1. Kaplinsky: Invade Gaza
Nora ,   Tel Aviv   (10.11.07)
and leave West Bank to the toothless "Big Mouth "Abbas.
2. Duh, deputy IDF chief speaks the truth
eddie ,   london UK   (10.11.07)
the reason behind this malaise.. for the political leadership, the citizens of Israel are just pawns in their own egotistical game. on top of that, there is incompetence, and the skill of talking falsehood. hence barak talks tough but does not take much action. If he were leader, he would be identical to Olmert, except for being militarily expereinced but nonetheless incompetent.
3. Rockets on Sderot? Who cares? Nobody important lives there

7. bomb gaza from air! disengagment was the problem
mo ,   jerusalem   (10.11.07)
Better preparations before the disengagement? Maybe the disengagement itself was the problem! Maybe if you hadn't abandoned the security zone two years ago you won't have to return now and Sderot won't be in shambles. And ground troops is only asking for casualties. There are ways to destroy Gaza from the air and not a single soldier has to die.
8. Kaplinsky
Colonel Jed Walton ,   Fort Dix N.J.   (10.11.07)
The General is finally expressing what every sargent in the US military would clearly see. Running away from your enemy under fire would embolden the enemy. The only explanation for Kaplinsky's endorsement of the doomed to falure Disengagement is that he wanted to curry favor with Sharon and the other failed General Halutz. In the USA, Kaplinsky would face immediate retirement.
9. STOP Asking permission from US
Marcel ,   Florida   (10.11.07)
Israel has been on the short leash of president Bush and has had to get permission to defend the nation. The limited nature of Israel's response to kassem missiles is because of U.S. restraint on israel. They don't want Israel to defeat the Palestinian threat and so always cry about disproportinate use of force. This should not have been allowed to happen in the first place and now Israel has allowed herself to be controlled by dubious outside forces .
10. Some people are in favor of IDF's invasion
Howard K ,   NYC   (10.11.07)
of Gaza as a favor to Abbas. They want the IDF to suffer casualties for the sake of handing Fatah, a defeated or softened Hamas. If the IDF is going to risk casualties, it should be for the retaking of Gaza, for the end to Disengagement, for a reversion to the former status quo at the very least, and for annexing Gaza as an intermediate stage to a safer and better alternative for Israel. Israelis should not be used to do the dangerous work for Abbas. "...disengagement should be viewed in the long term and not with a simplistic attitude" says Mr Kaplinsky. It would be enlightening to know what he has in mind for the long term with one or two terror states next door. Those of us with such "simplistic attitudes" as seeing the Disengagement as a major mistake would be appreciative. Maybe the residents of Sderot too would appreciate learning of his complex view of the issue as well.
