1. And there goes the Golan...
Tracy W   (09.17.07)
A column by Prof. Arieh Eldad, a 25 year veteran of the IDF medical corps, regarding the deal made by three bankrupt governments (US, Israel and PA) regarding the WB, applies to this Golan giveaway too. "A deal like this is all deceit and illusion", he says. "A fraud." "They are negotiating a permanent solution, as if the country is theirs and the power in their hands." And he concludes his column with the most courageous statement in print so far: "There's only one escape from this trap: immediately toppling the Olmert government and holding new elections. Only someone who leads such a move can then claim the mantle of leadership in Israel." http://www.israelnationalnews.com/Articles/Article.aspx/7418

10. re 1, your not giving up Golan since
Sayid ,   Sweden   (09.17.07)
its not yours to give up, its Syran land and it will always be.
11. In other words...
David L.   (09.17.07)
The bombing DID NOT take place. You don't bomb a country without taking responsibility, and then offer peace talks. I think that, especially in the actual context, Israel would have announced the strike. If it did take place, it was such a bold move and risk to start a war that Israel had to be prepared to confirm it did it. This would have also entailed mobilizing the army, since a Syrian response to an actual bombing would have most likely be military.
12. Hmmmm...
Helene ,   Israel   (09.17.07)
WHAT THE --- IS ONE TO SAY?????!
13. olmert thinks his a hot shot now LOL
ayl   (09.17.07)
14. Olmert ready for talks with Syria
Sam ,   Canada   (09.17.07)
If Olmert is ready for talks with Syria then he should invite Assad to Israel. Assad's willingness to come will show his seriousness to make peace.
15. #10 Golan was Palestine till 1922
Semsem ,   New York, USA   (09.17.07)
#10 the Golan was part of Palestine till 1922 when the British gave it to the French. So it's a very gray area. It should be split into 2.
16. OLMERT, You are the CLOWN of the Jews
Malcolm   (09.17.07)
17. Olmert respects the murder of Lebanese politicians?
Laila ,   Montreal, Canada   (09.17.07)
Olmert is a schmuck. He says he "respects" Assad / Syria? What? The murder of Lebanese politicians and journalists?
18. Olmert is playing head games with Assad
Chaim ,   Canada   (09.17.07)
I am no fan of Olmert - but he is a smart chess player. He is making moves that totally confuse Assad and makes Israel look good to the world. Regarding the Lebanon war last year; you may say he fumbled it. But think how many lives could have been lost if Israel went all out without being properly prepared. Olmert’s hesitation in fact saved many lives.
19. Why look ye one upon another?
Ariel ,   London   (09.17.07)
Avigdor Lieberman says there is no political solution to the Qassam threat. He says it is clear to both him and the Prime minister. Well why won't they act?
20. #5: Not so

Belal ,   Atlanta USA   (09.17.07)

25. # 10 Sayid from Sweden
Josef Matamoros ,   Finland   (09.17.07)
Hej Sayid du har fel, you just are wrong. Simply because Golan always was, is and always will be Israeli. Recognize the facts, since it means wisdom.
26. what is this man taking
zionist forver   (09.17.07)
Last week he was flying into Syria and dropping fuel tanks .. the IAF doesnt have permision to go fly into Syria anytime it likes without authroisation from the government so Olmert must have known in advance all about those flights. Now he say he respects Assad and is ready to talk to him of course we also all know in advance that any talks with Assad will involve giving up a minimum of the entire Golan probably more knowing Olmert he will probably offer even more Israelli territory as well as compensation for 40 years without it. All this at a time when Syria is being armed by Iran, publicly suppots terror and has made a deal with Iran that if Israel attacks Syria then Iran wil fire 600 rockets at Israel. Somebody save us from this madman.
27. # 15, Sayid from Sweden
Josef Matamoros ,   Finland   (09.17.07)
Never heard about Gamla? Well, it's located in Golan and is a famous Jewish site. 2000 years ago Israelis lived there. Israelis live there now and will live. Welcome to Golan, Israel - as a tourist!
28. Again , Peace is the answer
Fadi ,   Syria   (09.18.07)
As I have always said , Peace is the answer , don't go so high with your expectations for war , you may not suceed every time .I mean what I say All the best to the peaceful Israelis only ( if there was any)
29. Assad and Olmert are the same man in doifferent bodies
zionist forver   (09.18.07)
I have alot of respect for the Syrian leader and the Syrian policy says Olmert. Of course he is they have so much in common Assad is corupt - Olmert is corupt Assad like being a disctaitor that doesnt care about what the people think about him or his policy he just does what he wants Olmert is the closest Israel has ever had to a dictaitorship only 2% of the population want him as PM .. even Assad when he got rellected it was 5% who didnt want him back. Olmert doesnt care about Israelis just himself and his career. Assad support terror - Olmert supports terror he lets out hundreds of terrorists, his new best friends both support terror, he does nothing for the Israelis affected by terrorism like the residents of Sderot he just turns a blind eye to their suffering like they dont exist doesnt even provide money to strenghen schools against rocket fire says they dont need it. Assad is in office by accident because his older brother who Hafez Assad raised for the presidency died. Olmert is only in office because Ariel Sharon had a stroke Assad isnt a jew - Olmert doesnt act like a jew or seem to care about jews. Assad wants the Golan and Olmert is just itching to give them forget about what Israelis want if he is offered a nobel prize for for Golan he will turn over to Assad every inch of the place tommorow.
30. This would be funny if it wasn't so sad....
jeffly ,   manchester, uk   (09.18.07)
We want peace? Lest we all ready forget about the attack last week? These statements only demonstrate that peace is not what is wanted. How can you possibly attack another country with fighter jets and only a week later turn around and claim you seek peace while at the same time expect engagement from the other side. So long as Israel is led by individuals such as these, it will not have peace. It is simple as that. This has nothing to do with Golan or no Golan, the issue is much larger than that.
