Flatten the entire city and surrounds with a couple of those 'secret' hydrogen-thermo devices, (known to govts. as the 'Clean Alternative'). Yes yes ya'll!

edan ,   israel   (08.20.07)
aright pissing off syria is good, for israel not the united states. syria is connected to al cida hamas and hizbula know pissing off syria isint good for the us now syria will give al cida a whole lot of stuff. then they would'nt have enouph shi.t of there oun and then israel will blow up the stuff they alredy have. (no more stuff for syria.
7. If this Tishrin recognizes...
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (08.20.07)
That Israel is not directly responsable for this daily tragedies, why doesn't he push Siria and other arabs to real conversations towards peace, and finally find a beautifull place for all arabs ,pushing to live in Israel, to live among their ows.I mean all arabs-West Bank;Gaza,Haifa,Tel aviv, etc. They will only gain by doing so. Israel will be their friends and help them to improve and thrive always! Everybody must be in its right place, only then peace will be achieved. If US is spoiling peace, let's make it ourselves then! Just let us live in peace in our own land and you in yours.Greedness spoils everything! It is simple!
8. We are slippin'!
Jonas ,   SAD   (08.20.07)
FIRST, we were responsible for all wars in the world. Second, we were controling USA. Then, bit by bit, this started to shatter. And now, "Even if Israel is not directly responsible for the daily killings, tragedies, and war crimes in the region, it is an accomplice to those," ???? WTF?
9. Sadly, the Syrians have a point
Adam Keller ,   Holon, Israel   (08.20.07)
I am sad and ashamed to say that the Syrians have a point. If we had a goverment willing to pay the price of peace - i.e., withdrawal from the occupied Golan - we would be now well on the way to peace, and facing no threat on the northern borders.
10. How long will we wait ?
Ariya Gothelf ,   Gedera Israel   (08.20.07)
You know how jews are , we will wait til the right moment to take advantage of any mistake made by our enemies. Iran belongs to American Forces because no army calls out the USA and doesn't pay a heavy price for it on both sides mind you.Iran may have new weapons but you know that America will bring out everything it has to establish "Peace through Superior Fire Power" . Now Syria do you really think that the IDF used all its power in Lebennon 2, you got to see a few bombs and a few planes dropping percision targets . What happens when we don't have to take into account where we drop bombs and take heavy tolls on our enemies .Do you really think IDF used all its best and most dangerous weapons yet ? ,

Keren ,   Israel-SP   (08.20.07)
You are a proof that what is badly lacking in Israel is education on its own History! How can Jews Israelis(in the case you are israeli or Jew) be sooooo ignorant?HOW?!
12. To 10# from a Syrian
Sami ,   Syria, Halab   (08.20.07)
Look, what about dropping a peace message instead of bombs? I cant fully understand your point, as it is definitely not rational and only give rise to more hate. Syria and its people would choose peace at any given day (we want to get along with our life), which I also believe rational Israeli people would. If war happens I would truly be very sad, as this could have been prevented by both sides and would only set Israel and Syria many years back. I am not going to comment on your threat of using more fire power against Syria, as I think it is just silly to hear.
13. #9, Adam...
DR ,   Florida, USA   (08.20.07)
You are not learning from history. We laft Gaza, what did we get? We left Lebanon, what did we get? We give an inch, they want a mile. This is not going to change.
14. #12...lets face reality!
DR ,   Florida, USA   (08.20.07)
No one wants war. But Syria, the lesser puppet of Iran, gives money, weapons and safe harbor to Hezballah, aterror group which attacked Israel. to me, thatis a decleration of war. Syria can try to hide behind its words, but when it comes down to it...it is aggrevating the situation. As for the Golan, why does Syria insiston getting it back? Do they need it for anything else other than a strategic lookout over Israel? They attcked Isarel before and lost...deal with it. Agian, no one "wants" war, but sometime it is forced upon you.
15. #12 - Because.....
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (08.20.07)
your government is a proxy for the fascists in Tehran and has supported the destablization of Lebanon and Northern Israel for decades. We understand that Assad wants the entire Golan back, and that would be a disaster for Israel. People here want peace too, Sami, but take a look at the lies being printed about Israel in your own newspapers. Start talking peace yourselves and you will find that Israel is a very reasonable country to deal with diplomatically. The comment about superior firepower is a response to the stupid statement in the Syrian newspaper about how Hizbullah defeated us last summer. Take a look at Lebanon and consider Israel's superior military strength that was not released, and you will see that it did not. And if we are thretened by Syria our army will do what it has to do.
16. #12 Bush wants war!
MARK ,   BOSTON   (08.20.07)
Bush will talk peace after he sells weapons, bombs, and guns to the entire Mideast. His idea of peace is War. He knows that selling weapons does not promote peace. He has opposed peace talks. He openly supports war!
17. WHAT WAR STATEMENTS BY ISRAELI OFFICIALS??

woww ,   LA, USA   (08.20.07)
You are right, it's mostly rhetorics on both sides from the warmongers. On the other hand there is a lot to gain from peace. Question is can Syria afford to piss of some other arab countries or most of all Iran if it settles her disputes with Israel and stops supporting Hizbollah and Hamas. I hope you guys do realize we have only one true request from you: stop killing us.
21. I've never heard so much garbage before!
(08.20.07)
Tishrin is a liar. It is Syria who rejects peace talks with Israel, and spouts war rhethoric to sound macho to its Arab neighbors. Syria, you are a lying, whining wimp and you are gonna end up as a goat pen.
22. Whi is Israel holding back?
David Turner ,   SRichmond, US   (08.23.07)
How much direction does the Olmert government allow the Bush administration? And why? The Bush record on ME diplomacy/war has been abysmal to date. Had the US not invaded Afghanistan and Iraq then Iran would still be distracted by her hostile neighbors instead of asserting hegemony over the Arabian oil fields and threatening Israel; they would not be moving towards the nuclear potential giving teeth to those threats. And as to those hapless countries invaded by the US, both are socially and politically in chaos, the war increasing, not reducing. Score three major failures for Bush. Then there is the election Bush forced on a reluctant Abbas and Israel: Hamas victorious, and now seceded with half of all Palestinians. Score 4 for Bush. The Hezbollah War, with Bush enthusiastic pre-war, but ordering Israel to not cross the Litani. And where did he think Hezbollah was? Score 5. And now Syria, all but blockaded by Bush, Israel all but ordered not to talk to the Terror State. But Syria is the key to containing Iranian terror. And surely Iran would be high on Israels list of topics needing negotiation. And all signs from Syria have been that Assad wants to break free of Iran, but cant because that is the only state in the region offering aid and comfort. Score 6? And now Bush proposes jump-starting talks with Abbas over Statehood and Peace. As if Abbas could deliver on those topics even at the height of his authority, before the Bush-insisted elections. The list of Bush failures is endless. The US administration is both naive and wrongheaded in its priorities and diplomacy. For Bush the only option has always been the military. And now Syria. If peace with that country can be achieved, and the hard decisions for Israel, the return of the Golan, were already agreed to by successive preceding Israeli governments (including Bibi), Israel achieves quiet on the northern border, has access to Freedom Park (the Golan), cultivates a new commerce and tourism partner with her former enemy and, perhaps more important strategically, pushes Iran back to her international frontier, insulates Hezbollah and Hamas, eliminates the Iranian threat to the Arabian Peninsula from the north. All this and, for kicker, jump-starts the Saudi Initiative possibly achieving Israels long-term strategic goal, peace and acceptance by the extended Moslem world. So lets see, Why does Israel hesitate to talk with Syria? Is it Bush, or is it fear of the unknown, a possible real peace in which Israel can concentrate on social, rather than military development?
23. blaa, blaa, blaa, blame Bush
David Powell ,   Everett, Wa. USA   (08.23.07)
David #22 is using the same old retoric of blame Bush. Perhaps Bush will be the last president who supports Israel and will defeat terrorism. Wait and see what Hell-ery and Osama Obama does.
24. Assad wants a war, blame it on US
rick mallin ,   Tampa, fl   (08.23.07)
The Syrians are armed to the teeth. 'Be careful, do not boast and if you have a war with them, keep your eyes on Lebanon and Gaza. If god willing you are successful demand a surrender, if you get a cease fire your brave soldiers died in vain. Bush-1st gave Saddam a ceasefire in 1991. the rest is history
25. For #24: Assad wants war, so Damascus can be twin to Beirut?
David Turner ,   Richmond, US   (08.24.07)
Think, what has Syria to gain in provoking war with the far superior military machine which is Tsahal? To die a martyr's death? I don't think so. And since nothing else makes sense regarding his oft-repeated challenge to Olmert to entr peace talks, we might consider the possibility that he is indeed serious about peace. For the paranoid among us I suppose we might choose to believe that his offers are disinformation, intended into lulling Israel for a "surprise attack." Some surprise as the air force bombs Syrian positions from Golan to Damascus! Just doesn't add up. But what does seem to make sense is Israel intelligence assessments that he truly wants out of the corner: freedom from Iran's hug, and an opening back to the Sunni side of the street. And peace with Israel would provide just that. might be just what he needs to save his regime, also. No, there is a place for paranoia in the Jewish psyche, but in regards to making peace with our neighbors? We did it with Egypt, the most dangerous; and with Jordan (in the 1960's the thinking was, "we don't know which Arab country will be the first to make peace with Israel. But the second will be Lebanon). Fact is, no chance for peace with Lebanon, or Palestine without first coming to terms with Syria. Let's muster the courage to at least test Assad. What do we have to lose?
