1. For Israel, Peace with Palestinians is Undesirable
Hani ,   Palestine   (08.10.07)
2. Peace not imminent? You're kidding.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (08.10.07)
I thought it was right around the corner. Any day now. All we have to do is pack up & leave. Isn't that what the peace process is all about?
3. Escaping again
(08.10.07)
you are complaining from 3-5 years of rockets attak and you forgot that you attak them since more than 60 years .... no way with you .
4. Don't believe a word about no withdrawals
Michelle ,   Vancouver   (08.10.07)
First of all, Barak is not in charge. Olmert is. Or more accurately, Bush is. And Bush is determined to have one "success" in his presidency of utter failure. And that success is to give the Palestinians a state, whether they are ready or not. So before the next American elections, you can be sure that there will be a state. Unless you can stop it. They will prop up Abbas, look away from his corruption, weakness and double dealing, and set him up as President of the Republic of Palestine, which will include Gaza. The Saudis will demand that the WB and Gaza be connected by a corridor, and whatever is left over after surrendering the Golan and Jerusalem, it's for the Israelis. For the time being. Until the next Palestinian demands the day after they get their statehood.
5. Barak has probably more wisdom than P-whatever his name was.
Ralph Haglund ,   Lund, Sweden   (08.10.07)
Barak's treatment of Israel-loving Jews has been miserable so far, but at least he dares to say obvious things, not fly in the clouds. FIRST an absolute stop for hate propaganda from Palestinian media and mosques AND an amendment of the basis, the PLO Charter - then one can go on with discussions!
6. No Peace imminent with Palestinians
I.Kemp ,   Nahariya,   (08.10.07)
"Peace" could be imminent if Barak does now what he would do anyway given a second chance (he tried it with Arafat and failed ) and that is give away the State of Israel just as he fled from Lebanon when PM. Keep Olmert in power or vote for Barak as PM and you won't have a state.
7. I'm not waiting 3-5 years
Marcel ,   Florida   (08.10.07)
You Jews must leave the West Bank before three to five years . You must all be gone before my term in office ends. I promised the Saudi's and the Islamic world that the Palestinians would have their sovereign state in a matter of months. If Barak keep this up I will call for PM Olmert to remove him from his position and replaced with a more pliable and useful idiot. George ,King of Babylon.
8. 1 - you're right
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (08.10.07)
why would anyone want an islamic "peace" with people who celebrate when any jew dies and praise murdering terrorists when they slaughter women and their babies? israel wants peace with people who want peace, and the palestinians do not qualify in that regard.
9. 5 - Ralph - the loss of land is forever
Michelle ,   Vancouver   (08.10.07)
promises of stopping hate propaganda could be here today and gone tomorrow.
10. Arabs want End of Israel
John ,   London,UK   (08.10.07)
No peace with Palestinians? Experts say Arabs dont want peace with Israelis either, especially not after they have won elections in Gaza and defeat pro-Israeli and US backed Fatah. I'm affraid that the Israeli dream of living at peace with Palestinians is, not going to be realised. When Iran is now openly backing Hamas and other militant groups in West Bank, it seems that Israel's days are numbered. Weapons and money is shipping from Tehran right into Gaza and Jerusalem. Israel's enemies are being armed to the teeth. Think tanks have said that Hezbollah is itching for another war so that this time they can invade Israel and once and for all finish Israel. Iran has vowed to wipe Israel off the face of the Earth. I dont think President Ahmedinejad was kidding. He has already set Israel up for destruction by getting Syria on its side. Iran would like to see civil war in Lebanon so its interest can be served. In a civil war Hezbollah will have a chance to attack Tel Aviv and send thousands of missiles on Israeli cities. Israel wont be able to re-invade because it cannot handle Hezbollah since last civil war. Syria also said it will use guerilla tactics like Hezbollah to attack Israel. Iranian forces are already helping Syrian army how to defeat Israeli military. A Nightmare for Israel is coming soon just as Ahmedijead and Nasrallah predicted. They have clearly said that countdown has stared towards destruction of Israel. Only way to to avoid this is to make friends with Syria to get Iran out of there.
11. Keep ID for Security Perhaps, but Remove Settlers Now
Mr. Knowitall ,   Forstbite Falls, MN   (08.10.07)
I think that keeping the IDF on the border of the occupied West Bank for a few years is reasonable, or better yet a UN force to provide a secure buffer, but the settlers should be removed right away to facilitate the peace process. There is no sense for Israel to spend another shekel on the settlement enterprise when it is clear that they will be withdrawn very soon, so spend the money building new settlements in the Negev or Galilee where Israel’s future lies and stop wasting money in the occupied Palestinian territories. It is time for Israel to give the Palestinians their freedom, their 40-year sentence for the crime of living there first is quite enough, and now it is time to forgive their crimes under a General Amnesty as Israel did to its own terrorists, and move on for crying out loud. War mongers like Barak will only bring destruction to Israel and more shame to the Jewish people, and should be removed from office before it is too late.
12. To John #10. Seeing His Previous Tract Record.
Maansingh ,   The Netherlands   (08.11.07)
You write :".. as Ahmedinejad and Nasrallah predicted." Regarding the predictions of Nasrallah -- even the Lebanese are disgusted with him, considering the mayhem, wholesale destruction and misery his prediction brought about on them LAST year. SO, sane people will NOT follow Nasrallah this time -- seeing his previous tract record. Regarding Ahmedinejad's predicions -- the Ayatollahs of Teheran are having serious doubts about his mental functioning. So much so that they are viewing him nowadays as a liability.

Greg ,   LA, USA   (08.11.07)
No-one wants an 'islamic peace'. But also no-one wants a little bully in ME to dictate the world who's good, and who's not. World is watching you, and YOU are loosing the points. "israel wants peace with people who want peace", oh yeah? LOL. IF there was a peace, Israel would have to give back (at least some of) occupied (illegally) Palestinians territories. That is NOT a zionist vision of the world.

To paraphrase your talkback's subject: "Jews want End of Arabs". What are you talking about, dude? How would YOU feel if so called Pax Americana's boot ("the only correct thinking in XXI century") stepped on your country?! Would you listen to a propaganda, or fight for your country?!?! I cannot say much here anyways, sturmbanfuhrer Admin will cut my deeper thoughts..... so why bother? Believe in what you want to believe and gfy.

you say: "IF there was a peace, Israel would have to give back (at least some of) occupied (illegally) Palestinians territories." heard of GAZA? or, wait. let me guess: you probably believe gaza is still occupied. listen, israel is a beacon of freedom in the middle east, especially compared to your islamic thugocracies which poison the region. if the truth happens to be "zionist", then i'll gladly call myself a zionist.
