jason white ,   afula,israel   (07.25.07)
it to that place of death? That stone should be used to build homes for Jews in Jerusalem and not on nazi land. The habad should be ashamed of themselves. By living in berlin they show how different they are from us Jews. They mostly do not serve in the I.D.F.,but they live in hitler land.
4. This is a Chabad publicity stunt
iandl ,   Europe   (07.25.07)
This is a Chabad publicity stunt to publicise their new centre. It has has nothing to do directly with the Berlin Jewish Community. Here Chabad are presenting themselves as synonymous with the Berlin community, which they are not.
5. bloodsoaked with jewish blood. as a jew i could never set
debra ,   usa   (07.26.07)

I'm writing as an outsider . With humility, I question whether the symbolism of the wall in that location is something that's of positive or negative value. The Kotel is so much a symbol of the Jews' yearning for and identification with Zion that I worry about using its form to function as a "symbolic part of making Berlin a central hub of Jewish life again". An association with Berlin (or anywhere other than Jerusalem) is forced, not natural, and the stronger that association is made, somehow the strength of its existing association is diminished. However praiseworthy the objective, the means feel wrong. It would be more natural to use the wall to demonstrate the link between Berlin, in the diaspora, and Israel. But even here I'd have misgivings. The Temple was unique. The Kotel is its one remaining visible part. In that (understandably) the replica is not intended for prayer, do not the faithfulness of its construction relative to the original and its relative accessibility to the people of Berlin also unintentionally devalue the original?
8. The Temple Mount is our holiest site

Hamburger ,   Hamburg   (07.26.07)
13. Sounds like a cute idea.
Gidi ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.26.07)
We need symbols as a people and it's nice if all the world recogizes this symbol as something Jewish. Of course it will also be nice if they recognised a Temple, or artifacts... this is something.
14. this is rediculous
debbie ,   NolA   (07.26.07)
How sad to put even a picture of the kotel in that blood soaked country-where Jews are still so hated. What is wrong with Chabad? How delusional can they be?
15. Debra
charles ,   petach tikva   (07.26.07)
Have you been once in your life in Germany ? I was . Have you spoken once to a [ non Jewish ] German ? i did . You apparently hate Germany , and/ or Germans, but tell me , are the Germans of today guilty of what their grand parents did ?
16. Sounds crazy!
Raoul ,   Netanya Israel   (07.26.07)
Sounds crazy to me. Just the place for anti-Semitic graffiti.
17. The Rebbe
Choni Davidowitz   (07.26.07)
I am sure the Rebbe would not have approved of this "outreach" action. Chabad; your exilic antics have crossed the moral line. This is an ultimate Chillul Hashem.
18. huge waste of money

19. Will the Leftists wan to put a hole in it and *** it as they

20. Kosel Replica
Peretz Itzhaki ,   NY, USA   (07.27.07)
At least when the leftists give up the Kosel to the Hamas terror regime, there will still be a replica of it in Germany.
21. charles #25. am i supposed to like the german people after
debra ,   usa   (07.27.07)
they perpetrated the worst evil the world has ever known--the holocaust and wwll? am i supposed to want to visit germany? what on earth would i want to see there that would not drive me mad with grief with the memories of all our murdered jewish brothers and sisters? the germans sinned against Hashem who has commanded us--you shall not kill. only he has has the power to forgive the germans. i do not have that power. the germans must ask Hashem for forgiveness. i have not seen them do that, since 1933 or up until today. if an individual who survived the holocaust and wwll, is asked by his german abuser for forgiveness, it is that victim's personal decision whether he will forgive his torturer. i can't give that forgiveness. this is how i understand the laws of judaism. so i carry my pain for our lost jews, taken from us by the germans. i remember: i cannot forget. and it is not my place or in my power to forgive. charles, from your talkbacks we have learned that you have lost your faith in Hashem because of the holocaust. Hashem didn't do it--the germans did it. you find blame with Hashem, i find blame with the germans.
22. this farce
Michael ,   Lakewood NJ USA   (07.27.07)
Chabad has crossed the line into stupidity and moronic behavior. Most of their stunts are stupid, like boxers and girls in bikinis parading around with score cards to promote chabad but this takes the cake. Chabad has gone down as far as it could.
23. What's wrong with the Western Wall in Yerushalayim?
(07.27.07)
24. What a stupid idea and what a waste of money!
Avraham ,   NYC   (07.27.07)
25. a cheap and reprehensible lubavitch trick...
Toledot Aharon   (08.02.07)
in line with their deceased rebbe's urging of turning wherever they are to yerushalayim. that way, as the mashiach he considered himself to be, he didn't have to take the trouble to go anywhere. he was right at home in crown heights!
