The US didn't help Israel financially or militarily until after the six day war. The US has fought no wars for Israel. The US has fought two wars against Iraq now, not to mention the war of attrition/no fly zone war. If we withdraw precipitously soon we will fight another war there in the future. These wars were fought for US interests. The US supports Israel, like it supports Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, and others because, in short, it's the right thing to do. They are US allies and Americans are in agreement on this, as much as we agree on anything. Saying that Israelis are whiners just shows your bias. They have fought against long odds to survive in a neighborhood where only the strong survive. They have developed a strong economy and a real democracy, where neither were givens or easy or even required. Israel deserves your respect, not your foolish biased remarks.
