of Israel must stand trial for high treason.
2. Race to see who can betray his own people more....
Roscio ,   Rome, Italy   (10.03.07)
Two powerless corrupt politicians without quality, totally without any mandate from their own people. The minute the IDF stops protecting Abbas, he is gone and another Islamofascist terror state will be born in the West Bank. Olmert has less than 3% of Israelis behind him, so he cannot declare anything. He is selling Israel down the river, in order to stay in power and out of jail. Let the anti-Zionist traitor and the Holocaust denier negotiate together forever, in a prison cell somewhere, while the rest of the Jews and Arabs get on with real life.
3. May H-shem bring down OLMERT GOVT>
Jacqueline ,   USA   (10.03.07)
May H-shem bring down this Govt. of Israel. May H-shem hold these leaders responsible for trying to tear Israel apart. May He bring down this Govt. in away that all will see, that H-shem is and will always be the boss. Olmert and his crew should start looking to the Only One that can change the picture of Israel.

5. Olmert offers good will to Arabs, not Jews...
Nannette ,   London   (10.03.07)
Olmert releases prisoners without asking for Shalit in exchange, a goodwill gesture on the part of the PA. Why won't Olmert ask for any goodwill from the PA, but is always willing to concede to their demands? Olmert's government is one which the people of Israel can't trust, respect or even like. He's betrayed Israel and the Jewish people.
6. Last Chance for the Israelis
Samer ,   Ramallah   (10.03.07)
I beleive this is the final chance for ISRAELIS (not Israel as a Gov) to utilaize this chance to strick a deal for a permanent peace with the Palestinians. Remember that nothing on this earth is eternal, so do not rely on the fact that you have a strong army and that the US is supporting you. Look at what Hizbullah has done with you and what Syria is expecting to do with you and do not forget what is happening to the Americans in Iraq and what is going to happen to you and the US when you start the war on Iran !!! Striking a peace deal with the Palestinians is in fact in your best interest !! Your continoue rejection to a fair peace process has created movements like Hamas and Hizbuallah. Life is short, let us live in peace, and for one time, try to enter into a fair peace process. No one is asking you to compromise on your securiry, but security can never be acheived by occupying and punishing another nation. There is no winner in war, we are all loosers. I can not beleive there is no solution to the conflict if there is the good well from both sides. You have already built a fences along the boarders between the PNA areas and the Israeli areas, why do you have to keep 450 check points across the west bank punishing people everyday ?? This is never a good well !! There are actions that the Israel army is doing everyday inside the west bank for no good reasons. The inocient people are getting punished and not the radicals !! Another issue, everyone is saying Abu Mazen is a weak leader, well, Israel has made him weak, and you will never find a strong leader in the Palestinian side unless Israel helps him to be strong, and this can only be acheived by having your army and settlers leave our land.. You will never gain from staying here except death and sadness on both sides. And I will tell you one question, and if you are clever enough you would understand what I mean ;; Now Hamas is solely in Gaza and Abu Mazen is not there anymore, and there are rocket being shot almost everyday at Israel, why the Israeli army is not stopping them from firing rockets? Why Israel has always blamed Abu MAzen for not being to stop the rockets and they themselves are setting doing nothing against Hamas, well, the answer is , The Israeli Gov WNATS HAMAS in the game !!!! And this is the problem, the Israel Gov is not really seeking a solution !! It's all dirty political games !
7. history lesson
Yonatan ,   USA   (10.03.07)
The land formerly called Palestine was controlled by absentee landlords living in Syria. They rented it out to Arab farmers who paid them meagerly in return. Jews suffering persecution in Europe approached the absentee landlords and offered to buy the land. The absentee landlords agreed and stopped renting to the Arabs. The Arabs were angry that the absentee landlords sold the land to the Jews and decided to take it out on the new owners. However, the landlords owned the land, it was their right to decide what to do with it, and they wanted to sell it to the Jews. Later Britain and the UN tried to divide up the land along demographic lines and the Arabs rejected all offers. They then proceeded to launch wars against Israel in which they made no attempt to mask their genocidal goals. They continually lost land to Israel in their aggressive wars and as a direct result their lives are quite miserable. They then started suicide bombings and Israel defended itself by going after the attackers. The lives of the Palestinians became even more pathetic as Israel was forced to defend itself and the Palestinian gov. redirected resources in its efforts to kill Jews. The so called settlements are nothing more than one victorious nation exercising its right to occupy land it conquered in a defensive war. It's time Israel stopped apologizing for its actions. Israel has acted with incredible restraint throughout history and should be commended. Israel conquered lands in defensive wars and it is theirs to do with as they please. Peace should be made with the Palestinians. But it should be made on Israel's terms. Olmert would do well to remember this.
8. impossible in Jews' hands
(10.03.07)
American King-Crane Commission, 1919: With the best possible intentions, it may be doubted whether the Jews could possibly seem to either Christians or Moslems proper guardians of the holy places, or custodians of the Holy Land as a whole. The reason is this: the places which are most sacred to Christians-those having to do with Jesus-and which are also sacred to Moslems, are not only not sacred to Jews, but abhorrent to them. It is simply impossible, under those circumstances, for Moslems and Christians to feel satisfied to have these places in Jewish hands, or under the custody of Jews. There are still other places about which Moslems must have the same feeling. In fact, from this point of view, the Moslems, just because the sacred places of all three religions are sacred to them, have made very naturally much more satisfactory custodians of the holy places than the Jews could be. http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/History/crane.html

Abel Shoni ,   France   (10.03.07)

10. Well said, Samer
Isragirl   (10.03.07)
Let's hope there are more people like you, people of good will, who see things straight and can make smart, yet unpopular decisions. Let's also hope that more Palestinians will abandon "Let's kill all Jews" attitude - you won't believe how much easier the life in territories will be once we see that. Peace.
11. #6 - Samer
David ,   USA   (10.03.07)
You're addressing the Israelis, and I'm not one. Also you are making a lot of statements that are not backed by reality, but to rebut them would take too long. Sol, I have a single question for you. Maybe you'd like to answer it for me. You seem to put all the burden for your unhappiness on the Israeli "occupation". I have a very practical question to you: how do you think that having a country of your own is going to improve the quality of life for you, your family, the rest of your compatriots. I'm quite serious asking you this because Palestinians seem to have everything going against them from the start. Name one single element in your society that is working well, that is strong enough to unite you as a civilized society. The desire to succeed is not enough. You need strong social foundations. You need infrastructure. You need a minimum of trust among the population. You need a common belief in something. If you succeed, that would be great not only for you but for your Israeli neighbors. If you start tearing each other apart, that will disrupt the whole region, including Jordan. You had years - many years - to prepare for independence. You had countless amounts of money given to you. You had the support of the whole world. You have been the darlings of Europeans and intellectuals everywhere. And after all that investment in you, you have nothing to show for it. I'm not throwing accusations at you. I don't know you. You are probably a nice guy who just wants a job and to live in peace. But facts are facts. To tell you the truth, with all the inconveniences of "occupation", if I were in your place, I'd rather have that than the chaos that followed the withdrawal of the Israelis from Gaza. I believe that you and Palestinians who want real peace would be much better off living as Jordanians and Egyptians than as Palestinians in a chaotic state where you won't be masters. Every faction, every country in the Middle East will want to use you as they have used you before. Take your clue from Lebanon, and that country has an advantage over you in the sense that they have experienced a normal life before. They can tell the difference between being an independent country and being in a civil war or under the thumb of a neighboring Muslim country. So what I'm trying to say is beware of what you wish for. You are asking for a separate state and you may get it. What that will mean to you and your family is something that will probably be so bad, you'll end up emigrating anyway, particularly if you have a family. Do you want your kids to grow up being brainwashed by the state or being caught in the middle of a firefight? Do you want to live in the middle of violence and corruption to a degree you haven't experienced yet? Do you want to live with the tensions of extreme Islamism and their rules of behavior being imposed by force? I'm sure you don't. But you have no way of avoiding that. So that's what I'd like to know. How are you going to make your life better after independence. Realistically speaking. Not based on ideals and good wishes.
12. more like a race to israel's suicie is beginning
(10.03.07)
13. Silly to raise expectations on a dead issue!
redmiike ,   tel aviv   (10.03.07)
Apart from the fact that Abbas wouldn't be able to deliver on anything that he committed to I haven't read one thing about what he is committed to doing! Since most Israelis believe that closing off Gaza completely and getting rid of it is the only sane solution then the 'passage' that Abbas wants between Gaza and the West Bank is a dead issue. Why does he want this passage? The right of return is not up for negotiation. Jerusalem ? The whole thing is just so much waffle and barely worth printing or reading about. At best it's worthless and at worse it will spark violence because of unfulfilled expectations!
14. This is suicidal... ELECTIONS NOW!

15. 13 - You're dangerously overconfident
Carl ,   Indianapolis   (10.03.07)
Look back through all of Olmert's tenure and everything he has gotten away with. It gets worse. Bush is determined not to take no for an answer. He does not want to be challenged by a little country he thinks he "owns", particularly since Israel is no threat to the US. You don't export terrorists, you can't cut off their oil pipelines, you can't cause the Americans any trouble at all. So Bush can bully you with inpunity all he wants. Also, this is not about what you think is right but what the Left wants. And regarding Gaza, you may prefer to keep it separate and closed off. But Abbas still considers himself President of the WB and Gaza. Besides, Fatah and Hamas still have too many close links, particularly through the Al Aksa M. brigade. So in a matter of months they'll be talking to each other again. So nothing is impossible or non-negotiable. After seeing the expulsions of Jews, I believe the Israeli government is capable of anything. I hope I'm wrong and that the people of Israel will stand up to the government and tell Olmert he doesn't have the right to relinquish so much to the Arabs. At least, not without a referendum.

19. Advice To The Government : Take Your Time
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (10.03.07)
Hasty agreements will kill us. Dear Government- My best advice to you is: take your time. Make no hasty decisions. Wait. Do not feel pressured to act. Think once. Think twice, and then think again. Ask the people. Go slowly. Very slowly. Previous governments have all acted rashly, and then regretted it. Don't let anyone, the Arabs or the Americans, pressure you into making any decision which make be irreversible. Time is on our side - if you let it be. Gut Yontif.
20. #11- American zionists should stay out of it
Khalid ,   The Netherlands   (10.03.07)
American zionists like you (the so-called friends of Israel who are more Israelis than the Israelis) should stop supporting one side at the expense of the other, resulting in all the ills iin Palestinian society which you mentioned in your talback. Of course you 'll have much to loose in case a peace deal is struck between the two sides, the least of which is that American zionists will no longer get subsidized housing in settlements built on lands stolen from decent peolple like Samer and the rest of decent Palestinian people. Mind you that these settlements are built contrary to international wall, so we should here talk about the Israeli violations of international law, before talking about lawlessness in Palestinian land, which is the direct result of Israeli disrespest of Palestinians rights. This creates a situation where decent law abiding people are pushed aside, promoting extremists elements, seeking to promote the rights of their people (which cannot be protected by law because of Israeli policies) through violent means. Just imagine a group of Mexicans trying to build an exclusively Mexican settlement (which no American may enter and any American approaching it will get shot on the spot) on the outskirts of your town. That would certainly lead to violence and extremism. Moreover, the settlements is only one examples of the many Israeliviolations of Palestinian rights

22. Israeli PA "declaration of principles"
Danny   (10.03.07)
Haven't we heard this phrase before? Maybe we can get Clinton to stand in the background. At least Olmert doesn't need to write a speech, he can use Rabin's one - "No more blood....", we know how that ended....
23. #20, Rights but no responsibilities
Danny   (10.03.07)
Should be the arab motto. It was the PA who stole all that money, it was Hamas that IMMEDIATELY started carrying out attacks when Oslo was announced. It was the Palestinian leader in 1947 who started the war that you lost. It was Jordan who attacked Israel in 1967 resulting in Israel conquering the West Bank and East Jerusalem. It is the Palestinians who have been the main killers of Palestinians this year. As for your pathetic Mexican analogy, there are plenty of neighbourhoods in Texas, California etc that are ethnically homogenous. You think a neighbourhood of black people makes the KKK OK? Palestinians are the only people for whom people BUYING their land is a "legitimate" reason for killing people. I assume you also voted for Pym Fortuyn before he was killed by Islamist "colonialists".
24. #20 Khalid should stay out of it
oranje soldat ,   Kijkend voor u, NL   (10.03.07)
and when I say "it" I mean Nederland it was sort of funny reading your post, since its pretty much all nonsense. I was wondering how you would like it if I switched a few words like "you" will no longer get subsidized housing......and that "you" would live on land stolen from decent "dutch". The "dutch" people never did, and continue to not want hoardes of "khalids" coming to live next door. But guess what? We were never asked if we would like you and your family to come. And whenever we were asked, we said politely "no thanks" but it didnt matter eh? your ignorant reply to #11 (which was very well laid out) did not answer anything he asked. 11 didnt ask anything unreasonable. He just asked for a tiny morsel of hope. And your reply was "stay out of it" thats why I don't ask you anything. Because I have already heard your diatribe many times before. And btw it is as based on falsehoods as it was the first time I heard it.(funnily enough from a guy named khalid mohamed who lived next door in noord-Holland)
25. #20 We are the Native Americans in Israel

We Jews were the original people in Israel like the Native Americans were in the United States so butt out yourself. http://ralphsrant1.blogspot.com/
26. # 24 - Racists like you should stay out of the Netherlands
Khalid ,   The Netherlands   (10.03.07)
To begin with al people in the Netherlands have the same rights as long as they obey the rules, irrespective of their names. You are funny if you thinnk that just because your name is not arabic sounding you will get more rights than other citizens whose names you do not like. If this is your way of thinking then perhaps you should leave (since there is nothing in the Dutch law to support your way of thinking, and in this way your in fact breaking the Dutch law) and seek another country where your rights are contingent on what your name, or religion, or race is. Israel is very good candidate for you where your citizenship rights are detrmined by your religious background and where you can man an Israeli checkpoint to harrass people whose names you do not like. By the way what makes you so sure that the Dutch people like yoour name? Who asiigns you a spokesman for the Dutch people to dictate whom they like and whom they don't. Try to present your ideas in the Dutch parliament and show us how it will be received there.
27. general declaration of surrender
Marcel ,   Florida   (10.03.07)
The upcoming U.S. led conference in November which olmert and Abbas are preparing for is nothing but Israel's engineered surrender. Even after defeating the Arab armies the no peace process has brought about Israel's defeat and terms of surrender to those intent on their destruction.
28. #20 well said, Khalid
(10.03.07)
they want to solve the problem to the advantage of their interest. They use the same tactic of the old colonial policy: "you cannot rule yourselves, you cannot build infrastructure for your country, you cannot find jobs for your people" In his address of July 4, 1918, President Wilson laid down the following principle as one of the four great "ends for which the associated peoples of the world were fighting": "The settlement of every question, whether of territory, of sovereignty, of economic arrangement or of political relationship upon the basis of the free acceptance of that settlement by the people immediately concerned, and not upon the basis of the material interest or advantage of any other nation or people which may desire a different settlement for the sake of its own exterior influence or mastery." If that principle is to rule, and so the wishes of Palestine's population are to be decisive as to what is to be done with Palestine, then it is to be remembered that the non-Jewish population of Palestine-nearly nine-tenths of the whole-are emphatically against the entire Zionist program. The tables show that there was no one thing upon which the population of Palestine was more agreed than upon this. To subject a people so minded to unlimited Jewish immigration, and to steady financial and social pressure to surrender the land, would be a gross violation of the principle just quoted, and of the peoples' rights, though it kept within the forms of law. http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/History/crane.html
