1. Good ! Some Big Time Humble Pie...
Jude ,   London   (09.28.07)
This is good news, hopefully a precedent to end this shameful chapter with all Unions & malicious discriminators who propose such motions. Congratulations & respect to all those who got out of their armchairs & supported the anti boycott campaign so successfully.
2. "after seeking legal advice"
(09.28.07)
=weaselese for "after realizing that a true boycott of Israeli input means our certain scientific destruction." Dumb bunnies probably typed out their boycott proposal on a Pentium-powered computer...
3. However, we should still Boycott British Academia
meir elazar   (09.28.07)
We should still boycott British Academia and drive the message down their throat. Eating crow is not sufficient. In light of the major technological and academic advances in Israel, we can hold our heads high and not share our accomplishments with Brit "academia". Fortunately, the president of Columbia Univ. said that the freedom of speech in USA extends not only the petty thugs like Ahmadinejad but also to me so I call tell Ahmadinejad in his face what I think of him publically and without pulling any punches.
4. British are learning the hard way!
DR ,   Florida, USA   (09.28.07)
Hopefully this will set a trend for future generations to follow!
5. To YNet re:nr 3
leon ,   Grand Rapids USA   (09.28.07)
Publish Meir Elazar's post as an opinion piece to make it generally available to all readers ! And print this post if you dare.
6. Wakey wakey
AJ ,   Tel Aviv   (09.28.07)
The Brits finally realised that by boycotting Israel they'd be cutting themselves off from the best brains and talent in the world. Now they're crawling back to us... I think we should actually return the favour to them.
7. who cares ?!
(09.28.07)
the universities in US are the important ones.
8. Anti-Semitic Wankers
Laurence ,   Santa Ana, CA USA   (09.28.07)
People who need attorneys to tell them the difference between right and wrong are ultimately useless people. They can take their "non-boycott elements of the motion" and stick them up their collective _____.
9. UCU Boycott
M. Harltey ,   Atlanta, US   (09.28.07)
Legal ramifications my a--!!! It must have dawned on somebody that cutting off your nose to spite your face is not the smart thing to do.
10. SHUT UP ABOUT THE BRITS - HERES WHY
andrew ,   miami,fl   (09.28.07)
1) JEWS NEVER CONQUERED HOLE CONTINETS AND THEN OPENED THEM UP TO EVERYONE 2) THEY TOOK IN A LOT MORE PEOPLE FROM THE HOLOCAUST THAN THEY HAD TOO
11. #10: Brits also taking in more Islamists than they should
(09.28.07)
12. Whew!!
Cameron ,   USA   (09.28.07)
Man, I don't know about you kids, but me, I'm wiping the sweat off my now-relieved brow. Thank God Israel had the outrageous good luck to avoid being struck by that sanctimonious Progressive thunderbolt out of Merry Old England.
13. Columbia
Ypip ,   Vancouver, Cda   (09.28.07)
Well I think I'm going to go read some Poe now so I don't break a blood vessel over it.
14. #10
(09.28.07)
WHAT????? are you insane?
15. #10 Is that a joke? ;-)
Richard   (09.28.07)
"Hole continents!" Hah Hah! Hah!!! If your TB is a bait to make Jews work hard at their computers to explain the most basic facts of history, forget it. You're hopeless, Andy. Go back and play outside.... And when you pass the library, take a look inside. C'mon, don't be afraid of what's inside. They are called books. No, you don't play them on your computer.... You turn the pages and read.... And maybe, depending on your choice, you might learn something.
16. I Can't believe that i say that
Daniel   (09.28.07)
But im actually prefer the French over the Brits this days. Lo Yeuman.
17. #10 - No. Perhaps you should.
Laurence ,   Santa Ana, CA USA   (09.28.07)
Britain is no friend to Israel and presently, merely tolerates its Jews. With its abject surrender to Islamists, I don't think Britain even cares about the British. Also, typing in all caps doesn't make your "argument" more compelling.
18. to15
y. o ,   uk   (09.28.07)
Great comment thank you
19. hole in one
Ypip ,   Vancouver, Cda   (09.28.07)

"We need a DEBATE!!!!"Lets debate Israels legitimacy&why the fuss over the Holocaust!!! That Selfhating Jewish UK Foreign Minister Millipeed said at the Labour Party Conference this week that the Israel- Pal Problem is giving Al Queda excuses for its actions. (Al Queda also said it wants to murder the "SLAGS"-loose women- at the London Ministry of Sound Disco Club-Will Millipeed close that London Disco to avoid Al Queda Action/)

LARRY ,   zefat israel   (09.28.07)
surely you mean whole continents not hole continents.your spelling leaves much to be desired.
24. To #10
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (09.29.07)
Just for drill and since I obviously missed a chapter in history, but exactly the entirety of which continent did the Brits conquer when? (This is a trick question Andrew, so think hard how you'll answer.)
25. Guess they start missing some money...
Lednah ,   Europe   (09.29.07)
26. Thank you USA
Liliane ,   Brighton, UK   (09.29.07)
We should thank the USA. The threats of US university boycotts freaked them out.
27. are there any universities left in the UK?
Londonistan ,   very soon   (09.29.07)
I thought they all turned into madrasas.
28. How Incredibly Benevolent Of Them
Bill Foonman ,   Jacksonville, USA   (09.29.07)
I am certain that Israel will be hugely relieved now that Britain's UCU has decided not to boycott the country. Israel can now get on with worrying about less critical issues. Seriously though, the UCU has us all confused with someone who actually gives a damn what they think.
29. Larry #23 - u'r much too kind
Isragirl   (09.29.07)
LOL I'm sure you could have done so much more with that comment... Anyhoo, my favorite part about their retraction was that the boycott "might constitute discrimination". Really? But I thought it didn't count if it's against the Jews. We gained one thing from all this - now the whole world is aware that England's new pro-Palestinian sentiments are actually a cover-up for England's plain old antisemitism. You can't teach an old dog new tricks.
30. Are they boycotting Burma?
Micha   (09.29.07)
an actual oppression of a peaceful group. haven't heard any stories of homicide bombing monks.
