Debbie ,   Seattle   (09.14.07)
She and the other celebrities have a large following. If they can see Israel and parts of Judaism in a positive light, all the better. There's enough hatred of Israel in the world already.
7. rosie o'donnell ?? ....Uh Oh

10. Queen Esther: This modest Jewish maiden...
Norway   (09.14.07)
becomes the Queen of Persia. Together with the hidden hand of God, Esther leads her people from certain death to victory over their enemies... Thanks to her influence and competence, the chosen people - the Jews, became the moral leaders of their time. Queen Esther had two names: Esther, her Persian name, and Hadassah, her Hebrew name. Though the name Esther is Persian, it is phonetically similar to the Hebrew word for “hidden,” hester. Its significance in the story of Purim is that, in it, the hand of God was “hidden.” Unlike other times when the Jews were delivered from their enemies, there were no overt miracles. God’s involvement was manifested in hidden and earthly ways. Hadassah is the feminized version of the word for “myrtle,” hadas. The myrtle leaf is shaped like an eye... representing God’s watchful eye over Queen Esther and over His chosen people... http://www.mechon-mamre.org/e/et/et3301.htm
11. Shalom to those in Israel now
guy ,   los angeles   (09.14.07)
Madonnna and her entourage are respectful of Israel and supportive of its people---this is a tremendous boost in terms of public relations for the country---perhaps they might even consider buying a place so they can visit more often!
12. Yeah, rosie will organize another gay parade & then settle

13. No. 6 & No. 11
NYC Girl   (09.14.07)
I couldn't agree with you more. While it's easy for to dismiss these high-profile celebrities as dilettantes, there's an untold amount of positive public relations that can be gained by their visits to Israel. After all, these people have fans who follow their every move (even though some of us may find that foolish), but if they're willing to use their "star power" to help present Israel in a positive light...then good for them.
14. Don't forget...

17. Why not let Madonna study Kabbalah?
Allen ,   US   (09.14.07)
How many married men over forty want to pursue this far-reaching, mystical Jewish tradition? Kabbalah is sorely in need of students and practitioners. So let Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore, and Madonna experience some connection with the Jewish people, even if it is in the way of Jewish lore, mysticism, wives' tales, legends, etc. Perhaps they will one day come to entertain earnest study of Torah (the law of Moses) and Tanakh (the Hebrew Bible).
18. Madonna
Madonna ,   Ramat Gan   (09.14.07)
Who cares if she's in Israel for Rosh Hashanah. I, for one, couldn't care less. They are all only in a cult. They don't really know what Kabbalah means. To them, it is a red string tied on their hand.
19. As if I could care less
Juan ,   Spain   (09.14.07)
20. Just freaks!
Ariel ,   Amsterdam   (09.14.07)
Just freaks! Hashanah tovah!
21. Why Does This Beetle Juice not care about Palestinians?
Hani ,   Palestine Vagabond   (09.14.07)
Oh right, no prospect for a "HOLIDAY!!" in the occupied territories, she turns a blind eye, too preoccupied with her Malawian adopted kid. Perhaps if she set foot once in her life in a Palestinian town (Bethlehem or Hebron) she would totally change her perception of the israel and its apartheid policies! Celebrities, we love and hate them.
22. # 18 - How long have you been a Kabbalist?
Robert Marshall ,   Australia   (09.15.07)
Madonna has been studying Kabbalah for about 5 years now. She must be getting more than a red string out of it. I admire her commitment. I started looking at, through and around Kabbalah 20 years ago but cannot get into it. For me, Kabbalah has been a closed door. So, Madonna of Ramat Gan, can you share any Kabbalist insights? This is not a criticism of your talkback. I just want to know more.
23. #21 Now why would anyone want to go there? Oh yeah, to get
shot!! The whole ,   world turned away!!!   (09.15.07)
24. #21
(09.15.07)
hani, she doesn't set foot in your territories because she knows you are fluff and liars. most americans see right through your victimhood and not accepting responsibility for your actions, your laziness, your helplessness brought on by yourselves and your total lack of civilized and reasonable behavior. americans and europeans are sick of the palestinians and so are egyptians, lebanese, syrians, saudu arabians, morrocans, jordanians, etc.... we all know what happened to you; your revisionist historical claims, your pathetic ressistance that is just an excuse to kill the yahood because you hate and do not tolerate them around you, your pathetic excuse of leaders, chosen or elected to represent you. everything about your palestinian society reeks of clan feuds, thugs with masks and thugs with guns. yours is a society of dysfunctional people, not level headed, religiously fanatic, hateful, resentful, jealous of the israeli sucesses compared to your acheivements which are nothing for generations. you scream occupation but do nothing except propaganda hate and killings amongst your own clans and citizens. it's amazing that with all your terror and wars against the jews in israel. with all your suicide bombings and killings of iasraelis, we still managed to outpace you by thousands of years in progress. look at your brothers in other arab countries and at their economic, financial, societal and governmental situation. everything is chaos, no functioning economy, no intellect, no working systems, poverty, no culture, no jobs, no inventions in science, hi technology and the rest. are they occupied too???????? if you say that you can't progress because of the occupation, then how come most arab countries have not progressed beyond the 12th century as well. don't tell me israel occupies all arab nations and limits their opportunities for progress. even those that have oil extracted from earth like saudi arabia, etc.... would not have been way past you had they not had this oil. your religion and fanaticism of hate kills your spirit and your self determination to progress. your religion and hate consumes you 100% of the day so much so that you do not see past your nose at the many opportunities the palestinians had to have their own state but chose annihilation of israel instead. get it through your thick head. we are not going anywhere and it is about time you start thinking of the future....like how do the palestinians, once they get their own country, going to manage. this is a very big issue! you do not know how to run a state if your life depended on it and maybe this is why you constantly refuse to have one. it's hard to run a state and you people have no clue, not a shred of knowledge what law is, what a civilized society stands for, what cohesiveness is and wnat order is. grow up. enough compalining. start taking responsibility for yourself once and for all. the world is too tired and sick of listening to you moan and bitch all the time. get up and do something.....not bombing and killing, i mean.
25. #21 - If she set foot in a Palestinian town?
Mark ,   USA   (09.15.07)
If she did, she would be kidnapped, at best, and kept inprisoned to be exchanged for money or whatever you imagine you can ask for. Or at worse, she would be lynched, like any Jew who dares to set foot in a Palestinian town. That's why neither Mandonna, who likes Israel, and not even your Leftist friends dare to set foot in your Palestinian towns. Last time your Peace Now friends went to Hebron to demonstrate in your favor, thir bus was stoned by your own Palestinian brothers! An embarrassing moment for the pro-Arab Jewish Left, indeed.
26. #21 -to a palestinian
mr ,   israel   (09.15.07)
The celebrities probably have some fear of traveling and visiting your cities in these times. I remember visiiting Bethlehem many years ago without any worry. All that has changed, thanks to your Mr. Arafat.
27. Madonna's, et al, visit to Israel
miriam ,   israel   (09.15.07)
Welcome to this wondrous land and do return !!
28. can someone please elect #24 prime minister...
wow ,   jm   (09.15.07)
if only our politicians were so lucid... thank you #24 for articulating what the world feels... you should have a shana tovah, and all of am yisrael should be blessed with a year of true PEACE!
29. IT'S NICE TO SEE DEMI AND..................
AVROHOM BILGREI ,   ZION   (09.15.07)
HER ARM CANDY BOTH WITH AMPLY EXPOSED CHESTS ! CANDY BOY W/HAIR AND DEMSTER W/CLEVIDGE IN THE SPIRITUAL "SWING" OF THINGS ! IT JUST INSPIRES SUCH AN IMPITUS FOR TSHUVA !
30. Does Madonna apply her learning
Dave ,   Australia   (09.16.07)
or is it only intellectual. She has studied Kaballah for 5 year and now keeps the Jewish Sabbath. Unfortunately she then goes back on work days and wears unfit clothing and uses provocative actions. So, are her beliefs arranged around 1 day of the week only? Saying that celebrities have a huge following that they can persuade to like Israel also says that if for some reason they fall out with Israel the fans will do the same. Madonna is a human being like the rest of us, why does her point of view demand more respect than mine. If she has truly learned anything from her studies, let her start to live fully within the knowledge she has accumulated. Until she gives up the kind of stage acts she still has, then I for one cannot see her as having learned anything but the intellectual side of something that is meant to encompass your actions in life. I wish her well and pray that she comes to the point in life where she will actually live what she has intellectualized.
