Raymond says the Ashkennazie Jews are more similar to Palestinians than to Poles. Poles as a class hate Jews, being mostly Roman Catholic, so it is unlikely too many marriages changed the Khazar blood line to Jewish in Poland.

I am chareidi of mixed background. There is ABSOLUTELY a division between Ashk and Sef in Israel and in the Galut. Whenever a marital problem crops up in a mixed couple, the following statement always is stated "That's why Ashkenazim should marry Ashkenazim and Sefardim, Sefardim." This is total nonsense. Look at the divisions in religion amongst the Sefardim. They are few and far between when viewed at a similar observance level. Ashkenazim have a billion minhagim depending on their shtetl or chassidishe rebbi. They view themselves as elitists and that's even gone beyond societal implications to actual government policy. Look at the past PM'S as well as governmental leaders in Israel. Look up the "Ringworm Children" on google video or youtube. I, for one, am disgusted by Ashken-nazi superiority complexes - whether it's eugenically inspired, socially, religious or otherwise inspired. Amongst Hareidim, the Ashkenaz are NEVER fully accepting of Sefardim unless the more or less assimilate into the Ashkenazi world. THAT is something in need of a TIKKUN!

I find it very rare that orthodox jews are more raciste (between jews themselves) than secular jews, I can notice it very clearly among all the jews I Know, the mitnagdim prefer not to mary the chassidim, Shas was created because the chassidim didn't accept them and so on, I fear the futur if Israel gets more orthodox it might be the end of our country, can someone please explain me why this racism exist is it part of the religion? Those are only charidim who don't want sephardi women . Seculars and "normal" religious accept them certainly . So don't think you alone will have the joy to have such a fine Sephardi woman , there is competition !

the two cultures are very different...this has nothing to do with religion, it's just that the sefardim have a more Arab mentality; the ashkenasim, a more Europian one. These two cultures are so far removed that it is simply hard to mix them. I was married to a safardi, so I saw this phenomina first hand. It was like a two different world colliding. So i would say, all predjucies aside....a marriage has enough challenges without this added complication.

I fully agree with your last sentence . I would add , that when marrying , you have also the spouses family , and they can also create problems . Certainly when from a different Jewish origin .

I have read several articles about how the Ashkenazim are superior to the Sephardim. I am deeply saddened to think that after everything that the Jewish people have been through, whether in Germany or Spain, that they would turn on eachother in this way. I am a Sephardi woman and I love my people - Israel.
