Vernon McGee whose Bible Radio program covers teh Bible in five years of half hour talks, says he had a church in Texas where he was the only person who believed in God. Everyone else was there for a social club. I have been treated very badly by atheists and by people who go to churches, so it is difficult to tell the difference. While people expecting God to do something for them ARE considered to be religious -- albeit religious of a lower standing. BTW a Rabbi who leads Jewish rituals -- rituals are directed toward Yahweh, the Supreme Lord -- can NOT possibly be an atheist. An atheist can NOT be a Rabbi. And a Rabbi can NOT be an atheist. We here in Detroit will fondly miss Rabbi Wine. As Detroits first openly gay rabbi, he had the courage and vision to embrace all segments of judaism, uniting them all in one purpose for all mankind.

his parents were conservative and "kept kosher and shabbat". he went to become a reform rabbi. he then progressed further, dropped god altogether and hooked up with a "life partner". conservative judaism kills the jewish soul. they may hang on for a while and follow shabbat or kosher but since they don't really believe in it, their kids see right through it. in the end their children will all end up atheist homosexuals like this guy.

I am a Detroiter and have followed Wine's career for some decades. He turned Judaism, the fount of monotheism into a pagan philosophy of liberalism and decadence. His personal life, that of an avowed homosexual, complete with Gentile 'partner' was a desecration of all Judaism stands for. In Detroit, across the vast Jewish spectrum, Wine was an embarrassment. He met his end in an interesting way; killed in a cab in an Moslem country, on the Holy Sabbath while vacationing during the Three Weeks before Tisha B'Av. Divine Justice?

It is better not to be religious than to be a religious unbeliever who has a worse condemnation after death than a mere unbeliever. I have to wonder if that could mean ONLY religious unbelievers are children of the devil and that mere unbelievers who are not religious are NOT children of the devil. If non-religious unbelievers are NOT children of the devil, what are they? Are they equivalent to children of Hashem? Is atheism a religion, a sort of worship of people designated by the government or oneself to deify? I have to wonder what Yeshua meant. But it is clear he did not approve of religion for the wrong reasons.
