It seems rather odd to me that in a jewish state there should be censorship on jewish sermons from the torah, and a 'secular morality police' spying on private torah classes to enforce such censorship. You do see the contradiction. If 'unpleasant' portions of the torah are censored, then any claim to the holy land based on the torah becomes a farce.

If the Rabbi really believed that lack of doing Rabbinical Torah would cuase soldiers to die, then he would be sinning not to state it. Further more if he retracts his statement, knowing it may cause soldiers to sin and then die because of it, he would be sinning and placing a stumbling block before Jews.
