31. Good for them!
Carolyn ,   Tel Aviv   (08.06.07)
Finally, someone in the army is using their heads! They should be rewarded for thinking, rather than punished.
32. My boy is there and i m proud of him!
proud mama   (08.06.07)
i rather come and visit him in jail then see him do something so immoral that he wont sleep for years to come-just as the soldiers who participated in girush r not sleeping
33. Torah observant Jewish soldiers should be exempt..
abdullah ,   ashkenaz   (08.06.07)
from orders of questionable morality (according to the torah), such as dispossessing Jews or Arabs.
34. refuniks
gorge ,   france   (08.06.07)
its just a matter of time till ônly hesder soilders will serve in the army so all you leftists get your Euro passports ready
35. #7 Question
Israel   (08.06.07)
Why aren't you living there with them?
36. to # 9 - have a safe flight
Aaron   (08.06.07)
Go on...leave. That will likely make Israel a better, more secure place because those that are left will understand that Israel will be more secure when we stop chopping off pieces in order to buy some dream of peace with people who only want to kill us
37. 30 candles can dispell much darkness.
LEE ,   NY, USA   (08.06.07)
Finally, some sense of morality. Thank you Ynet for printing and publishing this article. It is my hope that intellegent soldiers throughout the IDF will gain strength from these courageous "refuseniks" and will stand up against the tyranny of "leaders" whose sole pleasure is the oppression of their fellow Jews. Guilt from the crime of the Disengagement/Expulsion lays on every soldier who participated or failed to refuse to participate in the crime of expelling Jews from their land in Eretz Israel. These 30 Yeshiva students deserve badges of honor for their moral strength in recognizing that not all orders need to be followed and that refusal in such cases, where a Jew is commanded to fight another Jew, can only strengthen the IDF and not weaken it. Those of you who really believe that $600 is the motivation behind these gestures have no clue with whom you are dealing with. Here we have 30 loyal Jews who are willing to face any mission as long as that does not involve turning their guns and their fists on their own people. Such strength and courage can only emanate from the Torah and the reward that will undoubtedly be the consequence of this mitzvah of refusal, both in this life and in the next, will surely surpass the buying power of $600. The yeshiva students, Torah-true Jews, should serve as a role model and are to be commended for their clarity. The thousands of soldiers gathered to put on a show, in the name of the most cruel governments Israel has ever seen, will have to do without 30 people who know the difference between right and wrong. Kol Hakavod. Ken Yirboo. Baruch Tehiyu!!!
38. If more Haraidi served in the IDF---
ELY GREENHUT ,   Tzfat Israel   (08.06.07)
They may even outnumber the not Shomer Shabbat Chayalim & as a result it may be very difficult for the army to remove Jews from their rightful homes in Hevron.
39. "Evacuation" from Hevron
Joshua ,   Kalamazoo, Michigan   (08.06.07)
Perhaps it's just an error in translation, but I always thought that an "evacuation" was supposed to be voluntary. An expulsion, or a "cleansing" involuntary. Language as well as policy has been prostituted by the government of Israel.
40. This is exactly why my children will not serve.
klaus ,   Jerusalem   (08.06.07)
With army service around the corner, the State will have to do without my kids as well as MANY others I know who are loyal to the State and to a non-politicized army. They need make no excuse for refusing to be part of an army which rather than defend the country, uses its soldiers to throw Jews out of their houses. We are no longer prepared to carry the weight in combat units and THEN be required to fulfill the left's political orders. An army of the people is perfect - NOT an army of criminals such as Omri & Ariel, of refuseniks such as Olmert & his entire family, or of the leftist morons who ran the war last year, sending soldiers without vests or food into battle, with no battle plans, all because the TRUTH suddenly hit them, albeit temprarily , that the "Settlers" weren't the great enemy, but the arabS! What a shock! As long as you continue to order the IDF to implement the LEFTIST POLITICAL agenda, it is rather disingenious to accuse those who refuse to carry out those political orders of having a political agenda themselves. We want a NON political DEFENSE Force.
41. Rightists serve and Leftists send them to dismantle
Gregory ,   Ukraine   (08.06.07)
42. More lies
Detroit ,   US   (08.06.07)
Only a leftist paper could make up lies about giving money to solders. Shame on you for creating hate against jews. Solders are heros. Bless them.
43. Evacuate Olmert & his gang of loons!
Avraham ,   Netivot   (08.06.07)
Leave these brave "settlers" alone to protect our land.
44. all this talk back hate
zev ,   usa   (08.06.07)
last week the haters were upset that the chareidim dont serve in the army. this week theyre upset when they do enlist to defend theyre country. oh! yeah! what was that article about all those Tel Aviv draft dodgers? are the tables actually turning?!
45. Chevron "evacuation"
Susie ,   Jerusalem   (08.06.07)
"The two Jewish families entered two stores owned by Palestinians in the Hebron wholesale market about eight months ..." CORRECTION: As usual, YNET is either deliberately misinforming or is miserably misinformed. (Probably the former.) The stores are in buildings which are clearly Jewish property; the courts have recognized this; the agreement with the army, after they voluntarily left the building for a short period in order to avoid a confrontation, was that they would be allowed back (the army reneged). The stores remain empty, are clearly Jewish property, are not slated to be "returned" to Arabs (who are not the owners). So why this blatantly false news about stores "owned by Palestinians" ???? YNet should be taken apart and put back together with a little true and objective reporting.
46. refusnicks?
mp ,   detroit mi   (08.06.07)
what a foolish goverment.instead of excusing the moral objectors and not make a fuss about it-it prefers to divide the army and the jewish nation into two camps ---rub salt instead of bandage.unbelievable stupidty.
47. Traitors....
Rami ,   Nazareth, Israel   (08.06.07)
Soldiers take orders from their commander not their rabbi
48. #21 Moshavnik 40% of draft dodgers are SECULAR
Jabadini ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.06.07)
Many of these Hesder students do 3 years or more the ones who dont are generally either married or jobnikim. What about more and more Secular not joining the army. They have no understanding for the meaning of a Jewish country and would live anywhere in the world and wouldn't care. i am talking about much of the center of the country TA, NY all the same. I do agree all must serve in some way. But with what happened lately with soldiers being left behind in Lebanon and Gaza with the kidnapping, there may also be a extradition of an IDF soldier to Uk. Why would anyone want to join an army which is controlled by a government who is more worried about money and power the people its meant to lead.
49. Soldiers legally required to refuse this order
Eliyahu   (08.06.07)
When I was in the army, the rule was that a soldier in the IDF is legally culpable for carrying out immoral orders. That phrase has since been changed. A soldier is legally culpable for carrying out orders that are illegal. Meaning that if the order is legal but blatantly immoral, the soldier is required to carry out the order and is not considered culpable for his actions. This made using soldiers for Gush Katif possible. The supreme court made a ruling of questionable morality that superceded the democratic process, but because it was declared law, the soldiers were obliged to follow orders. In this case, the legality is, at best, problematic. The buildings clearly belong to Jews and because there can be no law passed to evict the occupants, the police are unable to do anything. Because of the illegality or lack of legal basis for the orders, the soldiers are required to refuse orders or they may be put on trial for their actions.
50. Evacuate Olmert to Gaza
Marcel ,   Florida   (08.06.07)
Finally ,IDF soldiers who stand for something and believe in the truth instead of the lies of failed and incompetent loser leaders !! Arrest the traitors of Kadima who work for a hostile foreign government which weakens and divides Israel.
51. To all my fellow Jews, inside and out side Israel.
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (08.06.07)
What is happening in Hevron is a disaster. An enourmous disaster the present gov. is bringing to us all, even to those who by now agree to what has been done. All of us will suffer greatly,ALL! But we have other disasters here in Israel, that if tough measures are not to be taken, will bring great unhappiness to us al. Look at this obsessive compulsive marcel... Israel has been filled of these kinds. I don't know how they have been letting in... They will tranform Israel in an hospice ,if not contained. look at marcel...they are all like him. They carry heavy crosses in their shoulders;sing "jerusalem, jerusalem ,il love you";they stop people on the street to prozelitize on them.. And you can shout on them as shouting at mad dogs that they don't go but get still worse! Many of them walk in the streets as mendicants... Israel should not accept their money comming fromUS,because the result will be more tragic than what is happening now in Hevron. We will not only suffer because of arabs, but as well because of christians, who are stiil worse than muslims.christians are extremelly pagans and indoctrinated beyond imagination! They have no brains anymore. I repeat,if not contained, they will be an enormous social problem in Israel, still more than they have already been! Israel must protect itself from what hurts it!
52. nuremburgh trials
m   (08.06.07)
Stated that soldiers have a higher duty to their consciences, then to just obey orders without thinking. Otherwise they could never be brought to trial for war crimes if soldiers were just robotic instruments. Authorities have to recognise that a humanbeing 'must obey God as ruler rather then men' otherwise we are nothing but slaves.
53. #32 Reality Check for you
Israel   (08.06.07)
I know PLENTY soldiers that were there and are sleeping very well, knowing they did the right thing.
54. #49 - Eliyahu - Thanks for putting this in legal context
Canadian Otter   (08.06.07)
55. #53 question for you
Israel ,   Israel   (08.06.07)
All these soldiers you know, how many live in Sderot, Ashkelon, Netiv Haasara and Yad Mordechai?
56. #26 Thank you, Patriotic Soldier!
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (08.06.07)
Thank you for refusing to go to WAR against Jews!
57. Why didn't ALL of them refuse to attack Jews???
Canadian Otter   (08.06.07)
What they are being asked to do is inmoral. What they are being asked to do goes against their training, which is to fight enemies instead of Jews. Soldiers have every right to refuse an order that goes against morality, and an order that is contrary to the purpose of the army. No wonder the government does not make a bigger effort to recruit yeshiva men. They know that they'd be recruiting Jews with a conscience. Yeshiva men and their rabbis deserve congratulations for their stance.
58. Soldiers are absolutely correct
Yoel ,   Tel Aviv   (08.06.07)
The have the right not to 'fight" for Olmert's future and money is total lie directed at Olmert children who only know the value of money. Any soldier who will try to throw Jews from their home must be arrested at once and put in jail.
59. Identity Crisis
Abir ,   Chicago, IL   (08.06.07)
We are getting closer to the point where we will need to decide if Israel is a Jewish state (an exclusive club), or a secular democracy (a club open to all). These two seem to be in conflict of each other. If we choose to be a democracy, then it is incumbent on the armed forces to execute the decisions of a democratically elected government (and yes, in as much as we like to question the fact, this government WAS democratically elected). If optionalism seeps into the army and elsewhere, then we as might as well shut down the country and go our own ways. Back in 1982, when there was much argument over the legitimacy of Israel entering Lebanon, there were those in the military that chose to refuse orders and were dealt with accordingly. Similarly, these guys should be dealt with in accordance to military law. I believe military law is quite explicit as to refusal of orders and insubordination.
60. MayALL IDF Follow their Shining Example of LOYALTY to ISRAEL
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (08.06.07)
Thank you wonderful IDF patriots! Israel and the Free World are in a desperate battle for survival against global jihad. Hebron is the first Jewish city and second in Jewish holiness. In 1929, a barbaric Muslim massacre of Jews was perpetrated. It is a crime against humanity that Israeli leaders eagerly seek to give JEWISH property to the Muslim descendants of these murderers. JUSTICE and HUMAN RIGHTS for JEWS and other NON-MUSLIMS NOW!
