1. Anti-Zionist
Cosmopolitan ,   Jerusalem   (10.05.07)
Roni feels "sorrow" seeing that "only a handful" Jews remain in Damascus. Hasn't he understood that that is the whole idea with zionism, that Jews should abandon communities where the have been rooted for centuries to move to Israel. An nearly empty synagogue anywhere in the world should fill a true zionist with joy. It means that the Jewish Agency has done it's job.
2. Very Moving

Very moving. Thanks.
3. Demascus Is not the Safest Place to be hanging out ! !
Roy C. H. ,   Pittsburg, USA   (10.05.07)
According to Isaiah: 17:1. This part has not yet been done according to History. I take it, they know what they are doing about this City that will go out from Night to Daylight in Gods time. The same goes for the Chief of Gog & Magog there never has been a 7 month funeral in the History of Mankind Ezek,38/39, but they do not have a choice, They will come & it will be a full time Job for Many to clean up & bury that Problem once & for all, this is a very exciting time in my life to see the Hand of God at work in our time. Is that ok to print.?? That is how many read the true Holy Book. ok?? RcH. USA
4. Why does every fool post from "Jerusalem"
Sasson ,   Holon, Israel   (10.05.07)
Such as #1. One of the reasons you don't see Jews in Syria anymore, is that because of the harsh and totalitarian government imposed by the Assad family (his father and now his son) - such as secret police called the Mahubarat. The Jews of Syria had to be smuggled out of the country. Why dont you educate yourself: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Jews_in_Syria http://www.jewishgen.org/SefardSIG/AleppoJews.htm http://www.haruth.com/jw/jews_syria.htm We were kicked out, and furthermore, the Jewish Agency discriminated against Sephardim/Mizrahit until very recently.
5. יהודי סוריה
Jakie ,   AFRICA CITY   (10.06.07)
May G-d bless them and keep them safe. I would love to visit Syria in a time of true peace. It should not make a true Zionist happy to see a synagogue outside of Israel empty. Rather, a TRUE Zionist would be happy to see a prosperous Jewish community in living in a country which has real peace with Israel. After all, the real Arabic culture is closer to our ancient Hebrew traditions than American culture. I agree with Sasson number 4!
6. So why is this guy in Syria at all? Why is this news?

7. #4 - Have you read the contents of your links
Khalid ,   The Netherlands   (10.06.07)
Had you put enough effort and insight into reading the contents of the links you posted in your talkback you would have come to the conclusion that your plight and the plight of the Arab Jews (also called Mizrahis) is a direct consequence of the zioist plot to empty Palestine of its native population and replace them with Jews from around the world. This is after all the essence of the zionist ideology, to create a majority of one poulation group at the expense of the other. All the links you posted, point to the fact that Arab Jews were leading an economically prosperous life (testimonies of visitors to their quarters), enjoying religious freedom (indicated by their many synagogues), and even provided refuge after being expelled from Spain. This was true up to around the thirties of last century when east european zionists started expelling the Palestinians from their lands either by force or by fraudulent purchase contracts. After the establishment of Israel, the zionists were faced with the challenge of filling Palestine with Jewish immigrants to prermanently tilt the demographic balance in theirt favor. To their disappointment Jewish immigration from Europe almost came to halt after the defeat of nazism and most Jews preferred America or France to a potentially unsecure Israel. The only remainig option to keep the demographic balance in their favour is to turn to the Arab Jews. They realized that they could hit two birds with a single stone, by mistreating and expelling more Palestinians, Muslim Arab emotions and anger will build up (especially in light of their weakness and inability to counter zionist acts)and will naturally be directed against the Arab Jews who have lived in their midst in peace and harmony for more than one thousand years. Unfortunately, the Arabs at the time (given the state of their weakness and being led by corrupt unpopular governments) kind of swallowed this zionist bait, and unwittingly did the zionists the favor they so desperately needed.
8. #1 visting the enemy Jews
(10.06.07)
I agree with you they approach the Jews in Diaspora as enemy anti-Zionts who have to repent or otherwise doors of hill will open on them.
9. #5 why dont you just shut up.
maya ,   israel   (10.06.07)
america is helping us in every field of life and you are so ungreateful. shame on you!!! stupid jews like you should go live in arabs land in liberty and freedom.
10. #7 If "Zionists" and Jews are different - why then did Arabs
Sasson ,   Holon, Israel   (10.06.07)
riot and destroy Synagogues in Syria like Aleppo or in Iraq or in Yemen. There is no difference in the Arab mind between the "Zionists" and Jews, why were their riots, why were our communities that were thousands of years old destroyed through secret polices, mass rioting. Don't blame Israel that Arabs had and still have to go absolutely APE over everything. Your people have no self control. Over 900,000 Jews had to leave Arab lands because of these riotings, through the increasing of the taxes, through secret polices. I would love to visit my old community, but sadly it will not happen until the Arabs wake up and calm down for once. Your holy sites are in Mecca and Medina, you know in your heart Jerusalem is for the Jews. If you want real peace, it is give and take, you get 99% of the ME while we Jews get little Israel then we can return to the great relations of old where Rabbi and Sheik would be friends and where there was no enemy. Are we not brothers?
11. Damascus-a scary place to be
Avi ,   USA   (10.06.07)
Eventually, what remains in Damascus will return to Israel. It's only a matter of time-you'll see.

jakie ,   AFRICA   (10.07.07)
I won't respond with hatred like you do. you are so full of fear and anger and that is why you abuse your fellow people. i wasn't saying i hate america or i love the arab countries. just stating a simple fact. you are too arrogant and ignorant to appreciate that. God bless you sweetheart.
13. Oh Damascus ... A very nice city
