1. The Best Falafel
Susan ,   Israel   (08.16.07)
As far as I know, the best falafel in Paris can be found in the Marais section at the very popular place called "L'As du Falafel".
2. Falafel-balls dipped in vinegar in Germany - no way!
German ,   Germany   (08.16.07)
Where did you get the information from that Germans dip their falafel-balls in vinegar? That is something I would call an urban legend.... Maybe you confused us with the English, they like their malt vinegar with fired items for sure ;-) Some people here prefer a yoghurt-dip turkish style with their falafel, but cerntainly never heard of flafel & vinegar over here....
3. Maoz falafel is great
Lang Soldaat ,   Amsterdam   (08.16.07)
Maoz falafel in Amsterdam (especially on the Rembrandt plain) is great. However the reason the Israeli identification dissappeared was political. Originally ('93-'94), the Israeli flag appeared together with flags of other countries and the Hebrew "falafel kmo ba'aretz". Around 1996 the Hebrew and the Israeli flag were erased while all other flags remained. The reason? From 1993, dislike for Israel and anything Israeli gradually increased amongst non-moslim Europeans including the previously pro-Israeli Dutch. There was a real fear that the stand would be avoided if its Israeli origins were known.
4. LONG LIVE ARAB FALAFEL
ahmed ,   Egypt   (08.16.07)

7. The Best Falafel( 1 )
Alan ,   dania beach, florida   (08.16.07)
Susan was not nice of you to rain on their parade, but that is just typical israeli. To Nachman and Sima Milo The Best To You, and Good Luck.
8. Reply to # 7
Susan ,   Israel   (08.16.07)
You completely misunderstood me by saying that I wanted to "rain on their parade." I got my information about the popularity of "L'As du Falafel" from a Paris Forum, where both tourists and local Parisians participate. Maoz falafel is mentioned only a few times in forum discussions, while the other place is mentioned and praised over 80 times.
9. It started 16 years ago????
Salameh ,   Gaza, Palestine   (08.16.07)
Yet another example of how zionists distort facts and fabricate stories, they steal our land and pretend that it all started 60 years ago, and prior to that Arab Palestinians did not exist !!! now we ate falafel for 1000 years, and the world knew about it for generations from the Arabs, but according to zionist interprise it was bauz who DISCOVERED it 16 years ago!!! short-lived lies have short-lives memories
10. To the arab readers
Rami ,   Nazareth, israel   (08.16.07)
Instead of always whining on how Israel stole your traditional dish, what u need to do is show your pride by promoting it to the word in an even better way than the Israelis do. That way you can show everybody who’s the real Falafel King. Other than that stop whining and go do something constructive.
11. Jews had falafel for generations
Yossi   (08.16.07)
Yo, Arab dudes, Sephardic Jews have lived in Arab countries for centuries. They have had falafel just as long as you! Maybe take some pride in the fact that a country adopted falafel as a 'national food' instead of getting cranky.
12. Falafel in Paris - to Susan #1 and 8
Gilbert ,   Paris   (08.16.07)
Note that the picture of the paper presents the "Roi (king) du Falafel" 's shop located 11 rue des Rosiers 75004 , with orthodox cacherout teouda. It is the best known falafel shop in Paris. You confused As and Roi.
13. In fact.......
Susan ,   Israel   (08.16.07)
The picture in the above article is actually a photo of "L'As du Falafel". I've just compared it to one on Google, and it is identical.
14. Reply to # 12
Susan ,   Israel   (08.16.07)
The place that I am referring to is definitely called "L'As du Falafel", and it's located on 34 Rue des Rosiers.
15. # 11 - Check your information
Khalid ,   The Netherlands   (08.16.07)
Check your information with Jews originating from different Arab countries, and you will find out that Falafel has been known only to those Jews coming from Arab countries where Falafel is already a popular dish (Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine). It is not known for Morroccan Jews for example, where Falafel is not a known dish there. It is an Arabic dish specific to the Levant region. So stop twisting the facts and stop manipulating history
16. The best Falafels can only be found in Israel!
freejay ,   Israel   (08.16.07)
17. Removal of the Israeli Idebtifications
Khalid ,   The Netherlands   (08.16.07)
According to Nachman and Sima, removal of the Israrli identifications was done for marketing purposes ??Give me a break, and tell me what those marketing purposes were. The truth behind the matter is the increasing anti-Israeli feelings among the Dutch population who are progressively becoming acquainted with the realities and injustices of occupation, settlements, the wall, ... In fact it is not only that Israeli signs were removed, but also the distancing of any association with Israel which you can sense when visiting any ogf those francuises in The Netherlands. The real reason for the removal of those Israeliidentifications is that they are simply bad for business
18. I agree with you #15
Siad ,   arabian peninsule   (08.16.07)
turks and israelies are taking our dishes our memories and our culture.Shawarma, falafel and kabab are part of ARAB dishes.
19. Falafel - NOT arab
(08.16.07)
Just as the Land of Israel, the Falafel doesn't belong to the arabs. The Falafel's origin dates back to India, and from there it spread to the Mediterranean and other places. The people of the Mediterranean were not arabs for a good part of history, and Falafel was already adopted by them way before the arab conquest. So arabs, stop lying and stop crying like babies.
20. Who cares about yordim?
jason white ,   afula,israel   (08.16.07)
They can take their falafel and shove them up # 4's a**.his mouth is up there.
21. mY BROTHER SAYS...
Falafel King ,   Palestine   (08.16.07)
my brother, who is an expert in eating, especially in eating falafel, declares : " it is not important where falafel comes from, it's important where and how it goes, hence , any nation could claim ownership over any food if it can respect it's recipe!" ... while giving us this honest speech, my brother is eating falafel....
22. #19 i´m from bombay ( India ) and i don´t know Falafel.
Simpur   (08.17.07)
I want to probe it.
23. OK Falafel is Arab I Grant You That
Seth ,   Washington, DC   (08.17.07)
But we'll take credit for the Six-Day War, monotheism, Gefilte Fish, The Bible, Lenny Bruce, Albert Einstein, Sandy Koufax, Matzoh, and the revolutionary "Abrahamic" religion that inspired both Christianity & Islam.
24. Khalid
Yossi ,   USA   (08.17.07)
Khalid, Jews have had a presence in Egypt, Syria and Lebanon have been in those countries for centuries as well. Since they are loosely classified as Sephardic I am NOT twisting facts. Buh bye :-D
25. Solution to the Middle East
Mark ,   Israel   (08.17.07)
Finally, there is a normal discussion having to due with the Middle East that does not involve political leaders, the United Nations, or fanatics. Food conquers all.
26. Why Jews are eating our Falfel ??
Lebanese Citizen   (08.17.07)

29. Hajii national treasure
kyle ,   las vegas   (08.17.07)
That is about the funniest thing ever let them have the falafel as their national treasure, because everything else is shit i guess. The pyramids are nothing compared to their great falafel. The Western Wall is a treasure, not something that passes through your digestive system. Stupid Hajii.
30. actually #17 khalid
jack bauer   (08.17.07)
The fact is it is not dutch who have a problem with jews! I know, I am dutch! khalid, you are not! The invasive moslem immigrants, and the crappy twisted ideas they bring with them from their hellholes, are the ones who made them feel threatened enough to remove the stickers, niet nederlanders..... oranje boven
