1. Taglit changed our kids' lives
Sue ,   Los Angeles   (08.12.07)
Taglit did amazing things for our children. They all had a great time, made new friends and strengthened their connection to Israel and the Jewish community. Every eligible young person should go on this trip!
2. What a wonderful gesture! Thank you Mr Adleson.

rh ,   Modiin   (08.12.07)
Wasting money on hundreds of banners welcoming the visitors is not ok in my book, but hey it is his money. We want more Anglo Olim by who the best in the country.
4. ADELSON GIFT: 24.0000 free visits to IL
Nora ,   Tel Aviv   (08.12.07)
Sorry, but the question arises: What is the rentability rate for all those free Birthrite visits? As there is nosuch thingas a free meal, Is Birthrite a free meal? Where is the accountability of such a project?

7. Taglit and the Israel experience
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (08.13.07)
Last year my young cousin from Sydney, Australia, came on a Taglit Tour. I was not able to see him as the tour organizers forbad these young people to travel by public transport. Any visitor to Israel know that part of the “Israeli Experience” is travel on an Egged bus so, while the project concept is laudable, it is just another "rose tinted glasses tour" of Israel. One just has to look at the news on TV or Ynet to see that Israel is probably one of the least dangerous places to be in. After all, we did not have nearly 3,000 people killed on 9/11 nor did we have 200 killed in Madrid and Bali. Let us remember that many of the victims in the Bali terror attack were Australians!
8. Bravo
Noah ,   Toronto, Canada   (08.13.07)
I was on Birthright in 2001 and it changed my life, introducing Israel as a huge part of it. Had I not been on Birthright, I would not have gotten more involved and probably would not be looking to make aliyah. It opened my eyes to a great nation and I am privileged to have had the opportunity. I am glad that more people will continue to have the opportunity to participate in this great program. Do not forget that while Birthright is somewhat limited and sheltered, it invariably leads to further inquiry and further embracing of the Jewish nation.
9. #4 #7 free, fun, safe trip
Sue ,   Los Angeles   (08.13.07)
#4They get the trip with no strings attached. What happens after is the kids can't wait to return to Israel to travel, to study, and some - to live. There are Taglit reunions, events and a web site so alumni can keep in touch with each other and meet new people. Last year during the war many Taglit alumni attended meetings on how to become advocates for Israel by countering the anti-Israel propaganda in the media and on college campuses. #7 Many participants choose to stay in Israel after the trip to spend time with relatives or friends. The Taglit trip is only 10 days and they have a lot of Israel to see - a lot of fun activities all under the watchful eye of Taglit staff and security. During the trip the kids keep in touch with family through cell phone. We have 3 kids who did the trip, one who is now a Taglit counselor. I can't recommend this program highly enough!
10. Am I the only one?
CRF ,   USA   (08.13.07)
SHIMON PERES! STOP STARING AT THAT GIRL'S BOOBS!!! Didn't we just have a problem with the last president, and yet more antics already? So it begins...
11.  TAGLIT IS A MITZVA
Nina ,   Los Angeles   (08.13.07)

12. Pathetic
Jewish CANADIAN ,   Toronto Canada   (08.13.07)
In a world awash with poverty, hunger, disease and a degraded environment THIS is where a billionaire donates his money??Well, its his money but I can't help but weep at such a warped sense of values and such a lost opportunity to do some real service to mankind.
13. #12 It's a 'real service' to ME,
Sue ,   Los Angeles   (08.13.07)
American Jewish mother struggling to keep my kids Jewish against the tidal wave of assimilation. And it's a 'real service' to Jews not only in Israel but around the world. These kids start their Taglit trips with little to no connection to Israel and the Jewish community. After the trip they become supporters and advocates. Taglit alumni are involved in all kinds of mitzvot. If you are really a Jew, then you know what that word means.
14. Ahh # 13 NOW I see!!
Jewish CANADIAN ,   Toronto   (08.14.07)
Your kids, living in the freest, richest and most open society the world has ever known face a "tidal wave of assimilation"! Well THAT is surely more deserving of charity than a starving child in Africa,Or to help find a cure for cancer. Or to see a deserving youngster get an education,I could go on and on......but I see that free vacations to Israel for overwhemingly middle class(or richer) kids is a higher priority. Mitvot indeed.
15. Now, if only I can get Mr. Adelson to pay for my trips to
Rebecca   (08.14.07)
Israel...I go to pray for my beloved friend Ariel Sharon because it is such a comfort to me to be near him, even though I am not allowed to see him. I need help paying the hotel bills, too. Last year, I stayed for four months because the music he plays on my heartstrings is so beautiful. He needs me to be near him.
16. Israel, Judaism and helping the world
Michael Waterman ,   Encino, California   (08.15.07)
Jews have been disproportionately represented on the lists of Nobel prize winners. Similarly, they have been the scientists who have found cures for the world's worst diseases in proportionate numbers that are far greater than their tiny population. The incredible discoveries coming out of Israel (farming, irrigation, computer concepts, etc.) are second only to the U.S. Jews are taught to help others (Tikkun Olam) through their religion. By perpetuating Judaism, we are helping create new Jews who will help save the world! Thank you for your foresight and for your menschllichkeit Mr. Adelson!
17. to # 14
Andras Bereny ,   Kfar Tapuah, Shomron   (08.16.07)
It's far too long that Jews paid over the nose for non Jewish causes in an attempt to buy if not the love, at least the appreciation of the gentile. Well, it never came. And yes, it is vital to connect Jews lost in the galut with their homeland and with the Jews living there. Vital!
18. LAS VEGAS HAS A 25 MILLION JEWISH CENTER THANKS TO ADELSOHN
