Although 130 million NIS seems like a lot of NIS, doesn't the fact that it's designated for 120,000 survivors make it look like a ridiculously small amount? That's just a little over 1000 NIS for each. Seems quite little if you ask me. But then what do I know...

Shouldn't all survivors have been treated with respect and consideration many decades ago? Why has the state allowed them to live in poverty and neglect for so long?

After making such a mess in Israel the corrupt olmert wants to mke political gain by sying that he rectified the assistance to the holocast survivors.His lieing and deciet caused such an uoroar that the welfare minister had no option but to see the plight of the survivors.Olmert is doing no favours .The money comes from Germany and belongs to the holocast survivors Get rid of olmert.How much still disappears before the survivors get thier fair share.

Olmert is only PM since a short time , before him there were others , and they are certainly more to blame , they had years to do it .

The actions of the State of Israel over the years, not to mention the various financial institutions including the banks, regarding Holocaust survivors has been shameful, to say the least. The State et al have done a horrible job in taking care of that generation of unfortunate souls. And it all began when reparations monies went into the State's pocket instead of directly into the hands of the survivors as in other countries.....

The administrator of the fund earns around $250,000 a year. The survivors are on 83 shekels a month. Proof that the Israeli government are crooks, thieves and liars, who care nothing about the victims of the holocaust and increase their suffering, while the greedy mafioso government are pocketing millions!

The Israeli government is a disgrace to Israel, to Jews, to the holocaust survivors and to any semblance of decency.

A shame for a Jewish State, a shame for Jews all over the world, the way this government treats people who lost everything during the Holocaust. Non-Jewish countries in Europe have made pensions for Holocaust Survivors,who can live in dignity, Israel gives them Usd.20 per month. Ministers and Knesseth members who are supporting this proposal do not feel the pain those survivors feel every day and make it clear that they do not care about their citizens and only care about their own position. Shame on you!!

Lets just hope Olmert actually cares, and isn't just making false promises of appeasement. Hopefully he means what he says and gets it implemented quickly, becasue like the article says we haven't got long to leave a positive legacy of how we have treated the survivors
