1. Creating Another Failed State.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (09.19.07)
As if the world does not have enough Muslim failed states or states on their way to failing, Ms Rice wants to create another one. We have irreconcilable differences - there is no solution. In this particular case, only one side can win. Being Jewish, I want our side to win. Forget "just solutions" or any idea of fairness. Either we win or they win.
2. #1, You will win
Vicki ,   USA   (09.19.07)
G-d promises that you will win.
3. What About An Independant Kurdistan?
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (09.19.07)
If Ms Rice is looking for a "just cause", backing the creation of an independant Kurdistan is far more worthy of support than an independant Palestine. The Kurds actually like the Americans, unlike the Palestinians. There are about 25 million Kurds without an independant sovereign state. What about their rights? Aside from the semi-autonomous Iraqi region, there are millions of Kurds in Turkey, hundreds of thousands in Syria, I think a few million in Iran. The Iraqi Kurds have already demonstrated that they can run their region pretty well - something you certainly can't say about the Palestinians. Isn't it unusual that we hear no great protest in the Arab & Muslim world for this great injustice? Yet we are treated to an unending chorus of cries of justice for Palestinians. When Saddam was gassing Kurds, was there any protest? He killed about 200,000 Kurds plus ethnic cleansing. The Turks, while not murdering quite so many, also ethnically cleansed a large number of areas as well as even denying that Kurds exist. Syria oppresses the Kurds as well. So do the Persians. So, Ms Rice, here's a nice cause for your well-developed sense of justice.
4. #1 there is no looser in just solutions
(09.19.07)
5. #3 Kurdistan
(09.19.07)
Independant Kurdistan is strongly objected by Turkey .And Turkey is far more important to the USA than israel which is nothing but a big burden!
6. This meddling of US in Israel's affairs is surreal!
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (09.19.07)
I t is incredible as they lie and insist in pretend facts are not as they really are. They want to push in the region what is impossible! It is the theatre of the hell!
7. Masturbation Waltz
Malcolm   (09.19.07)
Big waste of time.
8. Only Pals are entitlrd to special treatment.Nothing for Darf
or Kurds or Zimbos ,   Alan SA   (09.19.07)
9. #4 is 100% right
abdullah ,   ashkenaz   (09.19.07)
There are no 'losers' in a just solution, so long as it can be enforced. This is the lesson from torah, prophets, sages and even one of the amida blessings. It is logical, its obviously a nash-equilibrium and there is (naturally) strong halachic support. Heck, even vladimir yabotingski supported a 'just' solution for jewish-'arab' coexistence. He just wasn't aware of the details of such a soln.
10. THE US HAD A MASSIVE CIVIL WAR RATHER THAN ACCEPT 2 STATES
stude ham   (09.19.07)
So why the sheol are they flogging that dead horse? Did the US make a mistake in not allowing the south to secede? they don't think so...
11. Protest Today at Paris Square 7PM!!
Yosef ,   Jerusalem, Israek   (09.19.07)
Women in Green is planning a rally Wednesday night in Jerusalem against the plans of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to divide Jerusalem and establish a Palestinian state in Judea and Samaria. The protest has been called by the grassroots nationalist camp organization for 7 PM at Paris Square at the southern end of King George St., a block away from the Prime Minister's residence in the capital. It will be timed to coincide with a dinner meeting between Olmert and visiting U.S. Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice.
12. 4 - what palestinains demand ensures no justice
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (09.19.07)
that's why, unless palestinians give and concede some of their unreasonable demands, there will never be peace.
13. The Jews Are The Real Palestinians
Kerry James ,   Boston, USA   (09.19.07)
arabians are just arabians from arabia
14. Israelis want concrete results too !
redmiike ,   tel aviv and london   (09.19.07)
When will Abu Mazen move to stop terror attacks? When will he start making arrests? I'm not talking about arresting Hamas members. He's just a smooth talker, and like Arafat keeps saying 'I'm so weak, I'm so weak'. After Israel cleared the way today to cut of electricity to Gaza, Haniyeh says he's 'pleading with groups to stop the kassams'. It's all nonsense. Mazen doesn't want to stop the attacks and Haniyeh doesn't want to stop the attacks. And Israelis and the rest of the thinking world no they don't want to stop the attacks. So let's stop the bs please!
15. Shomer peta'im Hashem. G-d guards the fools
Joseph P. ,   Jerusalem   (09.19.07)
including the fools running the Israeli government. G-d will protect the Jews from fools like Olmert and Ramon whose only goal is to destroy His country and hurt His children.
16. Rice Go Home . . . Mediation Is Not Your Position
emanon ,   USA   (09.19.07)
Israel is not part of the USA and the US has no business playing Rice as being in a position of authority to try and direct the affairs of Israel. Further, Rice does not have the brain power to do anything on her own or even convey directions from Bush. Now go home and assume you proper position . . . under Bush.
17. What are the "Palestinians" offering? Nothing as usual
Rob ,   UK   (09.19.07)
Every single article regarding this dead-in-the-water "peace" conference only ever lists Olmert's concessions: Destroying Jerusalem by cutting it in two, and validating the "Palestinians" false claims to Israel's 3,000 year old capital city. The ethnic cleansing of hundreds of thousands of Jews from Judea/Samaria. Symbolic "right of return" and/or compensation for a wars that the Arab Muslims started themselves. And yet, what exactly are the "Palestinians" offering? Precisely nothing, as usual.
18. Stall Tactic
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (09.19.07)
I think that all this back and forth is nothing but a stall tactic. You can't tell me that the US doesn't know that there won't be peace as long as Iran stokes the fires. Do something with that situation and everything else will solve itself. Without Iran, all the a--hats, Hamas, Hizbollah, Fatah and Syria included, will be lame ducks.
19. Results
Serge ,   Antwerp, Belgium   (09.19.07)
If Mahmoud Abbas wants results he knows what to do to get them. Control the terrorists, eliminate antisemitsm in the press, drop the claim that refugees be allowed to return to Israel. If he can't do that he must not expect significant steps in the november summit. It is up to him.
20. What crap !!!!
Poitcha ,   Israel   (09.19.07)
What "political results?' If he doesn't want to hold the summit, so be it. Better for us as Olmert and his gang won't have their arms twisted to give up more land and release more busloads of terrorists, etc. All we want is Gilad Shalit and information on Goldwasser and Regev. And there will never be a two state solution. Hamas, Fatah and whatever else they want to call themselves, have no idea of what a state is. The words PEACE, JEWS and ISRAEL do not exist in their lexicon so how do you anticipate a two state solution. Rice.....wake up and stop wasting your taxpayers money every time you head out to the Middle East as YOU too have no comprehension whatsoever of how the religions, cultures and societies operate in this part of the world.
21. Hamas should be used constructively.
Uzi ,   Haifa   (09.19.07)
Israel should let Hamas to depose Abbas and smash Fatah, also in Judea and Samaria, on their way to abolish the PA and wipe it off the world map and consciousness. It will also open the way for the Kingdom of Jordan to take charge as the only viable nation state of all the Arabs of Greater Palestine. Having got rid of the PA, Israel and Jordan should agree on the border between them in Judea and Samaria and maybe cede Gaza to Egypt that would sort it out quite smartly. Everybody, Jews and Arabs, should continue to live in peace where they are and nobody should move from their homes or land. Israelis who would thus become residents of the Kingdom of Jordan should be given rights and conditions like the Arabs in Israel.
22. Concrete things
J K ,   NYC, USA   (09.19.07)
While Abbas demands concerete timetables and so forth from Israel (which Israel is capable of delivering), what can Abbas bring back to Israel that is concrete in terms of what the 'Palestinians' can deliver? There are too many rogue groups doing whatever the hell they want. I dont see how this can work at all.
23. In other words, Abbas is dictating terms to
Canadian Otter   (09.19.07)
Israel, a sovereign country. Abbas is afraid of Israeli Jews' reaction when the principles - that are well known already - are officially revealed, so he wants official facts and agreements done in secret ahead of the conference. And no doubt Olmert and Bush too are afraid of Israeli Jews' reactions and would like nothing better than to get this betrayal over and done as soon as possible. By the way, Olmert sounds like the leader of a defeated country: giving everything away in exchange for nothing (aggression against IDF and civilian Jews continue daily) and no preconditions for talks with Syria, when Syria wants only one thing, Jewish Golan. In any "normal" country, there would have been a population uprising already against the treasonous Israeli government and the illegitimate American authority.
24. Abbas wants real results
Sam ,   Canada   (09.19.07)
Even if Abbas and Olmert were ready for a deal, Palestinians and Israelis might object. Here in Canada, the people, in referendums, have voted down agreements made by politicians. It would be helpful to have some polls as the process moves along.
25. #21 uzless
Marcel ,   Florida   (09.19.07)
Your propaganda to help Israel's enemies is easily seen. Hamas should be used to scrap the refuse of Gaza clean .They make a good rag to scrap Gaza clean of all Israel's enemies. After this much needed cleaning dispose of the soiled ,filthy rag. No more Hamas, no more Fatah,no more U.S. meddleing and trammpling of Israel's sovereignty means peace for Israel.
26. No matter what, there can never be any separate Arab
Uzi ,   Haifa   (09.19.07)
political entity west of the Jordan. The Arabs of Western Eretz Yisrael have consistently demonstrated that they are incapable of surviving unaided or ruling themselves, especially at the national polity level. They constantly kill and steal from each other and lie to themselves, each other and the rest of the world. They never miss any opportunity to make atrocious choices and mistakes and they are incapable of sustaining and providing for themselves; they depend on others for everything. How on earth will they ever make it?
