You are wrong that the Europeans gave the Jews the land out of guilt for the holocaust. The whole world supported revival of the historical Jewish homeland after World War I and gave the British a mandate to help set one up. The British immediately set up an Arab country (Jordan) on most of that land and gave the Golan to the French mandate. In what little land remained, the British encourage Arab immigration and made Jewish immigration difficult. Not one Jew had to be murdered by the Nazis if the British allowed them to go home. The British preferred to prevent Jewish immigration so that the Germans would get rid of them. During the war of Independence in 1948, the British fought alongside the Arabs in the Arab Legion.
