1. A demon is a demon cannot demonise any further...
ben ,   singapore   (09.27.07)
Ahmedinejad is a Haman Demon. Democracy in Iran ? IT IS DEMONIC DEMOCRAZY ACTUALLY ALL THESE YEARS, EVEN NOW NOTHING DIFFRENT ! ....he resembles a "petty and cruel dictator." WELL SAID Bravo !
2. Mirdamadi is wrong about Iran's nukes
Steve ,   US   (09.27.07)
Mirdamadi may be right about the disrespectful treatment Iran's president got from Bollinger; that it only worked to the president's advantage in Iran. His warning not to destroy Iran's nascent nuclear capability is sheer folly. A nuclear armed Iran is unthinkable! What is wrong with this Mirdamadi? I could care less about democracy in Iran. I'm sick of Iran. Iran is full of fanatics. I am concerned about Iran killing millions of people in a "flash" Mr. Mirdamadi. What is wrong with this man?!
3. He is saying that out of concern for HIS political agenda.
Hamburger ,   Hamburg   (09.27.07)
He is the leader of opposition in Iran, so he is worried about the political situation INSIDE Iran, where as the reason for tension between Iran and US results from Iran's nuclear program, which does not concern this Mirdamadi guy one bit, obviously. That's why we shouldn't take him too seriously, for he is following his own agenda, and it's not the same one as the rest of the world has.
4. What democracy? What reformers?
Saul ,   Barcelona   (09.27.07)
Whatever happened to the "reformist" Rafsanjani? Stuck around only long enough to usher in the neuclear program, providing a friendly "progressive" cover for he ayatollahs to develop their WMDs Yesterday we had the Iranian Jews protesting, today it is the "reformist". Will it be tomorrow the non-existing homosexuals denouncing the mistreatment of their beloved president?
5. I for one
Steve from Raleigh   (09.27.07)
Am sick to death of worrying what people who simply do nothing will become irritated at. We've been hearing the same nonsense for nearly 30 years about the nascent people's revolution in Iran which will suddenly rise up....and...and...and do something. It will never happen and we don't need to concern ourselves what the fat rich do-nothing Iranian intellectual middle class will become irritated by. They might as well be outraged Liberals blogging to their nine friends.
6. Anyone who rallies around such a man...
DR ,   Florida, USA   (09.27.07)
deserves the same fate that is coming to him!!!
7. The pure face value of notorious islamic regime
Gh-Reza Amouzadeh ,   Toronto-Canada   (09.27.07)
I draw the attention of you all to a report some times in the past years.General Aslam Beg a top range military stars man from Pakistan in an interview said that as a matter of strategy and deterrent i recommended Islamic Republic of Iran's leaders" always threat Israel, and keep it in hand as a tool and hostage in your relationship with western countries". President Ahmadi-Nejad is a product of such deliberations. It means the leaders from hard liners to so called reformists of Islamic Iran had totally consent on his presidency. All the rest of allegations are gaming and is decided to distort international community. Like the above mentioned experience, all the Iranian leaders been and still are working on a plot, but in basic it is failed. That is the reason of their current united crying. What has happened in Columbia University is the pure face value of regime. They been decided to create a gap in U.S.A society and leadership and to work on it.By developing this gap then they will get succeed to divide the U.S.A into two parts and polarize it.So that then after they will get a better safe side and will laugh on America. Since months ago Iranian regime put about $60 Billion dollars in His pocket along with some Carpets and Caviar and Champing. Incidentally the reformist group which making the biggest networking of agents belonging to security services had the main rule in this agenda. They tried to transfer the message to important people with enough influence in politic scene, and having them to cooperate with their lobbies in western certain countries, specially in U.S.A. But as i said all those conspiracy got broken in U.S.A.The leaders of America showed that they are awaking, and vigilant. The exhibit of Unity in Senate and congress was a wonderful answer back to this regime, and a natural consequences for their notorious activities.
8. #7, great explanation my friend !
T.I ,   Israel   (09.27.07)
All these people in the Iranian regime want to develop a nuclear weapons in order to wipe my country of the map. We know well, that many Iranian exiles like you understands us. My grandfather was in your native country before 1979, and he always telling me about the iranian hospitality. Maybe, one day I will have this kind of opportunity. As you know, we don't have anything against muslims, we have problems only with radicals.
9. I agreed with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad...
ER ,   Canada   (09.27.07)
…when he objected to being subjected to a humiliating introduction at Columbia. By virtue of his being invited to speak, he was given the legitimacy of having debatable arguments. That being the case, he should have been given the opportunity to defend his position free of personal attacks. Far better not to have invited this animal.
10. ahmadinejad should have spoken about
george ,   usa   (09.27.07)
history especially the 1950s when the coup against moshedeq & the installation of the shah the DICTATOR.
11. Ask the hostages at the US embassy about Iranian hospitality
David Powell ,   Everett, Wa. USA   (09.27.07)
12. ER #9 is right
Steve ,   US   (09.27.07)
Here we have a foolish University president --- who little doubt agrees with much of the Iranian president's view --- doing his best to cover his rear end with a introduction full of personal attacks. Mr. Bollinger knows history will judge him as the man who digified and gave legitimacy to a genocidal mass-murderer. What else could he do?
13. He was one of the organizers of the 79 hostage taking!

14. #9 and #12
Hamburger   (09.27.07)
What are you talking about, "opportunity to defend his position"?? No one denied this opportunity from him! The truth is - he had no answers.
15. Columbia
Marilyn ,   USA   (09.27.07)
I feel confused about whole thing and upset. I felt like Bollinger used cheap tactics, so it played against ideas of fairness and freedom of speech. Sad thing is is that he could have easily won if he had acted normally.
16. Mr. Bush, does the US have any
george ,   usa   (09.28.07)
plans to invade Myanmar bec. tyranny is cracking down on democracy? mr bush reply 'they do not have oil'.
17. To Mr. M Mirdamadi. A Decent Person Should NOT Hesitate.
Maansingh ,   The Netherlands   (09.28.07)
You say :".. Ahmadinejad should have little chance of re-election in two years ..". Mr. Mirdamadi, whether Ahmadinejad will be re-elected in 2 years or not -- is of NO importance to the world. The real rulers of Iran are the Ayatollahs -- and it is THOSE Ayatollahs that have to be removed from the scene. BTW the Ayatollahs are NOT meant to be at the helm of state-affairs -- they are meant to be sitting and preaching in the mosques of Iran !! BTW the remarks of the C.U. president regarding Pres. Ahmadinejad is just. WHY ? Because a decent person should NOT hesitate to tell the truth about someone -- however painful it might sound, also to the person concerned. BTW we are NOT concerned about the feelings of Pres. Ahamdinejad. WHY NOT ? Because he prosecutes journalists and others who have different opinions than the State ; because he is AGAINST freedom of speech in Iran ; because he is AGAINST people with a different religion like the Sunni, Bahai, etc..
18. MOHSEN MIRDAMADI...........UNKNOWN...#6
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (09.28.07)
Last, desperate efforts by this insignificant character by the name of Mohsen Mirdanadi.Since the time of revolution this chracter has been going round in circles soliciting support.Only the name remains in limelight for people like DR to have little bit of relief in knowing someone is working on USA's behalf.
19. "Reformist" my arse.
sk ,   USA   (09.28.07)
The reformers are in prison or dead or in the US. Or hiding. As a rule of thumb, nobody still in Iran who is mentioned by name merits the description "reformist."
