8. To Hamas, cooperation with Israel as bad as drug-dealing
wake up ,   Israel   (08.09.07)
Be wary. They are clearly recalcitrant, vehemently anti-Israel and anti-cooperation (aka anti-peace). Be careful if Fatah makes overtures towards them, as you are giving them guns.
9. obviously Hamas is trying to replicate Kadima's success

T.I ,   Israel   (08.09.07)
Hamas established a navy in Gaza's polluted shores, now we can hit them on the quiet ocean front. We are wrongly delaying a military operation, Gaza will be a Hizbullah's imaginative organization very soon ,unless we carry out a massive attack, we can still destroy the terrorist infrastructure there, it's possible. We can't overlook anymore how Hamastan becoming stronger.
11. M. Waked please think before writing
john ,   jerusalem   (08.09.07)
M. Waked. I know it can sound really sexy news but we expect from a journalit that he thinks before writing and doesnt relay all the propaganda of Hamas. First of all u call it "navy", what? Without boats? (pretty legitimate question that u even highlight) 2) U say they want to secure the shore of Gaza. ok u have on the gaza coasts israeli war boats equiped with heavy machine guns and artillery. On the other side u have a Hamas guy with a kalashnikov, some imprecise mortars and 'hand made" RPG's. What do u think hamas is going to secure. Without mentionning the eventual aerial support of the idf. The story is that hamas positionned some of its members on the gaza shore and that's it. So please M. Waked, let's be serious.

Marcel ,   Florida   (08.09.07)
There is something seriously wrong with a government who will not deal with the growing threat to the state and the safety of her citizens. Instead of going after hamas and fatah ,Israel directs it's police and army to clear out Jews from their homes, thereby encouraging this same enemy . You are doing the work of the enemies of Israel if you are a member of kadima, labor, likud because thye all support the final solution Road Map.

Its the Iranian C-802 missiles they need to be concerned about
15. maybe they can have a submarine and airforce
zionist forever   (08.09.07)
I am sure the IDF are trembling at the toghght of a Hamas navy that doesnt have any ships. Maybe we can give them a mask and snorkel and they can say they now have a submarine force even teach koran to the fish then they can have underwater spies look out for Israeli submarines to destroy If they flap their arms they might even start flying then they could have an airforce as well. Watch out world here comes the Hamas war machine .. I hope NATO has planned for this threat

For so long all of you rightest Jews have been saying that the Palestinians have never been able to set up a strong stable government. Well that's what Hamas is trying to do on their limited resources. What's wrong with Hamas attempting to protect its coastal area from foreign forces? I see nothing wrong with them at least trying to do this. Hamas is trying to establish and stabilize a government in an area that has been a mess. I don't really agree with Hamas, but at least they are working hard to build a stable country. Now all you rightists see this and want the IDF to go into Gaza, because you cannot stand to see the Palestinians living in anything but chaos and oppression.

Hamas thrives on chaos. They want nothing less than the destruction of Israel...only then will they stop terrorizing her. hat foreign force would ever attck gaza? What would be the motivation? Resources? Money? Oil? get real!!!
18. #16, stability = jobs, education, not war machines
David ,   Boston, USA   (08.09.07)
Hamas isnt trying to stabilize anything. It is a cancer trying to destroy all for the Islamic cause. Look at Japan, Germany, any nation that lost a war. They built an economy for their people. Thats how to stabilize. They arent building a navy to create a ship economy, its to destroy others.

I like your spunk. Now if you would, please tell us what Hamas has done to prevent another flood of shit onto its people? You do remember that fiasco, right?

Hamas got this land from the expulsion of the Jews.

Actually Israel is that foreign force and they have a right to defend themselves against Israel if Israelis boats enter their waters.

Hamas, while I don't agree with their theocratic governance and their use of terrorism, actually does a lot for the people economically. Charitable activities are actually how they got most of their support. Hamas is trying to build an economy through supporting agricultural and business ventures through loans and trying to build up infrastructure. Just because the media only paints Hamas as an entirely violent organization does not mean that is their entire focus. As I said, while I do not agree with Hamas' violent tendencies, I believe that they are very committed to building an economically stable Palestine. Granted it will be difficult for them to do this since they are entirely cut off from the rest of the world by Israel and cannot freely import/export. Also, humanitarian aid should be re-opened to Gaza. Germany and Japan didn't rebuild themselves without foreign help. Oh, and by the way, Israel would be nothing today without all the money they receive from overseas! Keeping foreign aid from Gaza and keeping it closed off will do nothing to cease violence. One of the main reasons for WWII was that the Germans were required to pay large reparations after the war and their economy collapsed. The reason we did not see a WWIII in Europe was because the US, UK, and France gave aid to their former enemies and allowed them to build a successful economy. Cutting off or reoccupying the Palestinians in Gaza will do nothing but increase hatred and violence.
23. hamas, hamas, hamas
richard mallin ,   tampa, us   (08.09.07)
all we hear today is about hamas, they are getting too big for their britches, and they're looking for a fight, the only problem there aren't enough old women to hide behind.

Don't scoff at Hamas because they can find the money to buy even a sub, if ,such an idea would appear to hasten the demise of the State of Israel. Countries like Iran or Saudi Arabia would finance them. The Arab/Muslim world has unlimited resources if it means the end of Israel.Never underestimate your enemy.

what you may not concieve of or understand is that there is no alligience in the arab states. arab union or arab unity is just an expression. at any given time, they can turn on one another if it suits their interests and the interest of the dictators holding the real power in those arab countries. this is why most arabs fight against each other and they have done so for centuries....has nothing to do with israel. the fight is for power, land, corruption, self interest, clan wars and tribal feuds. this is arab way and westerners' ideology and sense of democracy cannot comprehend the arab way of thinking, behaving and rational. this being said, you say that arab countries will finance hamas with whatever hamas desires.....just so they can destroy israel and eliminate it right? no, you are a fool to think that most arab dictator regimes like saudi arabia, lybia, egypt, jordan, qatar, uae, marocco, etc.... will give hamas the ammunition to destroy israel. you know why???? because arab dictators NEVER GIVE AN INCH to anyone that can topple their regimes as well. hamas is a threat to egypt, jordan, saudi arabia, the gulf states, etc.... if israel is gone and destroyed, these dictators can kiss their countries and regimes good bye. israel, as a matter of fact, is the only stabilizing force in the middle east and therefore very important to the usa and other civilized countries. after all, israel itself is doing the dirty bloody work for the war on terrorism for the usa and europe.....on its grounds, nontheless. they suffer the brunt of terror attacks. israel gone will give hamas a boost to topple the arab regimes in other countries just like syria did in lebanon or attempted to do through iran and hizbullah...and then islamize the region. no, israel stays!
26. I cant believe it
M ,   NZ   (02.02.09)
Did you all miss the fact that this force was also established to combat criminals??? They are called a navy because thier focus is on Naval operations. And Isreal are a disgrace, As far as i can see thier ongoing harrasment of nieghbouring states, disregard for human life, the UN and the Geneva Convention are a disgrace to the modern world. Hamas needs to revise its tactics, but thier defiance is understandable. What good is a man that isnt willing to fight to keep his family fed. Regardless of religion, history or anything else. So many warmongers commenting, and thats the problem. Balance is needed. Hamas is not a conventional military. So dont use conventional methods(blow the crap out of everything that moves)
