31. #19 And Israel's attitude is better?
Tom   (10.16.07)
Building settlements in the occupied territories, even intensifying their construction during the Oslo period, and declaring never to share Jerusalem with the Palestinians doesn't seem like Israel is interested in peaceful coexistence with the Palestinians either. The thing is that BOTH sides need to change their attitudes if there is to be peace. The fact that you don't seem to be able to change your attitude doesn't mean that a sufficient number of Israelis and Palestinians are unable to change theirs.
32. to #29 Apartheid---BS
Brooke   (10.16.07)
Your country didn't want the "palis" either and they don't want them now. Do you know your own history and how your King Hussein slaughtered them because they wanted more power not that long ago??. You write with forked tongue. If only there was apartheid, Israel wouldn't have to put up with the Jew hating violence. When the wall will be completed the arab Israelis will fight to the death to not be on the side of the corrupt and murderous "palis". Get real.
33. sits in the back of the mind
Yehuda ,   Holit, Israel   (10.17.07)
These very thoughts run in the back of my mind as I look across the border. I believe the arab world is preparing the endgame for us and we have lost our edge. A decade ago I had my hopes but it is clear to me the intentions of our enemies. It is good to read someone who can lay the cards on the table. Each and every one of us must ask himself how much he loves this country and what he is willing to do to preserve it.
34. AMEN! Vote for option #2! Diplomacy=G-d gave Israel to Jews.

35. Nazi-Arab connection should be highlighted
Dr Dan Gilaadi   (10.18.07)
Israelis should understand that Jewish sovereignty even in one miniscule state will never be accepted by the Arabs since it contradicts their Islamic outlook about the second-class nature of the Jews (see e.g. Bat Yeor and many other experts). Also if one realizes the Arab-Nazi connection, one easily realizes that no amount of concessions would bring peace. Again all the experts concurr. See for example: http://www.spme.net/cgi-bin/articles.cgi?ID=3008 Note he writes: "Some observers claim that political concessions by Israel would be enough to stop anti-Jewish hate-mongering within the Arab-Islamic world. They are wrong." For otheressays on this connection (see also Prof. Gil-White publications) see e.g. http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/Printable.aspx?GUID=E985B271-A76A-4A9D-9AC9-ED5D84BDA37F http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1191257219018&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FPrinter One option is to let all Arabs in Western Palestine vote to parliament in Amman (territorial continuity is not required in many other countries e.g. North Ireland in the UK, Alaska in the US, etc.). But note that 14 million were exchanged between India and Pakistan (and one million died in the process). Half of a similar population exchange was done already when Jews from Arab countries were displaced thousand of miles from places they preceded the Arabs. So to complete the population exchange would mean Arabs moving within Palestine only i.e. to Eastern Palestine, to "Tran-Jordan", called today 'Jordan". Of course since the Arabs say they are one nation only (and therefore deserve one state only), they can move to any of the 22 states (21 states extra!!), and not necessarily to the Palestinian Arab state that exists already in Jordan.

ephraim ,   diaspora   (10.18.07)
I get so sick of hearing all this idiotic blather about "occupied territory". Read your history. Occupied territory so called is a myth. Jordan is the state of the Palis. Israel belongs to the Children of Jacob, plain and simple. You, quite frankly don't have a clue what you are talking about so do us all a favor and shut up.
38. #32
GUH   (10.18.07)
Do not say that Israel does not practice apartheid. There is most certainly apartheid conditions in Palestinian territories occupied by Israel. While illegal settlements are built, transferring and housing tens/ hundreds of thousands of citizens in violation of international law; Palestinian homes, which could take around ten years’ salary to build, are quickly demolished by Israeli bulldozers. I think the number of homes demolished since ’67 stands at 16000-18000, rendering large numbers of Palestinians homeless. Further, settlers freely exercise violence and vandalize, for example, the Palestinians’ source of water; in Hebron, 500 of them can freely roam around while there are restrictions for the 180,000 Palestinians there; Settlers are also directly responsible for massacres at Al-Aqsa mosque and the Ibrahimi mosques; Settlers may drive using any car they wish while Palestinians need a permit to drive, even between villages. There are even well paved roads for “Jews only”; basically this suggests that a minority is subjugating the majority in a racist manner. The wall also is racist in that it snakes through Palestinian territories, constituting a massive land grab; thousands of farmers’ land was razed to build the wall which separates many Palestinians from their orchards, water supply, etc… so yes, Israel practices a vicious form of apartheid that people like Mandela and Desmond Tutu have found appalling and eerily similar to apartheid-era South Africa. Consider this.
39. Hamas can finish Israel
John ,   London,UK   (10.19.07)
Israel can no longer take all of Palestinians areas. It cant even take on Hamas. Israel is too scared to try anything with Hamas now. Hamas has taken Iran as its patron and remodelled itself on Hezbollah. We all know what Hezbollah did to Israel. Israeli Army Chief was made to resign and Defence Minister sacked after what BBC calls a bloody nose from Hezbollah. Hamas is growing strong by the day while Israeli leaders sit on their thumbs and wait for US to do something. Israel looks powerless before the rise of Hamas. It tried everything last years from starvation to daily bombardment of Hamas. Nothing scared them. They simply took over Gaza from where they threaten Israel all the time. Israel has now got used to living with its foes. Israel's deterrence is now lost after defeat against Hezbollah. No one now fears Israeli military who according to British press were forced to flee from Lebanon in last days of the war.
40. CONQUER or CAPITULATE
joe   (10.25.07)
For good or bad, I believe in the last paragraphs. It is impossible to change a population fed on hatred and killing. The successful "brainwashing" of the Nazi's youth is a testimony of the need to eradicate this type of cancer from the civilised world. The mess we're in: the Iranians purchased 20 jets from the Chinese, capable of reaching Israel WHO sold them the blueprints. They (the Chinese) ordered 20 engines(from same prints)from the Russians who will deliver them to Ahmadinejad...........!The Americans(IBM,FORD,etc.)sold vital materials to Hitler during the war---Israel trained the armed forces & police (today's killers)of Iran under the Shah, same in S. America & Africa.---The peace loving Swiss sold weapons to Nazis, Fascists during the war for billions$$$.---The Vatican, under the flag of "Jesus" , gave & opened escape roads to 1000's of fleeing criminal Nazi HEROES from JUSTICE.( as they say, it takes one to know one).TODAY, with the debate about the billions in gas deal between the British, Israelis, Palestinians if approved will give HAMAS the $$ required to buy rockets, tanks, ships in order to retake "their country",AND yet, every Jew driving a car is giving billions to their foes, since most oil is from arab sand............! Last but not least, If I was an Arab, I would give to the Jewish State billions and billions free, including fuel so they can buy ALL the cars they want. It's an economical way to induce "self destruction". THEN, all they have to do is "walk in". That's the way the world is, was, and will be.
