1. This is what will happen in Jerusalem.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (10.07.07)
We will have Kassam rockets & mortar fire in downtown Jerusalem. Who's going to stop them? Withdraw from the West Bank & divide Jerusalem? An independant Palestinian state? Total BS.
2. NON MENTION OF THE ROCKET ON NETIVOT!
BOBBY SOLO ,   ITALIA   (10.07.07)
3. Free some more terrorists and give away all of Jerusalem,
Joseph P. ,   Jerusalem   (10.07.07)
Tel-Aviv, etc. and there will finally be peace in Israel.
4. Move the knesset to the Negev where they'll grasp
Joseph P. ,   Jerusalem   (10.07.07)
the situation clearly. Obviously, Olmert and his gangsters have no idea what mortar shells and Qassam rockets are. The only solution is for them to see it "live".
5. I think we should return them several! They asked for It !

7. Israel survival under current leadership
chaim ,   miami beach usa   (10.07.07)
The real question must be asked does Israel have the right to survive in its current format and is Israel a true and free independent democracy, from where I sit the answer to both is a resounding NO. True democracy is as enunciated by President Abraham Lincoln, a Government for the “people by the people” According to the current leadership, it is a slave to outside irresponsible selfish individuals, who like the PM, FM, and the DM. have lost the fidelity of the people they swore to govern, and also have the lost the faith of an overwhelming majority of their population. The difference being Israel has no future because their current leadership will do anything no matter how abhorrent or publicly lie unabashedly, detain their own citizens who speak out against their perfidy, in their effort to retain their positions of authority, and surround themselves with weak ministers who know that in any true patriotic government they will loose their positions. Where is the lightning strike that “Barak” promised to give a measure of protection or engender any hope to the citizens he was appointed to protect. Is the one sided objection from a known anti Israel organization sufficient reason to break the promises to the long suffering citizens bordering Gaza, Or what will it take to even begin to impose the promised penalty against the terrorist supporting population. There are no innocent civilians in a war, the so called innocent civilians should move away from harms way and declare the entire zone from which rockets are able to reach Israel a FREE FIRE ZONE which means any thing that moves in that zone will be killed and cannon shells will be fired into that zone just to keep out any idiot that ventures into there and if longer range rockets are employed expand that “free fire zone.
8. Time to change the landscape
Daniel ,   Tel Aviv   (10.07.07)
Consider: Give Gaza away ask nothing in return and hope that the Arabs there will be happy and govern themselves peacefully. Oh wait we tried that...peace means Qassams and now Katayushas hitting Israel on almost a daily basis. Solution: Roll over Gaza with a military force so powerful that rubble and debris is all that is left. Disregard the local inhabitants and send those that survive to other Arab States. Result: Peace in Israel but the negative world view..Since when has the world had a positive view of Israel?
9. More Rocket Attacks on Israel
Brod ,   USA   (10.07.07)
Where is Barak? Will Israel continue to allow its enemy to hammer Israel with unrelenting rocket attacks? It is time Israel has a strong and brilliant government that can defend the nation and country from external threats and aggressions.
10. RE #8 - I reluctantly agree this IS the BEST solution
Christy ,   Boston, US   (10.07.07)
For many years I 'drank the koolaid' & really believed that Israel & the Palis could work out some sort of dual state agreement. I imagined Israel & the Palis enriching each other via trade. I finally awoke to the reality that Palis. don't want Peace With Israel as most everyone defines the term. Peace With Israel as defined by the Palis means Israel wiped off the map. I don't hate the 'everyday' Palis.. I feel very sorry for them because they are brainwashed against Israel from an early age & used as pawns by their own leaders. I wish I could see another way for Israel to have peace. A way that wouldn't cost so many lives. But, I have to admit that the solution you propose is the only one I believe will work. I detest the solution & would love to see it avoided ... but I can't see a way that will work. The Palis have never kept their end of any agreement. They can't be trusted to do so now.
11. And Olmert bends over and offers vaseline
redmiike ,   tel aviv   (10.07.07)
Let's get rid of Olmert and his totally embarrassing family. A wife who is left of Lenin; two sons who are cowards hiding in the US and a daughter in Machsom Watch. No wonder Olmert is castrated!!
12. Pal leaders don't mind Israeli reprisals
Sam ,   Canada   (10.07.07)
Palestinian leaders use the images of Israeli reprisals to send all over the Arab and Moslem world to gain sympathy and try to lure them into joining the fight against Israel. A better reaction would be to send new Israeli settlers into the West Bank. This bothers the Palestinians no end and shows that the Jews will not be driven away.
13. Katyushas in gaza??? Someone better ask Livni
Malcolm   (10.07.07)
How come she has kept silent after "negotiating" the Rafah border deal with the EU & Egypt. ... Quite simply because she is more interested in her long term political goals than Israel's security. If she opened her mouth she would only implicate HERSELF.
14. #11 Redmike - We're the ones bending over ...
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (10.07.07)
and without the vaseline. Not even a thank you, either. By the way, for once I'll be politically correct - this was not meant as a homophobic remark. And as for Olmert being castrated - well, again it is the Israeli public who have been rendered powerless by our crap political system. Olmert is going along his merry way, doing whatever he feels like & disregarding the wishes of the vast majority of Israelis. Zero accountability.
15. Maybe the penguins will leave the government ...
sk ,   USA   (10.07.07)
... if the Mea Shearim is hit.
16. discontinue supplying anything to gaza
Micha   (10.07.07)
17. free fire zone as contained in my #7
chaim ,   miami beach usa   (10.07.07)
The problem with Barak’s exclamation of Declaring Gaza as a Enemy Entity, is when was it not an enemy entity, the threat of Cutting off Israeli Supplied utilities is objected to by some perverse sense of such being a Violation of International Law and thus is unavailable to be used. It must be understood that the current leadership are so meticulous in the outside uncaring world accusing them of Violating any self proclaimed International Law and are careful in doing everything according to their code of conduct and adhere to the strict letter of the law (except when such violation produces a personal gain). So what to do that cannot be considered as a violation of International that was adopted in 1949, is the tactic used by non other then the United States of America in Viet Nam 1965-1973 after the adoption of international law. They created an area that was knows as a free fire zone which served as a place to tryout new ordinance, clear their weapons, drop any bombs still remaining after a combat mission, and of course shoot to kill any living moving human that ventured into such zone. These dedicated areas were adopted in any area that had enemy combatants, were they concerned if any civilians were killed in such zone, no, and that was because prior to declaring that area as a free fire zone they gave any person the ability to leave and if they choose not to well then the chance of being killed was very great. Do that and declare the entire distance of the rockets capability you will see a dramatic drop in rockets landing in Israel, saying it, but not doing it is the worst tactic that can be used, as the terrorists are prone to test the warnings issued by Israel, and until now Israel never followed through so why bother to fear the empty threats.
18. Now it's Katyushas...
Yakov ,   USA   (10.07.07)
Now the rockets are hitting the Negev? The Gaza pullout was a huge mistake whose consequences Israel is continuing to face. In the meantime, Shalit and the other soldiers continue trapped in Gaza. And Israel with it's current administration is now in a huge mess. Just when you thought it couldn't get any more complicated. If we strike, we put the capitve Soldiers at risk. If we outright retake all of Gaza, well, it will back to what it was before. A very uneasy, and difficult march back that may be indefinite. We need to go back into Gaza, unfortunately. It was something we needed to do at the time attacks are starting in Sderot. It's not fair to ask the poeple living along the border to live in an environment where they are constantly attacked. They deserve a good night's sleep.

David ,   Richmond VA.USA   (10.08.07)
Unfair is not stong enough to describe the criminal behavior of Isreals leaders who will not protect the people from the wild animals jn gasa. It has been said they abandon the people so they can eat better. If so soon they will be unable to eat.
20. The Basic Right of Self-Defence
meir elazar   (10.08.07)
Olmert has time after time proven that he is totally incompetent and unworthy of the position he holds. The elected officials have not taken the prudent step of "Voting No Confidence" and bringing down this despicable govt. As successful as IDF retalliation and counter-terrorism measures are, the Qassams and Katyusha continue to rain down on Sderot and now Netivot. These people are no less prisoners to terror than Shalit, Regev, and Goldvasser. They are entitled to the basic human right of self-defense. I would ask, no beg, that these people be allowed to use their ingenuity (an I am sure they and other Israelis who would jump at the opportunity) could quickly design the Israeli version of the Qassam and Katyusha so they could fight back in their self-defense. If they were allowed to fire back even one for one (eye for an eye) and make the Gazans understand the terror that the people of Sderot and surrounding feel, they would put a stop to it. So long as PRC, IJ, and others continue to fire rockets with total impunity, this is a crime against the people of Sderot and surroundings. LET THEM DEFEND THEMSELVES AND FIRE BACK!!!!!!!!!! p.s. The only person who is worse than Olmert is Carter who was the absolute worst President, if not person, that the world has seen. I recently learned from very high people in US govt. that Carter issued orders not to interfere with Cocaine drug dealers because cocaine is a "recreational drug" and is okay.
