olmert and his co-horts claim that they will be giving up most town in west bank, eliminate settlements and work out a disadvantagious peace plan to israel. can these actions be passed by the government with the high court approval, or can it be stoped by a referendum. i just can;t see how israelis will agree to this insane "gift" olmert is keen on. it will be akeen to suicide, worse than the situation we see israel in presently. how and what legal rights does the public have in eliminating olmert's suicidal plan? can you coment on possible scenarios to this decision?

Finally, someone in the government of Israel who is talking good sense.

To # 2 - In a normal country there would be a referendum on ANY policy that would involve giving away ! pieces of ones country. However, Israel is not governed like a western democracy, much as they like to insist they are. The laundry list of their being non democratic-except when they choose to empower the far left and the Arabs-is too long to state here. Suffice it to say that the national public has finally woken up to the leaders treachery. The leaders will NEVER survive another destruction like during the 'disengagement'/expulsion in 2005. The people will destroy them, as they will then have nothing left to lose.

I cannot understand Israel's timidity in refraining from a proper response to the continuous shelling into Israel by Hizballah. For every Hizballah attack on Israel, Israel should carpet bomb Hizballah's government buildings, communication lines, roads, school buildings (after school hours), electric lines and anything else that would make life difficult and cause the Pals to cry uncle. The Olmert administration is a bunch of wimps.
