilk , then discuss it. To probe the IDF only, of war crimes is a perversion of morality at best treachorous at worst.
14. #9, thank you for proving the point
Danny   (07.24.07)
Hizbollah fired rockets during ITS inclusion into Israel to kidnap soldiers. It fired at Shlomi and at towns on the border. This was an unprovoked attack on a neighbour, even Nasrallah doesn't claim it was in response to a IDF operation rather it was in "support of his brothers in Palestine" and some crap about prempting some IDF operation sometime in the future. As for cluster bombs, your source for the last hour, I will bet is the same one that every single comment on cluster bombs. It will relate back to a lying report by Meron Rappoport of Ha'aretz. Even this lying scumbag didn't say it was in the last three days - not hours - that most were fired just that someone had heard from someone who had heard from someone else it might be the case. The plain fact is that so far there is absolutely no evidence whatsoever that the volume of cluster bombs dropped was close to the amount claimed. Finally why is "the execuse of "Hizbullah militant firing rockets while hiding behind Lebanese civilian" " in you
15. war crimes
Mary ,   Jerusalem   (07.24.07)
Yes, war crimes were committed. That isn't even something that is questioned. But after all, isn't violation of human rights and war crimes what this nation is truly built upon? Illegal occupation, jailing without trial or charge, murder of children without reprimand etc.. I do not see what the new news is. Yet some talkbackers seemed to be offended by the truth. Just as the fake trials for murder of innocent children by IDF soldiers that always end in laughable sentences, this investigation will end positively for the crooked Israeli leaders most likely excusing their actions. Let's all try to act shocked at the outcome.
16. Wake up people!
Al ,   US   (07.24.07)
By allowing this investigation to go ahead you are showing the entire world that Israel is about justice and is against crime, even when the crimes was committed by a Jew! Bravo
17. #15 STOP YOUR PALLYWOOD!!!!!

18. #14 exhaust from fired rockets would have caused collapse
observer   (07.24.07)
of roof or body of a building if fired from its top or its vicinity. It's practically impossible to fire rockets from among civilians! AI defined 72 hours for most of the cluster bombs because it couldn't but give a time range. But , even 3 days range does not alter the point that Israel aimed at civilians. With approximately one million unexploded cluster bombs, acting as ground mines in populated areas, what do you expect. Twenty were killed in the first 17 days following the end of the war on 14 August. "Almost all the cluster bombs launched by Israeli forces were launched in the last 72 hours of the conflict – after the ceasefire had been agreed on 11 August."
19. BottomLine::The Criminal(Hezbollah) having the last laugh!!
KMR ,   Middle East   (07.24.07)
20. #12 why?
observer   (07.24.07)
((using families as human shield in houses that store katyusha rockets)) Why Hizbullah militants would have stored katyusha and rockets in houses when they could safely and convenienly store them in natural fortified caves, or simply burying them in the ground or store them next to them in tunnels? The war is over and war PR is over now, then try to find answer for this little question.
21. #15, you are absolutely right
Danny   (07.24.07)
War crimes WERE committed in the Second Lebanon War. Prisoners of War were taken and until today have not been given access to ICRC. 4,000 rockets fired of which exactly one hit a military target. Hizbollah - in defiance of the Geneva convention - didn't wear distinguishing uniforms to set themselves apart from the civilian population. They also fired out of civilian areas - there is copious video footage showing this including Al-Manar's own footage of the Khaybar missile being fired at Afula (The buildings in the foreground are called "homes"). Also what part of Lebanon is "illegally occupied"? Not even the UN believe Sheba are Lebanese and when 90 odd maps where produced none of them showed Sheba as Lebanese nor was Hizbullah able to produce one and not even the Syrians agree it is Lebanese. But again thanks for proving my point about making up "facts"
22. #18 and #20, give it up man
Danny   (07.24.07)
Roof would have collapsed? OK, you have proved you are not a Hizbollah guy - they don't have people that dumb. You have seen the Hizbollah rockets on top of trucks - if not go to Al-Manar. You think the truck is destroyed when a rocket is fired. Also there are literally dozens of videos of rockets being fired from houses, behind houses, rocket trucks going into houses. As for the cluster bomb claim. I am going to be kind and assume you mean million unexploded bomblets as opposed to 655 million unexploded bomblets - or roughly one bomblet per 0.01 sq meter over the whole of Lebanon. UNMACCSL has found to date 900 odd strike sites or far less than a quarter of those needed to hit your target of 1 million unexploded bomblets. Guess how many bomblets - exploded or otherwise - they actually have found[Answer:122,000]. Care to explain where the missing bomblets are? PS pedantic point but actually by October 2006 - or more than 17 days later - the figure stood at 18 not 20. Guess what the figure in October for dead 0-12 was 3, in November it was 2. That's right, a bona fide miracle. But as I said before who cares about facts when you can simply make them up. Winograd is there to make sure next time there is no doubt we won and not to waste it's time. It should tell Gal-On to F***-Off.
23. #16, that is seriously seriously naive
Danny   (07.24.07)
Here is what will happen: Any facts or statements exonerating Israel will be condemned as "Zionist Lies" - as we have already seen here. Anything that can even vaguely be used to denigrate Israel will find it's distorted way into the world media. If people want to make stuff up, that's their business, why should a) help them and b) waste time and money to do so?
24. How to impress the world
Stewart Stienhauer ,   Hamburg Germany   (07.25.07)
Once again putting your head on the chopping block. That would really make a huge difference to how the rest of the world sees you.In reallity no one gives a rats what you do,they will go over it for a few seconds and forget the whole thing. But one thing is certain you have lost a lot of respect for losing the second Lebanon war.The end justifies the means........Good Luck(from a friend of Israel)
25. Don't you remember?
YOEL ,   Switzerland   (07.31.07)
There has been an inquiry comission against alleged war crimes, also in Lebanon... it concerned events in Sabra and Shatila. The Kahane Comission concluded indirect responsibility concerning Ariel Sharon. Then, he has been depicted as a butcher, a criminal everywhere around the world. I don't know about Winograd, but he should take care about each word he will say when he will draw conclusions. Remember the word INDIRECT (for Ariel Sharon) has completely been forgotten in the Arab world, and even in some parts of Europe! Please don't repeat same mistakes done in the past, and don't condemn israeli's' future by (indirectly) encouraging another anti-israeli campain as Boycottt....
