Isreal is not scared of a "military" confrontation with Iran, Isreal is worried Iran will fire chemical or nuclear warheads at civilian populations or infrastructure. Iran has old jets which do not have the nececary range to reach Israel while Israels new F16I and F15I were designed with the capablity to carry extra fuel than the standard F15 or F16 to give them long range but Iran doesnt have any of these so their bombers wont be going very far. If Iran tries to use Syria as a base for its bombers then there wont be much left of Damascuss or Assad when its all over because Syria would be considered fair game for allowing Iran to use its territory Israel has both arrow and patriot missle defense which can deal with most Iranian missles. Israel also needs to remind the Iranians that it has hundreds of Jerico 2 and Jerico 3 missles that have the capability to hit anywhere in Iran and to carry a neuclear warhead if nececary. Also I would love to see the Iranians live up to this boast of confronting American cruise missles it would be great to watch all the American missles defeat all this wonderfull Iranian technology. I dont know if the preforming monkey has heard about it but the US has been drawing up a millitary plans if it comes to it. Over about a week the US would bomb not only the Iranian neuclear facilities but the entire Iranian millitary .. no planes left on the ground, the captains of their ships would be mistaking them for submarines as they end up at the bottom of the Gulf, radar and other tactical targets destroyed. Whats going to be left of the Iranian millitary to back up these threats after they try and take on 3 US carrier groups on their front doorstep with hundreds US F/A 18s, B2 stealth bombers, various other US warplanes and tomohawk cruise missles. No US troops on the ground needed to attack this would be air power alone and as nobody is talking about rebuilding Iran afterwards it can be achived .. knock them down and keep them down. In 1991 Saddam Hussain thought he could win the mother of all wars and at the time he had the strongest army in the Gulf and when the mother of all wars was over there was no such thing as an Iraqi millitary the only value Saddams millitary had was scrap metal value. Then later when the Americans dug him out his hole he ended up at the end of the rope Iran has some reasonable quality reverese engineered Nortth Korean missles, its most modern jets are reverse engineered F5 tigers along with some MIGS and a couple of F14s which they have no spare parts for. Why do you think Iran would launch a chemical or nuclear warhead at Israel. First of all, they don't even have nuclear warheads (I'm not sure about chemical). Secondly, Iran is not stupid! Their government does want to remain independent and in control. They know that if they would launch an aggressive attack on Israel that the world would turn against them and they would be destroyed. So I highly doubt this would ever happen. Has this Iranian government (since 1979) ever declared aggressive war or acted in an irrational manner? I know the current President sounds irrational and has made some stupid statements, but none worse than or stupider than my President Bush. The only difference is that Bush has acted on his stupidity and irrationality. I really don't think that Israel and especially the United States have anything to fear from Iran!
