1. Dejagah, you're on the right way
Tahl ,   Israel   (10.09.07)
...towards darkness, ignorance, hatred and repugnancy.
2. Germany should not have an iranian islamist in national team
Johnny ,   Stockholm, Sweden   (10.09.07)
Iranian islamists have nothing to do in Europe even. This has destroyed his career, which is such a joyful event. No club will pay to have an outspoken, unreliable islamist in their team.
3. Good - He's really Ugly - looks like a ferange from star tre
andrew ,   miami,fl   (10.09.07)
4. Ban him.
shuki   (10.09.07)
5. Ashkan Dejagah refusal to play in Israel...
Damon Besinsky ,   Ein Sarid, Israel   (10.09.07)
Let the SOB stay home together with the rest of the German team if they allow this to happen.
6. Ahhh...nothing like good ol fashin racism!

KMR ,   Middle East   (10.09.07)
9. Sack him. Choice not part of his contract
(10.09.07)
10. " I ask for understanding of my decision....
Uzziel   (10.09.07)
This is about very personal matters which pertain to my CLOSEST FAMILY MEMBERS" The player is hinting that he has been blackmailed by Iranian authorities by taking measures, we all know the nature of, against the members of his family living in Iran. The blame is not solely on him, the biggest blame is on the Eurabian authorities who do not assert their sovereign affairs.
11. Keep him in Germany...
Barry ,   Tokyo   (10.09.07)
He feels more at home with former Nazis.
12. racists like the player and people like 'debra'...
Chris ,   Germany   (10.09.07)
...disturb a peaceful friendly sport event. Nevertheless, it has to be seen that it is not a decision made only by the young player -it depends on his background (familiy, native country). So, although it should'nt be accepted, the difficult situation should be understood...
13. He shouldn't play
Bernhard ,   Germany   (10.09.07)
If he doesn't want to play in Israel, he shouldn't. The pro-Israel lobby is shaming him for boycotting jews. He doesn't do so. He is not coming to Israel to keep his family out of trouble. Shame on the lobby.
14. @2. Johnny
Trizeal ,   Hamburg Germany   (10.09.07)
i am afraid NOT many germans see in him kind of a leader-figure and praise him for finally showing & speaking out what alot of germans (still) think of jewish people... in an online-poll (www.spiegel.de) yesterday 50% of over 20000 people voted for "he should stay in the nationalteam" of cause not everybody of these is an outspoken antisemite - alot of them try to understand this poor guy, think we should see his circumstances, etc. *rolleyes* sorry for these news from the darklands...
15. Doesn't his contract say anything about
Glenn ,   Canada   (10.09.07)
political statements while doing his job? Or refusing to do his job due to political or religious beliefs? If not, all sport figures should have this issue addressed on their contracts.
16. Not clear why...
Joshua ,   Jersey City   (10.09.07)
...he is doing this. I absolutely abhor those who try to boycott Israel. But based on what he said, I wouldn't be surprised if his family members in Iran are in severe peril and that he has received notice that he has to do this.
17. #10, you may be correct, Iranian blackmail, threats,
David P. ,   Central Coast, USA   (10.09.07)
I'd buy that, if he is being blackmailed and family members are threatened then it is understandable. It is quite possible it is as you say and for this reason I'll with hold my criticism even though he appears to be acting as an agent for anti-Israel propaganda.
18. whats the big deal?
JL   (10.09.07)
we do not need scum littering our field by vermin like this
19. He is afraid.
withheld ,   Copenhagen, Denmark   (10.09.07)
No one should be forced to play in Israel if they do not want to. He is afraid of what might happen to him if he enters on an Iranian passport. Which means, that he only expects that of Israel, which Iran might do. I hope his has a change of heart, and learns what a great country Israel is, and what a warm people the Israeli people are.
20. Fire Him Without Further Discussion
Bill Foonman ,   Jacksonville, USA   (10.09.07)
Dejagah should be fired without further discussion. Since when do players dictate to management what games they will or will not play simply for political reasons? This coward didn't even have the guts to come clean and blamed his decision on "personal reasons."
21. Sad state of events in Eurabia.
DR ,   Florida, USA   (10.09.07)
It is really sad to see that racism like this still exists in Europe and the MIddle East. Education in our time has a long way to go. The league, team and his county should all look down upon this behavior and discourage racism and anti-semiticm anywhere in the world. I know this is a lot to ask from Eurabia, but it has to happen for our world to improve.
22. Spoken like a true German!
Jack ,   San Diego, USA   (10.09.07)
23. Missing from the comments
Jared ,   Toronto, Canada   (10.09.07)
Anyone wonder what the punishment would be for his family back in Iran if he played in Israel? i guess that could explain why he might not want to play! Who cares if he plays or not - he's not the best German player - he's inconsequential! I think this is making a mountain out of a moehill(sp?)
24. Germany does not allow Dual Nationality.
Semsem ,   New York, USA   (10.09.07)
Is this bimbo a German or Iranian. It seems he is Iranian so he should go play for Iran and be sacked.
25. European Muslims being brainwashed
Liliane ,   Brighton, UK   (10.09.07)
Many young Muslims in Europe are being brainwashed by money from Saudi Arabia / mosques / foreign born Imams sent from the Arab countries. This is scary. Today it's Israel and the Jews. Tomorrow it will be the rest of Europe.
26. A Sickening Excuse. No Danger in Israel
Laila ,   Montreal, Canada   (10.09.07)
What a pathetic idiot to give the excuse that asd a German Iranian his safety is in danger. Sickening. He should be fired. Let this jerk play for Iran. He has chosen Iranian over German citizenship.
27. knowing how oppressive the Iranian regime is
Rami ,   Nazareth, Israel   (10.09.07)
I can understand this guy's concern for his and his family`s well being if he visits Israel.
28. He's just afraid of the Jews winning the game!
(10.09.07)
29. Thats Cool Event
Alexander ,   TX   (10.09.07)
30. Let's take another perspective.
Mike Jefferson ,   Washington, D.C.   (10.09.07)
Personally, I could care less about this idiot's statements, but his actions speak legions as to what kind of society he lives in both in Germany and Iran. In Germany, this soccer player is surrounded by Islamofascists who are running rampant in that country. Undoubtedly, Dejagah has received death threats and has been prescribed the Van Gogh necktie by his lovely community. I'm also sure that he has received "friendly" communications from his family in Tehran warning him not to play against the "Zionest" regime. All in all, this episode highlights the regressive, "fear"-based societies of Germany and Iran. What other messages does one really expect from the perpetrators of the 20th century Holocaust and those who are hopeful to try to duplicate those efforts in the 21st century?
