I met Aharon many years ago. He was and still is one of the most modest individuals I have ever met. Yet on stage he comes alive. He has the rare gift of being able to connect with the entire audience and pulling them into the flowing now of the music. When I first came to Israel, I left my american hippie roots behind, but I brought my tapes. I began to do tshuva but felt out of place in the "straight" religious world. Suddenly I discovered the world of alternative religious music. I find it far more compelling, creative, cutting edge, than the "been there done it but will repackage it anyway" world of Israeli music. The real hippies in Israel wear tchelet. The hip scene in Tel Aviv is driven by commercialism and skin deep beauty with no message other than selfishness. Israel once gave the world a shy "halleluya la'olam". Now we give them transvestiteslip-synching techno in some nonsense language. Or men kissing men and women kissing women while waving a Syrian flag. Aharon is a good friend, an amazing musican, a sparkling performer, and a Jew who loves his heritage. #1 should get to know him.
