How long did the Philistines vex the Children of Israel the first time around? 200 years from Joshua to David. Under Solomon there was real peace for the first and last time, based on a solid economic relationship, and then the Philistines disappear from Jewish History. Then, and only then did the real existential threat to Israel arise--in the form of a separatist movement; Israel and Judah split apart, lost its collective soul and the house divided became weak, subjugated and finally disinterred. Yes, Modern Israel will survive the depradations of the Modern Philistines, but it not survive another loss of its Jewish soul. We are ONE PEOPLE or we are not a People. The Land contains the Unity, but IT is not the Unity!
2. the survival of Israel

True democracy is as enunciated by President Abraham Lincoln, a Government for the “people by the people” According to the current leadership, it is a slave to outside irresponsible selfish individuals, who like the PM, FM, and the DM. have lost the fidelity of the people they swore to govern, and also have the lost the faith of an overwhelming majority of their population. Israel has no true future because, They are led by a cabal of traitors which eat out the substance and resiliency of the average citizen, like a cancer, they evoke fear in the hearts of any patriots, they create a defeatist atmosphere, the IDF is hobbled by this corruption, is restricted or the advice of their commanders are ignored by the political elite, the corruption is so ingrained that their current leadership will do anything no matter how abhorrent lie, cheat, are unethical, have no shame, unabashedly pervert the judicial system to give credence to their falsity, detain their own citizens who speak out against their perfidy, invite weak and irresponsible members to join their coalition of misgovernment, all done in their effort to retain their positions of authority, and thus surround themselves with weak ministers who know that in any true patriotic government they will loose their positions. The road to true peace with a theocracy is described in the Bible, when waging war against them do not stop until their entire society including their leadership is driven from the land otherwise any survivors will reenergize and become a thorn in you side. This theory is what the Moslems practice, this theory is what the Moslems understand, this theory is against all modern conventional rules, but when fighting any war a country must abide by the rules of engagement as dictated by their enemies and not by any other conventional rules that do not fit into this conflict. It is akin to one side lining up their forces in a straight line with ancient flint lock muskets and advancing against a well dug in camouflaged forces with the most modern weapons, hoping to overwhelm their enemies by their adhering to the established rules of war. The only thing such adherence will accomplish is the destruction of your army, your country, and you will either be killed or enslaved, that is the Rules of war the Moslems fight and understand. Absent that Israel, the western ideology of democracy will go the way of the Roman and Greek, Empires, into the dust bins of history.

I Hope So, but I am afraid by Israel's leaders giving away to much, that can be just as dangerous to the State of Israel. Ihttp://ralphsrant1.blogspot.com/

Of course Israel will survive ! G-d says so .Mitchell Bard is saying nothing new.
6. NO ONE KNOWS IF ISRAEL WILL SURVIVE!
DemocracyRules ,   Canada   (10.08.07)
THAT'S WHAT this 5000 year experiment is all about. There are no guarantees, and nothing is assured. The 'Hebrews' were not given a roadmap, only some rough guidelines on how to handle oneself in times of crisis. If the outcome was clear, it would not be an adventure, it would not be an experiment in human progress. So far, about the only 'known known' is that there is a possibility that evil can win.
7. Isreal will survive
Coulu ,   pakistan   (10.08.07)
i dont think there are immidiate threats to isreal now and Israel might survive .
8. Muslim nukes IS NOT THE GREATEST THREAT to Israel's survival
Ralph ,   London   (10.08.07)
It's the government of Israel with powerless leaders such as Olmert and Ramon who are willing to give away all of Israel to terrorists, which is the greatest threat to the country's survival. If Israel were to have courageous leaders, the Arabs would not dare to threat.
9. Israel
Alin ,   Bucharest,Romania   (10.08.07)
Some of the world believes Israel will not survive, based on the false identification with the crusaders. Well, they were conquerors who came for glory.Israel,on the other part,is regaining his home. Some burglars took its home, but now the master of the house is back with the ambition to make the house again his.Long live Israel!
10. I just checked Mr Bard's website and found
Jake T ,   Alaska   (10.08.07)
an interesting short article about water isues between Israel and Syria and Israel and the Palestinians. http://www.mitchellbard.com/ I also know that Syria has been restricting river water to Jordan. There have been some tensions there. It would be interesting to know how the water issue will play in future negotiations between Israel and its neighbors. The water issue alone is one of enough concern for Israel to refuse to give up the territories, including the Golan. Access to water by Israel could become a serious issue in the future.
11. Too Complacent.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (10.08.07)
People like to think that tomorrow will be a continuation of today. It's a kind of mental inertia. It's not necessarily true. The sad fact is that the unthinkable can happen.
12. Fraud
JD ,   Rocksonville   (10.08.07)
If Jehovah is little more than a fabricated fraud, what does this make Israel? The world is catching up to the dark con of man. What a waste all this has been and for what? A lie? Israel is the dark con of man.
13. Thank you sir

14. USA?
Lior ,   London   (10.08.07)
Attitudes, my father used to say, take a generation to change... and reach the man in the street. 25 years ago, I stood looking at a travel agent's window in London's West End and saw some members of the Revolutionary Workers' Party shout not anti-Zionist but anti-Semitic slogans at an El Al display in the window. I knew what was coming - I just didn't know when. 25 years seems in hindsight about right. Already, the largest number of the world's Jews lives OUTSIDE the USA and this demographic trend is accelerating - thanks in part to American Reform assimilation. In 25 years' time, what will be the impetus for Congress to give Israel that present level of support? What will be the result of emgering American indifference to Israel? And Jewish non-concern and failure to identify with Israel? These are the trends that do not bode well. Anti-Israel sentiment - fostered in the main by the liberal left in Europe -is now no more than polite shorthand for outright anti-Semitism. Israel's right to exist is questioned daily in our media. If this is the future - and there is every indication that it is - present American support cannot be guaranteed. It is not to America that commentators should look - it is to the rest of the world where the majority of Jews now live. And the view from here ain't quite so rosey.

Intersting, but there is one point where you are absolutely incorrect. Anti Isreali sentiment is not the same as Anti semitism. To say so is a cop-out and a weak attempt to try and end discussion and criticism. If it were so then it mean that this website and most of the people who add to the talk backs are plain and simply anti Muslim. But then again . . .

I didn't think it would be long for someone to come crawling out of the safety of their armchair to tell us that. We know. We know, Richard, that anti-Semitism needn't equate with anti-Israel sentiment. We know that each and every democracy under the sun is entitled to be criticized. We know that some of Israel's actions have been wrong. We know that. What I am tired of hearing is unfettered criticism of Israel to an obessive extent in the European (and largely leftwing) media - at the expense of much else that is wrong with the world. I am tired of hearing criticism of Israel that holds "the Jews" wherever they may be also responsible for the actions of a foreign and sovereign power. And I am also sick to death of discussing "Israel" only to hear age-old anti-Semitic remarks offered in lieu of facts. I am afraid that anti-Semitism is now more often than not masquerading under the guise of "anti-Zionism" and having now been abused on London's streets no fewer than 11 times in the last 12 months - two of which incidents constituted physical assault and in which I have been abused as "an Israeli" without anyone inquiring as to my nationality before they let rip, I am afraid that your remarks, although technically true, are now wide of the mark. And I note, following my experiences, that the first person to remind me of the nuance between "anti-Zionism" and outright "anti-Semitism" also lives in London...
