Ynet reports that this new government organisation should function by the end of 2008 or early 2009. Why should it take so long to organise the various current organisations under one umbrella organisation ? If war should break out within this year 2007, again there will be utter confusion as in the last or Second Lebanon War. Surely all the heads and deputies are already known, and I cannot see any big difficulty in getting them under one roof or umbrella organisation within 90 days maximum. If they cannot do this, then they are useless now and in the future.

Why did they wait this long to first establish this most lifesaving of agencies? Only crazy fools would think this can wait until the end of 2008.

Those are the basic ingredients of a socialist state, feeding the corrupt and greedy. There is no win-win in Israel, cooperation means that someone must become a freier (sucker). So don't hold your breath for this to happen.

Finally someone in this government is doing something right for a change,planning ahead incase of War! Coordination between various government services during times of war is very important and it is even more important to have one body incharge coordinating the whole thing. Now if the Government would only ready the rest of the homefront by handing out gas masks in the North(the area to be hit first in any war), preparing the shelters and making sure kupat holims can have all needed medications within 24 hours should a war start , and plans need to be in place for the local authorities incase they need to evacuate the elderly, sick, children etc incase of war. But this is a good start just keep going from there!

If you want to get a load of what the reality looks like, do New Orleans and Katrina ring any bells? But if you ever need trailers for temporary housing, the State of Arkansas may still have a few thousand of those sitting around in a swamp somewhere. I'd rather depend on the Boy Scouts in an emergency. At least, they'd help me across the street. Fema would have to bring in the Army to find me and the street, by which time that street and I would be under 10 feet of water and rubble.
