When he said there were "no gay people" in Iran, he meant there were NO HAPPY PEOPLE in Iran.

Grow Up Bollinger and if we Americans think he was right, then grow up America. Once again we have managed to stop someone from reaching out and showing us the reality of the world. Yes, Ahmadinejad was completely wrong when he talked about homosexual but guess what? There are many things in our country that have become norms to "us" but are considered absurd and outrageous by the rest of the world. I have been reading the newspapers about this guy's speech all morning and after reading about 20 articles about the same subject, I thought, hmm "this Iranian president really did make a fool out of himself" then I came home and watched the video myself and no he didn't make a fool out of himself. In fact, he did great for having an audience who had a predefined mindset. We see our politicians give great speeches in front of many people and usually these are the people that are on the politicians side, but when was the last time you saw our politicians go in front of people that hate them and answer their questions? None, this guy not only have guts but he proved it too, and after all why should he be afraid? He is not hiding anything especially the truth. Media and our politicians makes us think there is a bomb in Iraq and Iraq is evil, Alright, we Americans agree to go to the war and dig ourselves a hole, now the media and politicians say, Iran is evil and has bomb, cool, lets go kill them too. Let's just say that Iran hates America, what do you think we did by inviting him over as our guest and insulting their whole nations? Its like kids fighting, they never want to talk about it, they just have a mindset and they are stuck to that, Iranian President seemed like he was the adult in the video and Bollinger was that kid who acted pretty idiotic if you asked me, an American with the ability to think rationally. He never said Holocaust didn't exist, listen to the video and then go read the news articles, you will see how good our media is in bringing giving us the wrong idea of what happened. He says lets do some research for newer perspectives; there is nothing wrong with that! He doesn't hate Jews, Americans or anyone. He may have been misunderstood but that’s about it. If it does come down to what’s good and bad, what’s wrong and right, well lets just say that we are the bully and we are wrong in thinking its our way or no way. Bollinger is the president of this university? I feel sorry for the kids going to this school, he is an idiot and have knows a very little about proper communication and other cultures. Either that or he wants people to like him so he just goes with the crowd. Wake up, Iran is offering a hand of friendship and we are trying to force them in a war.
35. all u stop hating on the "jews' and start loving yoursleves.

36. no gays on the moon
retep vilt ,   vancouver canada   (09.26.07)
Iran's president erect, for certainly that is what he is doing behind that podium, Mr. Myheadsinajar, is mistaken. There are gay people in Iran. And there is also common sense, rationality, intelligence and, yes, compassion, none of which has been experienced by Mr. Myheadsinajar. Too bad. He's missing the human party bigtime.
37. Gays in Iran; either in the closet or coffin
Obama ,   Washington DC   (09.26.07)
38. It's no wonder they don't have gays
they could use a ,   few gays, usa   (09.26.07)
If they had gays, they would be wearing Versace and Valentino instead of burkas, Ayatollah rags and polyester suits.
39. #33 Ahmed: In America, they don't HANG gays
give me a break ,   usa   (09.26.07)
just for being gay. Capital punishment is not a humane way to treat people whose lifestyle you don't agree with. You are obviously too dumb to acknowledge the difference between peoples' opinions and what is acceptable under the law of the land.
40. #34 really pathetically argued comments
whatever! ,   usa   (09.26.07)
You should be very embarrassed to defend Ahmedinejad. I watched him being interviewed on Charlie Rose and paid close attention to his facial gestures. When the interviewer asked him a hard question, Ahmadinejad sat there and narrowed his eyes like a coiled cobra, but the content of his words that were conveyed by the translator was in direct conflict with his facial expressions. He licked his lips and blinked a lot when he was asked about nuclear weapons, which studies have shown indicates that someone is lying, yet his words were about his peaceful intentions. I'd sooner trust a scorpian than this devious, cunning crocodile! Bollinger had every right to denegrate this man for his brazen polemical rhetoric. After all, freedom of speech goes both ways.
41. meanwhile; back in Argentina

42. #34...you either have no clue, or
DR ,   Florida, USA   (09.26.07)
you are a radical muslim supporter. If you knew anything about what is happening in Iran today, you would not defend this little despot. His people have very few rights, women are not treated equally there, they ban western culture in Iran (music, clothing, even hair styles). People are executed in public in Iran for god knows what reasons. There is a mountain of evidence to suggest that Iran arms and funds terror groups like Hezballah. And sends weapons ot Iraq to kill American soldiers. Etc etc etc. iranian citizens want to get rid of this religiously fanatic regime, but they can't due to fear...sound familiar??? Now, if you are an honest, reasonable person and you have all this information and you still think the US is the bad guy here...you need to leave our country and live in Iran.
43. Confidence in lies
Chris ,   UK   (09.26.07)
Ahmadinejad is confident that there are no Gays in Iran because he won't want to believe the truth. He is also confident that he can stand up to the USA because he won't believe the truth.
