1. Israel learning the hard way!
Harry ,   Kansas   (09.08.07)
How else to test the new russian radar equipment then to actually infiltrate syrian airspace. Well now the Israeli's know they work. And let us see if the syrians are really serious that they will not take crap from the IDF anymore! And again the Israeli's got their answer. Only 1 more thing the Israeli's need to learn and again they will learn this the hard way. Will Iran attack us like they said they would if we attack the syrians? Better reserve a spot in the morgue coz honestly, Israel are digging their own grave!!

aaron ,   ra'anana   (09.08.07)
the allawi regime is run by a cult making up 5% of the syrian population - better to wait for syrian democracy and to negotiate a peace treaty with them. normalization with the world and this dictatorship is not in anyones interest.
4. If the allegation was true ...
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (09.08.07)
The IAF would gave accomplished it's mission & the Russian missile system would be destroyed. We would most likely be at war already. Just more Arab BS - their paranoia knows no bounds. When the war eventually starts, which it surely will, our aim should be the total destruction of the Syrian state. No limited objectives, no pin-point strikes, no ceasefire.

Harry, what did you drink? Iran is far from the first A bomb, Israel is know to have plenaty of Atomic ,Neutron large and small bombs, cruise,jericho,F15,f-16,phanton delivery atom bombs. Syria has its chemicals, israel has too. Israel is used to be jeopardize by its enemies like in idependence war or nasser - who?,Saddam-who? or nassallah - who?.... Take some pills and go to bed
7. Looks like Bush is pushing Israel to get Syria into war
JoshC   (09.08.07)
Is there never enough power for the US? If they get Iran to attack Israel (via Syrian conflict), they are justified in attacking Iran. Israel is nothing more than a puppet for US. Bush ratings and failure in Iraq takes him out of the running for a seat in the developing World Government without SOME show of success. Poor little man. Israel needs to take care of its own people and divorce the US who will destroy it with the same shameless tactics it has always used.

Your solution sounds like Isaiah 17 to me. I agree except I think Israel should engage in pre-emptive action before Syria, Iran and even Russia put all the pieces of their war strategy together.

Are you stupid? What did Syrians show now?? IAF jets flew over their main naval base deep into the country, they got fired upon and they left... Not even a single Syrian jet were scrambled... This Russian system failed because it failed to down any of the jets.... As far as i know the "munitions" could have landed on the new SAM's.. Dont forget how Syria said that its shooting down Israeli jets in Lebanon in 1982.. While most of its SAM sites and jets were destroyed...
11. #10 Dima, are you STUPID?
Jared ,   Stillwater USA   (09.08.07)
Listen to what you are saying, "main naval base deep into the country" NAVAL BASE.....DEEP INTO THE COUNTRY...... IAF hardly crossed the shore line
12. #1 Dude, are you kidding? Stay off the drugs for a while.
Maurie ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (09.08.07)
This was coming from an arab newspaper. And we always know they tell the trruth right? Our IAF is much more professional than what they say in the arab paper. If our guys had rvcd. orders to destroy the russian made SAMS, trust me, there wouldn't be one SAM left to talk about. This ain't Kansas anymore Toto!!
13. nah, it was to test their effectiveness, they're garabage

good thing the arabs are afraid of a little anti missile countermeasures imagine what they will do when the daisy cutters fall from the sky
15. Mission accomplished
Steve G ,   Kew Gardens, NY, USA   (09.08.07)
By lighting up the Russian missile system and exposing potential vulnerabilities it accomplished two things: 1) The Syrians, Iranians and Russians now know they can't rely on the systems if a conflict does occur. 2) Israel just caused Iran to waste a couple of billion dollars without firing a shot. Looks good to me.
16. #1 peace of the grave
Marcel ,   Florida   (09.08.07)
It's too bad Israel's enemies have such short memories .They were sounddly defeated by Israel in five wars and left with their tail between their legs. It is only since the U.S. led peace process that the arabs have once again become emboldened and stirr up their people for their last war. Even with a weak puppet leader Olmert ,the nations of the wolrd will understand that there is Another ONE WHO FIGHTS FOR ISRAEL. This coming war will break the spirit of jihad against Israel and they will spend years burying their dead and have no time for jihad..
17. #8 Yep, Mike, you have a point!

army pics ,   Gedera Israel   (09.08.07)
Having lived in one of the richest countries in the world ( USA ) and now in Israel i know one thing . The Israeli army does waste money . They don't take bombing run and don't bomb .This is a show that we can take out the new russian made systems when ever they want . Look out next bombs that fall out of the skies will take you out !
20. # 1, Hairy !
(09.08.07)
The Syrian officials can talk till they get blue in their face. It won't help them dear Hairy. Do you know why ? Because Israel is fighting a war of SURVIVAL as opposed to Syria and Iran who are waging a war of terror and intimidation, of old Eastern- block propaganda and wipig-offs of sovereign countries. If, presumably, Israel sent in jets to fly over Syria, let's drop the subject - they know painstakingly well whatever they were looking for. But the riddle is: Did they really fly over Syria ? This way or that I don't brood over the subject because, if they did, they did very well, but if they didn't, they will do it sooner or later.
21. To #11
Dima   (09.08.07)
You probably misread my post... I meant that IAF flew over Latika and continiude deep into Syria... According to Syrian reports IAF flew to North Eastern Syria... http://www.haaretz.co.il/hasite/images/daily/D060907/468map2.gif Syrians themselves say that IAF dropped "ammunition" into the empty desert in the N.E Syria.
22. #19 Ah yeah, the US military DOES waste money!
usa   (09.08.07)
23. #21 And you believe the syrian reports? Trust me, if the
Israel   (09.08.07)
IAF had dropped "ammunition" in the empty desert on N.E. Syria, the government would have it splashed ALL OVER al-jezzera, and every other lying arab news agency.
24. We should strike Russian radar sites
Ian ,   UK   (09.08.07)
I Think the US, UK & Israel should put the war monger Putin on notice that if he allows or encourages Syria to bomb Israel then the response of the Western Powers will not be limited to Syria, and perhaps Russian Radar sites in Southern Russia should be attacked as a message of Western resolve to Putin.
25. Shana tova
Damir ,   Russia   (09.08.07)
I'll reserve my judgement until the matter clears. Who flew over what. What was dropped and what eventually fell to ground.
26. Successful raid?
CWW ,   Damascus (from USA)   (09.09.07)
Could it be that the Syrians may be trying to save face, and hide the target, while those in the Israeli government do not want to discuss the successful raid. I mean a reconnaissance raid at night doesn't make a whole lot of sense since Israel has access to satellites. And why would Israel risk a large conflict during such a time unless there was an important target.
