1. Moral Decay of the IDF
Jake ,   NYC   (08.03.07)
And for what? To preserve the occupation. I notice the usual crowd of Israel detractors...er, defenders are silent on this story.
2. # 1 oooh you must be loving it
izzy d   (08.03.07)
Yes, all of your feelings and notions concerning that scourge of nations, mutilator of freedom, hijacker of humanistic values, hijacker of reason and bringer of injustice are finally justified. this is soooo obviously a sign of moral decay. wait, you mean the investigations, inquiry, censure and reprimands and the treating of the injured pali in a isreali hospital right? The IDF has more moral fiber in its acronyms then you do in your whole self righteous body.
3. Traitors WITHIN
Jew ,   Eretz Israel   (08.03.07)
These soldiers and the officer did nothing wrong. They commandeered a civilian vehicle for their urgent mission and returned it intact (any cop in USA is allowed to do that). They shot a person who threatened them with a shovel and refused to back off (again, any cop in USA is allowed to do that). Now the traitors within - are making criminals are out of these soldiers. Shame on the traitors!
4. israeli leaders give me dahariya
yair ,   nyc   (08.03.07)
5. anybody buying this...
(08.03.07)
"After a short ride in Dahariya they apparently realized their actions were illegal and started heading back. At a certain point a Palestinian carrying a shovel neared the vehicle and the troops called to him to stop......" Try this "At a certain point a Palestinian carrying a shovel neared the vehicle and the troops called to him to stop......they realized their cover was blown up and started heading back." Now the IDF chiefs want to blame those soldiers, who were carrying out military orders.
6. Wake Up Ashkenazi - IDF Immorality Has Becoming the Norm
Morris Freidman III ,   USA   (08.04.07)
Perhaps at one time, before the internet, cell phone cameras and cheap camcorders the IDF may have been able to claim it was a moral army, but once the shroud was lifted, the occupation army’s true methods were exposed, and they are not pretty. The IDF is merely a looking glass into the morals, values and norms of Israeli society, and which even at the highest levels the signs of Israel societal downslide are evident, so the solution is far more difficult to solve than by censuring a few commanders.
7. the real reason for the raid was?
jack bauer ,   usa   (08.04.07)
to seek out and capture or kill a known terrorist operative? The sad thing is that these soldiers felt as if they were in hostile territory...and felt they had to shoot and then flee. It was inside Israel. Where the soldiers should be able to act without worrying about who will pop up and shoot at them. I think because they did, that they may have shot at the wrong guy, and then fled before the sh**storm started. Lock off the entire area next time. Bring in reinforcements and capture the guy. If he doesnt give up then shoot, but seriously they did mess up. Thanks ynet for having two different stories about the event which one should I believe? I guess either is ok since neither supports the IDF
8. Morale
Nemesis   (08.04.07)
The morale of the IDF must be at an all time low, which does not bode well fo the future. When the soldiers on the ground are not supported by their superior officers, due to political correctness and officers covering their butt instead of backing their men,the military is in trouble..and so is Israel.
9. from one extreme to the other-
yahn goodey   (08.04.07)
if you carry this on up the chain of command past barak its all olmerts fault.----however i am on a sabbatical on into retirement end of next june because i got sick of working for a psycopathic control freak that would drive a normal person insane with his demands-while he had to take regular doses of vallium to live with himself .how is the commander of these soldiers supposed to be able to know ahead of time that they would do what they did ?- is he a mind reader like G-D.my former boss would love these soldiers -definetly would have recommended them for promotions after this incident
10. I know the guys
Dave ,   Israel   (08.04.07)
the Lavi gdood is the joke of the Kfir Yehida because of all the idiots inside. This story is absolutely true and they were not following military orders, but a couple of hot-shots who got power hungry. I hope they get put in jail good, stories like this overshadow the bulk of the good work tzahal does in the territoriesl
11. The Central Commander knows well how to kill Jews though
Bobby Solo ,   Italia   (08.04.07)
...as in the case of his DIRCET RESPONSIBILITY in the shhoting with over THREE HUNDRED BULLETS and a HELICOPTER MISSILE of two soldiers standing guard at a cellulra phone antenna in the South Hebron area... ADD THAT TO THE CONSTANT HARASSMENT OF OUR SOLDIERS ON THE PART OF COURTS AND MILITARY SITTING IN WELL AIR CONDITIONED OFFICES, TO PUNISH GOOD SOLDIERS AND TO LOSE WARS... NO SURPRISE THAT MORE AND MORE DO NOT ENLIST!!!
12. #3 Jew in Eretz Israel - You are absolutely right
Howard ,   NYC   (08.04.07)
Israel is under the control of the US that dictates Israel to go easy on Palestinians and hard on whoever dares to do the duty of an Israeli soldier. Everything that the government does, from releasing criminals, to harassing Yesha Jews, it's all according to instructions from Israel's masters, Bush and the State Department.
13. #11 Bobby Solo
Howard K ,   NYC   (08.04.07)
What incident is it that you're refering to in that shooting in Hevron? Thanks.
14. Disproportionate reporting
freejay ,   Israel   (08.04.07)
Why is YNet printing such small trivial news like this and never once mentioning anything about the 500 Palastinians killed by Palastinians so far this year alone???????? YES, OVER 500 BEEN KILLED BY THEIR OWN PEOPLE IN LAST 7 MONTHS!!!!!!! BUT SILENCE FROM THE MEDIA????????????
15. Ynet - all about the money
Jonathan   (08.04.07)
Your stories usually don't make sense. I would expect such 'objective, factual' reporting to be published by Al-Jazira. Not Ynet. But who knows. You live and you learn.
16. Truth Hurts
Jared ,   Stillwater USA   (08.04.07)
All of you that criticize Y-Net and Haaretz, when they publish the cruel and harsh measures that the IDF conducts against civilians, I say the truth hurts. Wake up and find out who the coward really is.
17. All the Detractors Talkbacks Tell Me More…
ER ,   Canada   (08.04.07)
…about their true motives than about the evils of the IDF. I look at the severity of the actions perpetrated by rogue elements within the IDF as compared with those of the “morally superior” nations. In light of all the outrageous atrocities committed by Canadians in Somalia, American in Iraq, Americans in My Lai, Brits in Burma, Japanese in China, Turkish genocide of Armenians, Saudi treatment of Western tourists, Khmer Rouge, etc etc., it is astonishing that these talkbackers can seriously pretend to use this isolated incident to prove Israeli’s moral turpitude. In my mind, their eagerness to condemn only goes to expose their true, scarcely disguised motives when one considers that in most cases, the “moral” nations refuse to even acknowledge any wrongdoing, despite overwhelming evidence. It is most telling that no credit is given the IDF for exposing and punishing the perpetrators of actions which are contrary to the core values of Israeli society.
