1. Moral Turpitude?
Adina Kutnicki ,   US   (09.06.07)
While Katsav may or may not have been a scoundrel, or a sexual deviant, I find it nauseating beyond belief that all those who are calling for his scalp are SILENT on the high crimes and misdemeanors of Olmert & his gang of lawmakers. While Peres & Olmert have RAPED the entire country ever since Oslo, the leading 'lights' in Israel are SILENT. It is alot more urgent to place Olmert & his crew on trial for DERELICTION, than to keep pursuing Katsav - who may or may not be guilty of 'rape'.
2. Is releasing of Arab murderers innocent?
Steve ,   USA   (09.06.07)
B"H Every time I hear of these accusations which were used to seat Shimon Peres in the Israeli Presidency to pardon murderers, I have to think: 1) Who is more guilty? Is Katsav guilty of the crimes that Peres is inapropriately pardoning? To release murderers means there is a good chance another murder is going to occur. 2) We need to compare levels of crimes. Inapropriate pardons of murderers versus allegations that did not conclude during Katsav's term in office. What was the whole use of all these allegations in the media? If this were to be handled responsibly, it would have been that Katsav concluded his term, and then charges were filed. No charges were filed during his term that stuck during his term. Even the plea bargain is not a finalized arrangement, and here we are several months after the presidency. 3) It seems to me that Katsav would benefit if the plea bargain were dropped. Since the plea bargain has not been upheld by the Supreme Court, there is the potetial that Katsav is not guilty as charged, that he goes to court and proves his innocence against the pressed allegations. But how does Kadima pay for that, if he is then found innocent, for charging a man with something that could not yet be upheld in court, several months after his Presidential term ended?
