1. The consequences of weakness
Moshanik ,   Haifa   (08.02.07)
If the horrible slaughter of WWII taught us anything it is that enemies who seek to destroy you must be completely crushed. Weakness only leads to greater carnage. We should have attacked syria last summer and should do it now for the aid that they are openly giving to the terrorists. Also-Who would want to make a peace agreement with a country who threatens to attack you if you don't make "peace"?
2. action, at last - if ahMADijahd gave Bashar $$$
Central Scrutinizer ,   Earth   (08.02.07)
Otherwise, Syria's too poor. So, if they've been cashed up by the monkey-man, we may indeed see some madness from the Bashar and the boys. Won’t last very long though. Israel will fight with the gloves off. It aint a group of terrorists (like hizb'allah) this time; it's a current enemy sovereign nation. They'll be well F@#~ed-over – big time.
3. Syria in breach of agreement - will bear the consequences
The Doc ,   Haifa, Israel   (08.02.07)
The cease-fire agreement stipulates that Syria is forbidden to move any troups on the Golan heights. They are breaching this by moving troups under the guise of "citizen relocation". Never mind. It is interesting to see how these soldiers will react when their familes will be in the line of fire too - be they in Qunetra or Damascus. By seeking to reclaim the Golan Heights without a stable and true Peace, Bashar will bring Syria and his clan to destruction - exactly the scenarion Iran is conting on. The moment Syria is weak and/or destroyed by Israel, it will be filled with Iranian and Hezbollah operatives and transform it into a Shiite Iranian protectorate and its Arab citizens transformed into servants of their Persian new masters. Bashar's safest way is to seek a true Peace with Israel - this will get him his Golan back, will bring in American and European money and allow him to consolidate his clan's grip on Syria. Anything less than a Peace with Israel means certain doom for Bashar, Alawis and Syria. But Bashar is too stupid to see that and too afraid to act - he still dreams of a Bigger Syria (icluding Lebanon, Israel and the West Bank). This mad colonialist and racist dream will never happen. Too bad that the Syrians do not replace him with a more able and pragmatic leader, one who will change Syria from a world pariah into a stable and powerful regional economy.
4. Israel should never speak to this dicatator again!
(08.02.07)
5. Assad is starting to talk too much.........
Nora ,   Tel Aviv   (08.02.07)
imitating his master Ahmadinejad and his hero Nasrallah. But he lacks his father`s wit and intelligence and the courage of his dead brother. So,if he misses his blackmail`s purpose, he might easily be replaced through a "Coup d~Etat" orchestrated by Ahmadinejad.
6. crush the head of the snake - in the next war, nip assad
aaron ,   ra'anana   (08.02.07)
7. War is eminant - return buildup
Josh   (08.02.07)
If they build up the border and secure weaponry from the US - uhmmm - duhhh! Is there a general in Israel that understands unprovoke aggressive moves by a muslim country towards an Israeli border. Their building tunnels? Lets make sure "Syria has an answer in case Israel attacks its cities" Visa versa - we must answer this buildup. Build the Golan and interlink it with a major highway for quickly moving heavy arms if needed.
8. Olmert will supply them weapons and cash
Marcel ,   Floirda   (08.02.07)
Ehud will do as he has done with the fatah terrorist and help Syria. He will supply them weapons and millions of U.S. dollars for the peace of course. DUMP OLMERT IN GAZA
9. More and more Israelis settle in the Golan every day
Gidi ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.02.07)
Syria needs to forget about our Golan. It's Israeli forever.
10. Syrians
David ,   Sao Paulo - Brazil   (08.02.07)
If the syrians will ignite a war... then don´t cry in the battle and don´t say that Israel response is very strong or we are coffee with milk.
11. " forbidden to leave the country "
Name ,   City & country   (08.02.07)
We must act against Syria should it continue to reject Israeli sovereignty over the Golan!
12. #1 Dyslexia
Hani ,   Palestine Vagabond   (08.02.07)
Can't you read properly? The article states: "“...(Syria) is determined to retrieve every grain of land in the Golan Heights. We are stronger than we have been in the past. Syria will not succumb to pressure or be deterred by threats.” Who said anything about destroying Israel? The man and his people, along the entire Arab and Muslim world, stands by Syria in getting the Golan back. You see, it's Arab territory. Either your lenses need cleaning or you need sleep!
13. 51%X100%
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (08.02.07)
While.... "51% of Syrians favor a peace treaty with Israel if it withdraws from the Golan Heights and recognizes Syrian sovereignty there." 100% of Israelis don't favor it!
14. Syria plans war of attrition
Monique   (08.02.07)
First and fore most Olmert must allow the Homefront Command to ready the shelters in the north and center of the country, hand out gas masks, fortify hospitals etc. Because Assad is just itching to attack Israel for his Iranian masters. He pretend to want peace in exchange for the return of the Golan, but once he would get it, he would use it against us! So make ready the homefront, ready the IDF because we are headed to a big war here the very outcome will determine the very existance of Israel!
15. go assad we with u&we love u
nasrullah ,   rsa   (08.02.07)
we will destroy our enemy&every body with them including us allah akbar
16. Read Isaiah 17:1-3 and weep
john ,   nz   (08.02.07)
17. Only Assad would use "peace" to threaten with war
(08.02.07)
Israel has nothing to gain from engaging with this belligerent clown.
18. #12 Hani: YOU need to re-read the article
to wandering Hani ,   usa   (08.02.07)
1) It is clear that Syria is the one making threats, demanding the return of land lost in war and massing troops on its border; 2) Arabs NEVER stand by each other, as evidenced from their unwillingness to assimilate Palestinian refugees. They have a tribal mentality that they just can't shake. Look at the Gaza Strip, for heaven's sakes! 3) The Golan was conquered--yes, conquered!--in a defensive war. Conquered lands belong to the victor---how does that make it "Arab territory?" That clearly makes it "former Arab territory"--- Get it?
19. What if Israel pushes further inside?
Daniel ,   Israel   (08.02.07)
Good that Assad is declaring the war. What happens if Israel pushes further in to Syria? Say up to northern Damascus area? To be accurate; up to the President’s Palace! Your friend; Iran is not ready yet for any kind of war; he is only talking and preparing for future... which is at list 10 years away! Can Assad wait till then to reclaim the area newly occupied by Israel?
20. The Golan never belonged to Syria legally
woww ,   LA, CA   (08.02.07)
The Brithis ceded it to the French in 1947 in breach of all the agreements. Hence the annexation to Israel was fully legal. By the looks of it I rather think Syria is trying to minimize the damage to itself in case Iran attacks Israel then to plan a serious offensive. Bashar might be loosing control over Hezbollah and he knows no matter what, if Israel is attacked he will be held responsible this time.
21. Assad and War.
bobsplace ,   Boonies in Texas, US   (08.02.07)
I can hardly wait until Assad(The Forehead)'s newly bought Russian Fighters tangle with IDF F-15's. Hell, IDF pilots need the target practice. Assad is only a dumb, tinpot dictator and should never be trusted....Keep Golan and kick all the Syrian sypathizers off it.....Golan Is Israel
22. Syrian War Threat
Brod ,   USA   (08.02.07)
They think they have thousands of rockets to unleash on Israel's cities and towns. They think a War of Attrition should be applied as a first step. In dealing with their pernicious enemies with high tech weaponry, Israel should also apply their high tech weaponry. To ensure Deterrence, Israel should not do tit for tat but rather do a shorter version of 1967.
23. No 15,slogans,slogans,slogans !

24. #15: another Muslim agitator with multiple personalities
The Doc ,   Haifa, Israel   (08.02.07)
"nasrullah" is the same as "salahdin" from another forum here. I see that he did not come to terms with his own identity. Let me help out: we KNOW that many Muslim posters pose here with different identities as "non-Muslim" or even "Jewish" people from UK, US, Scandinavia or other parts of the world. They are nothing more than pathetic and mostly analphabet Muslim agitators desperate to seed discordance and disinformation. They may think that they are smart but they are as stupid as ever as it is very easy to detect them - the more they post, the more their "style" gives them up regardless of the desguise the decide to wear. This only shows that the so called "information" war is far from being won by Muslims - as they claim. In my opinion, this will be just another "victory" in the long chain of Arab "victories" in their wars on Israel.
25. just tell them: "we're not playing that game...
dante ,   uk   (08.03.07)
you start something and the cinders of damascus will glow in the dark for a long. it's your choice. we would prefer peace. but, if you force war upon us, with Heaven's help, it will not be a war of attrition and it will not end the way you want."
26. WEAKNESS..FORWARNED BY GOD
WENDELL ,   GASTONIA NC USA....   (08.03.07)
Y'ISRAEL ALL THROUGH HER TALMUD YEARS, WAS FREQUENTLY TOLD BY YHWH,THROUGH THE PROPHETS TO "UTTERLY KILL THE ENEMIES OF Y'ISRAEL. FOR MANY REASONS BUT FOR ONE I SEE AS TOP, THE ENEMIES YOU UTTERLY DESTROY, WON'T COME BACK TO ATTACK AGAIN. IS IT TIME TO REASSERT THE OLD TESTAMENT PROPHETS AND THEIR WARNINGS? OR STAY IN A STUPOR.....AS IS BEING DONE NOW. THERE ARE A FEW "ELIJAHS" EVEN AT THIS LATE HOUR....
27. GOLAN..............
WENDELL BRYANT ,   GASTONIA NC USA   (08.03.07)
FOR MONTHS I HAVE HEARD THAT OH HO IS GOING TO NEGOTIATE GOLAN FOR PEACE... IF ONE DOES NOT LEARN FROM THE PAST, HE IS DESTINED TO REPEAT IT AND DISASTEROUSLY.! ! AS AN EX NAVY AIRMAN..VIETNAM ERA .IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN KNOW THAT " HE WHO CONTROLS THE HIGH GROUND...CONTROLS THE THEATRE OF WAR" HE WHO CONTROLS THE AIRWAVES DOES ALSO SOOOOO.....ANYONE WANT TO GIVE SYRIA SOME MORE MISSLES FOR THE GOLAN. IRAN WOULD LOVE THAT STRONGHOLD....????
28. Assad I dare you to start a war
zionist forever   (08.03.07)
War is not pleasent but this time Israel needs a war with Syria its the only way to expose the idiots in Israel and Syria. It will also allow Israel to finish off Syrian millitary capabilites once and for all leave Saddams post Gulf war aramy looking like a superpower then providing Israel doesnt misse the oportunity it will give it a chance to push for REAL peace with Syrias NEW leadership after the Syrians have overthrown Assad. A beaten and humiliated Syria would also send a message to Iran and Hamas if you threaten us we destroy you we dont surrender and do as you tell us. War with Syria is the first step towards security for Israel
29. THIS IS AN OLD NEWS STORY!
(08.03.07)
30. War with Syria will Escalate
RickD ,   USA   (08.03.07)
The Syrians will be depending on their medium and long range missiles. Israel will destroy many of the launchers but there will be Israeli civilian deaths. As the Syrians realize they are losing they will escalate to chemical weapons. Israel will escalate to ... it depends. If more than a few hundred Israeli civilians are killed by chemical weapons Israel will go nuclear. War with Syria will not be a cake walk and will escalate very quickly. Neither side will feel it can afford to lose.
