I agree with (and understand) what the paramedic said- "it's more difficult to resuscitate someone effectively when you're afraid of being stabbed." That makes sense to me. Who are these people- the're presumably the deceased man's friendly neighbors in the Old City of Acco.

Okay, okay, lets get down to where the rubber meets the road. In New York City and other US cities, cabbies were often times attacked while picking up fares in some minority neighborhoods. Once upon a time, In some neighborhoods in Richmond, ambulances got shot at and robbed. The police fared little better. (They can shoot back.) As a result, all emergency calls were responded to for a while with the fire department along for support. The fire department accompanyed ambulances for a time and the phenomenon vanished. Apparently one of two things occured, 1) people like firemen or at least like to watch them put out fires and so let them do their thing, and 2) perhaps the fire departments' community activity and local nature gained them more respect. The fire department sets up or attends community events in an effort to teach children not to hide from firemen in all their gear. The goal is to teach children to come to the fireman. Anyway, they set up smokey buildings, etc. Perhaps, in the future, the fire department should be sent to accompany the ambulance. Also, the fire departments are more local than other emergency responders.

In Great Britain, government spokesman were instructed not to use the phrase "Muslim terrorist", even if actions were conducted in the name of Islam. Perpetrators are often referred to as "Asians". Never mind that's a slap at law abiding Chinese or Hindu immigrants. In France, young Arab rioters are referred to as "youths". In Israel, the facts of this case are buried further. It is sad that I, as another woman, should have to point out that the decline in justice in the justice system is paralleled with the increase of women prosecuters and women judges in the system.
