Actually, the start of this mess was the stupidity of Jimmy Carter in not supporting the Shah & then, of not taking decisive military action during the hostage crisis. As is usual with weak appeasement policies, the result is a bigger problem & a bigger war. Military action is now the only option & it was always the only option. The inner dynamics of totalitarian regimes that fail miserably at delivering economic, social, & political progress to their population lead them inevitably to aggression. This, coupled with an insane & irrational ideology, can only be stopped by force. Appeasement will now cause the death of many innocent Iranians but this is better than waiting until the mad mullahs cause even more death & destruction elsewhere. And the result would still be war. Being world and American opinion is very low about the war in Iraq, the G-o-g-Bush administration needs another false flag or 9/11 in order to justify the upcoming attack. There is currently one marine strike group off of the coast of Lebanon (to help secure elections later this month, ofcourse!), the Enterprise battle group is in the gulf already with both the Nimitz andTruman strike groups scheduled to arrive around the beginning of Sukkot. All is lacking is a reason that the world and Americans can rally around Bush and the real head (Cheney). G-d forbid they pull another 9/11 to justify this one too, but odd's are it will happen. Bush and more so Cheney are convinced that the attack is needed. I am not saying it is not by anymeans. Hang on for the ride, it's going to be rough.

You cannot be serious. US planning to bomb Iran while it is stuck in a swamp? You must be joking mate. Even if BUsh was not letting his soldiers be culled in Iraq every day, he would not be able to invade a nation like Iran. Some European experts believe that US may be have better weapons than Iran, but it would still get its 'ass kicked' by Iranian forces, just like Israel got its kicked last year dispite having superior weapons. No doubt, that in any new war, Israel too would also be targeted by Iranians who want nothing better to have an excuse to wipe the Israeli state off the map. Iranian President has vowed to end Israel in any attack on Iran. Because he claims that it is Israel that would have pushed US to strike Iran.

I think John you are somewhat mistaken in your premise. BY all military standards, Israel actually won Lebanon II miltarially. THe did it in clumsy fashion but they killed five times as many fighters as they lost, occupied territory which they only gave up to a UN force and basically caused irreperable damage to the Lebanese economy (which has not been repaired) while the Israeli damage form the rocket attacks has been fixed and the economy has continued to grow at a 5% rate/year. Furthermore, you seem to have forgotten that Israel has just demonstrated that the new weapons systems sold to Syria and Iran are totally ineffective and that with Israel's nuclear arsenal the Islamonazi regimes would be committing suicide by going to war. Israel would be badly hurt but Syria, Iran and Lebnon would be obliterated

Jan, the reason why the US is allowing this information out is 3 fold- 1.) To prepare the American public for what will come 2.)The psych-out game to coax Iran's people to pressure their leaders 3.) To provide the final warning-so the world cannot turn around and accuse the US of taking such an extreme action that will cause annihilation without notice of intent. Iran will be destroyed. John, the US will not get "its ass kicked by Iranian forces". They will will strike by air. Iran is totally vulnerable to air strikes. Iranian technology has been breached, their air force and Navy antiquated, and inferior in every regard. The US is now considering the possibility of 2,000 targets, opposed to 1,200. There are well over 100 nuclear armed, technologically superior destroyers, subs, and carriers that have the means to take down whatever can be launched at them- be it amphibious, land, or air, and for extended periods of time. The USS John C. Stennis, and its full compliment, alone, can literally destroy an entire country. And this is just the US Navy's deployment. Even if Iran got lucky enough to hit a nuclear armed and nuclear powered carrier, the amount of radiation alone that would carry onto land from the sea and the air, would be enough to quickly sicken, and kill off their population. Iran does not have the emergency medical infrastructure in place to even begin to deal with that. That is a fact. While it is true that Israel may be targeted, Israel's technology can take down what Iran will fire at them- if Iran even exists at that point, and that is highly doubtful. Iran just does not have the technology. All Iran has is a president who sealed their doom with his insanity and his big mouth. As for Hezbollah, Hamas and the others, once Iran and Syria are destroyed- and they will be, they will not be able to re-stock their weaponry and supplies. The supply routes in and out will be destroyed, as will the suppliers. Then, they too, will be destroyed.

I hope Americans keep a small twenty or thirty dollar tent from Walmart in the trunks of their cars along with water and non-perishable food and a few clothes since many people will lose their homes and have to live in tents for a time. For those who can afford an old VW bus, that would be better to live in for emergencies. 180,000 American families lost their homes in July of 2007 alone to defaults on the mortgage and the economy has not even collapsed, yet. Pets are being abandoned en masse because most landlords will not allow pets for rental units. America needs to repent of the offenses that will cause the loss of God's blessings after the war with Iran. Who knows? Maybe God will be merciful and war with Iran can be prevented.
