This guy is a moron. Everything he says is either a lie or illogical or both. Well, except the stuff about Syria supporting Hizbollah during the Lebanon war.
11. it was a total success
MJDavidson ,   Nashville TN   (10.04.07)
The Russians are worried, the Iranians are worried and so are the Syrians. The Russians gave both countries their latest and greatest, supposedly unjammable anitaircraft systems. What was the result? The IAF jammed everything and the mission was carried out without any planes being downed. Now the Russians are on their way back to figure out what to do next. The Americans are thrilled because they will have access to the electronic intelligence. Win Win for the good guys.

parliamentarian seems to have forgotten is that towards the end of the "October War", more properly known as the Yom Kippur War, the IDF was within 20 km of Damascus poised to inflict such damage the likes of which no Arab country has yet experienced. If it wasn't for the elder Assad begging the UN for a cease fire declaration the Israeli flag would be flying in Damascus today. Great Syrian acheivement, indeed.
14. Funny
Alin ,   Bucharest,Romania   (10.04.07)
During the Lebanon war, they denied involvement...But this declaration is so stupid;it reflects Syrian arrogance and stupidity....Syria aerial defense forces?BS!!!
15. A QUESTION FOR ALL OF YOU
Israel ,   Israel   (10.04.07)
If Israeli jets flew over Syria, attacked whatever site was attacked, and returned safely, and not 1 shot was fired at them...and this Syrian Minister of Disinformation calls it a "FAILED MISSION." Well then my question is what is his defenition of a ACCOMPLISHED MISSION???
16. To #15: Damascus a heap of rubble like S. Beirut?

how we pilots in the iaf do not say a single thing. no information. no one is trying to convice the world of our success. while all syria does is blah blah blah israel failed and israel this and israel that. the thing is that if one is trying to convince the world that their enemy israel failed over and over again, indeed it points to the fact that israel indeed did not fail. why try to convince the world we failed? could it be because we really suceeded in getting what we wanted, whatever it was? believe me, we suceeded more than in our wildest dreams and i wish i could tell you how and where, but they'll kill me if i do. we left a big damage, enough to cause the syrians more embarassment than ever. we entered, got what we were after, jammed it all and let go of our fuel tanks and extra weight and left. the bombs we left in syria. the fuel tanks some minutes later in turkey. shalom and to all my friends in the iaf. you lucky bastards! you were great!
18. hummmm?
(10.05.07)
mr. ridiculous! israel failed in yom kipur war? then how come we still live on the golan? it's a good thing your country asked the un to intevene on our way to damascus. we were 20 km away and could already smell the arab stench a mile away. we turned back because our olfactory senses overwhelmed us and frankly didn't feel that the sewer that is damascus fitted into the israeli beautiful country. what would israel do with millions of syrians that do not know how to read and spell? we couldn't afford to educate you all or it would have taken us years to do so in any case.
19. one truth
mike ,   usa,usa   (10.05.07)
The one bit of truth is this delusional rant is that Israel's postion will be weakened if the US abandons Iraq.
20. Syrian saving face. Ha!
Claudia ,   Tampa USA   (10.05.07)
Pathetic little weasles.
21. October war
pete smith ,   denver usa   (10.05.07)
After being humiliated in the 1967 war (the Arabs were soundly thrashed in just six days), their defeat in 1973 was seen by them as a moral victory: they hung on for three weeks before losing and were about to see the Israeli flag flying above Damascus. How pathetic that 34 years later, they still celebrate this "victory".
22. last encounter = october war ??? what about 1982??
Tobias   (10.05.07)
"...our last encounter with the Zionists proved a big success we still take pride in. I’m referring to the October War, ..." In 1982, more than 8 years after the "october war", syrian and israeli planes engaged in a big air battle. The Syrians lost 85 MiG jets (maybe even more), while Israel didn't lose any fighter jet !!! And the Syrians also lost their air defense missile batteries in the Lebanese Bekaa valley. REALLY A GREAT SUCCESS FOR THE SYRIANS - losing 0:85 !! It seems Syria prefers to forget and ignore this 1982 conflict.
23. october war = big success for syria?? nonsense!!
Tobias   (10.05.07)
"a big success we still take pride in. I’m referring to the October War, ..." "the biggest achievement he brought to Syria against Israel was the October War" So the "October War" was a big success and big achievement for Syria? 1. Although they surprised Israel badly and at first outnumbered the Israeli armored forces in the Golan at a Ratio of more than 7:1 (1300 syrian tanks vs. 180 isr. tanks), they couldn't break through to israeli population centers 2. After one week of fighting, all syrian forces were pushed back to the former ceasefire-lines or even into own territory 3. IDF advanced to 40 km from Damaskus, shelled the syrian capital with artillery, and 4. the israeli advance could only be stopped by the help of Jordanian and Iraqi forces. OK, this time the Syrians fought longer - they were defeated after one or two weeks, in contrast to only two days in 1967, so it was an improvement - but to call it a big achievement, a big success? Sounds like a sense of reality like Ahmadinejad ("no state of Israel", "no holocaust", "no gays in Iran", "no nuclear issue anymore", ..) or Nasrallah ("divine victory").
24. So it failed ?
Vicky ,   Ashkelon Israel   (10.05.07)
Q. Why the fuss? A. Because they had been sussed out. Such innocents.
25. "OUM EL MAA' REK"....????
Franklin ,   France   (10.05.07)
"...If Israel doesn’t change its policy, it will find itself going against Hizbullah in the north, Hamas in the south, and the Syrian army, which is allied with Iran,” Syrian parliament member Dr Mohammad Habash told the Israeli-Arab newspaper Kul-Alarab.........." SO WHAT...??? The Syrian and their terrorists/ prothesis are pushing Israel in the Mother of all the battles.... Stupid clowns...
