Why didnt Olmert go visit the girl personly the man is the PM and it was because of him that she was injured. He didnt even anouce himself how sorry he was this had happened. If his motorcade had hit a palestian child I am sure the first thing he would do is order the drivers to stop and then personly try and comfort her look after her till the ambulances arrive. Then he would later be down at the hospital with the tv cameras to hold her hand. He would say its a sign Israel wants peace with the palestians.

The convoy rightfully proceeded out of the area from what likely appeared to have been a staged incident. It now appears not to have been staged but, when charged with the absolute safety of any high value target, responsible security personnel remove their principal from an unknown situation and toward known safety. Aid was lent by the occupants of the car involved and emergency medical services were activated. The Prime Minister stopping at the scene would not have made any difference, and could have put his life in jeopardy.

All those who bemoan Olmert for not stopping at the accident or for running red light seriously need to get a grip. Your hatred of him is blinding you from being rational. Like Olmert or hate him, the fact remains that we would very quickly lose our elected leaders if they were to follow your suggestions. When the Prime Minister of Israel (or the leaders of every other high-profile nation) travels around he is a target. Stopping at traffic lights would be foolish and irresponsible, as would stopping at the scene of an accident. It wouldn't take long for our enemies to take advantage of that. My personal views of Olmert aside, the actions taken were proper and would have been taken irrespective of which Prime Minister was in the motorcade.
