Boy, are you going to get it now, hehehe. Btw and though I'm not ready to be cremated, I am, definitely the victim of natural causes, one of whom just walked through the door and is reading this tb :-)

Haim K ,   Pittsburgh   (08.23.07)
Jews with tattoos can certainly be buried in Jewish cemetaries according to Jewish law. You should check your sources my friend. There is nothing ridiculous about Jewish law, we are not other nations, and our bodies are to be left intact as much as possible. It is our customs, and a Jewish state should follow it as such.
33. Whoever said G-d will still love you cremated or not
BUSH ,   USA   (08.23.07)
Sorry ladies and gentlemen just like you have no right to cremate your neighbor after he dies you have no right to cremate yourself after you die for the same reason. IT IS NOT YOUR BODY!! If it is yours like the car you bought or the house you built so then you would have created yourself also or bought yourself after birth. It might be your life but it is not your body. Democratic my butt

ashes to ashes, dust to dust..... doesn't this mean we should dispose of bodies such that the remains get recycled into the environment? i.e. put them underground in flimsy containers or cremate.....but don't isolate them in impenetrabe tombs. And if we are directed to recycle our remains, why do we prevent re-use of burial grounds (after appropriate amount of time)?
35. The bible says Moab ceased to be a nation because it passed
Rivkah   (08.23.07)
kings through the fire (cremation). There were other reasons, but that was a principle reason. Who is a king? Kings may be heads of nations or Jews who are Jews in their hearts, which Rabbi Yeshua said Gentiles must become to enter the kingdom of heaven. His followers were described as kings, saints, and priests. For people who are NOT Jews in their hearts, it does not matter if the body is cremated or not in my opinon. It was for the cremation of kings that Moab ceased to be a nation. Kings and rulers are God's representatives on earth, whether they realize it or not since God is the King of Kings.
36. #35 rulers are God's representative!; do u adores Olmert?

What should be outlawed and condemned is crime. Instead they promote and encourage it. Live and let live is apparently not compatible with religion. Result: we are no better than Iran and the Arab countries ruled by the fundamentalists. People who want to be cremated should be able to have this choice just as much as people who choose not to keep shabath and mix food. What is next? Will the law support burning grocery stores, hitting people because they don't keep shabat, forcing married women to wear wigs and girls skirts? What is wrong with this country?
38. #36 "Observer": Good and bad rulers are acountable to God
Rivkah   (08.23.07)
in a way that ordinary people are not. It is like preachers and priests are held MORE accountable than people who do not teach. Do I adore Exc. Mr. Olmert? I try to only adore God. War leaders are usually unpopular, even if they are excellent in ruling during battles because people lose their properties and friends and relatives and are angry. Even Sir Winston Churchill was voted out of office after being a World War II British Prime Minister on the winning side of the war. I am sure there are a lot of things Mr. Olmert would do differently in another war. Experience comes from making mistake. Moses made big mistakes, but God still made him the leader of the Hebrews because there was a humility in Moses' heart God loved. King David made mistakes, too. When he did, he turned to the Lord for guidance and repented of the things he did that may have caused defeat. I hope Mr. Olmert has that kind of humility to turn to the Lord and ask Him for guidance. Experience eventually leads to hope. Walt Disney failed in his first business adventure and said it was the best teacher he ever had. He went on to establish successful businesses such as Disneyland, Disney World, and Disney Studios. You will notice that evern Golda Meir(son) was not popular after a war Israel won.
39. M. Hartley 18...I guess keeping half of your husband's ashes
(08.24.07)
on the mantle beats keeping the family dog's ashes there or stuffing the dog for future generations. You should see what can be done with a carcass. Go to Apple Valley in California and see movie star Roy Rogers' horse Trigger mounted and stuffed. At least the public was spared seeing Dale Evan's corpse stuffed and mounted. Juan Peron of Argentina had Evita embalmed and put into a glass topped coffin on view in his office. The Russians do that with leaders. I do not think Miss Manners would approve of all of this, although using a brass urn with hubby's ashes for a door stop may be appealing to her.

41. What about the rights of other faiths?
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (08.24.07)
I read many comments about Israel being democratic. If so, what about the rights of the large number of Christians who are citizens of the State of Israel? Surely they have a right to choose? The following is a quote from CNN (http://edition.cnn.com/2000/WORLD/meast/08/06/israel.holocaust.ap/): “He (Rabbi Ovadia Josef) said the 6 million Holocaust victims "were reincarnations of the souls of sinners, people who transgressed and did all sorts of things that should not be done. They had been reincarnated in order to atone." We all know that no Shas MK says anything without the blessing of Rabbi Ovadia Josef, and we all know what his views are on the Ashkenzai Jews, so I don't think that a Shas MK has the right to even bring the Holocaust into this matter. The double standards of the Haredim are sickening. Two days ago a Haraedi teacher was arrested for raping a 14 year old boy. He even stooped so low as to accuse his victim of being responsible. Where was the Haredi condemnation of this act? Too often we see and hear of Haredim committing all sorts of sex offences but no condemnation by the Ulta Othodox but thay have plenty to say about the Gay community. Some of the crimes they have committed or are alleged to have committed, while not definied as an "abomination" in Leviticus Chaper 20, command the same penalty as "mankind lying with mankind". I am no supporter of Meretz but MK Belin is right. However, Meretz should ask MK Zahava Galon why she connived with then National Religious Party MK. Igal Bibi) to have censorship of the adult channels on Yes TV? Again. double standands? Where is Meretz’ “democracy” and the right to chose? It is time for the people of Israel to chose: State of Israel or the Haredi Republic of Judastan.

l didn't know we believe in reincarnation! :-) Talk about double standards... And l bet the Holocaust survivors and victim's relatives just love to hear about Ovadia's "sinner soul" theory.

It's about time someone said it as clearly as you. Well said. Almost every comment which she writes is based in profound ignorance and hatred.
44. Remembering
charles ,   petach tikva   (08.26.07)
Sad people who need a tombstone or one day a year in order to remember their deads . It's not because you say kaddish , that your feelings regarding this person who died is more loving or sincere .
45. Debra , humanistic laws exist
charles ,   petach tikva   (08.26.07)
I don't need a god [ nor police ] for not to kill people or to set a businness i don't like , at fire . I don't need a god to behave correctly . Probably you , and your alikes , need to fear a god , otherwise how would you behave , i dare not to imagine how many crimes there would be in your community without this fear
