Serious collectors are weirdos in any sense. It doesn't matter what they collect, it's a mental disease. The collector mentality is odd indeed. Why is it a "private" museum? Just an excuse to justify a sickness.

I never really got the Nazi's hating the Jews stuff. I sell Nazi Militaria, and am careful who I sell it to, my average collector is about 50, married and with kids and is not interested in the Nazi philosophy. I always find it amusing when people find collecting Nazi items "perverted" as I am sure there are a few things in their houses that came from an unsavoury past. it is OK to collect Nazi things if they are not used for current hate purposes, and I think they should be kept so that people can understand why it happened. The swastika, marches, flags, uniforms etc are very powerful symbols and it is easy to see why people got caught up in all this order back in the 1920's/30's. Today the symbols still have the same design, take away the hate and you are left with interesting items to collect. I have several German medals and other stuff that my grandfather brought home from the war. I still have it and I collect it and i'm a proud Jew! Owning it does not mean that you support those who made the symbols on it infamous. I'll probably end up selling them when I make aliyah.

Nothing wrong with collecting WW2 memorabilia. As long as the collector doesnt subscribe to the beliefs. I have Jewish friends who collect the stuff. I am sure there are idiots who collect third reich militaria that do dubscribe to the nazi belief system. Those people are morons and give legitimiate WW2 collectors a bad name. Most who collect this stuff, also collects WW2 Japanese, American, and other allied/axis militaria.
