During his prison term in Israel, Samir Kuntar was given "Palestinian" citizenship as a an example of Arab heroism, received an education, married an Israeli-Arab woman with whom he had two children. The commander of the Christian forces was Eli Hubeika, whose fiance was brutally murdered by the Muslims. Eli Hubeika later became a minister in the Syrian government. Apparently, Hubeika worked for Syrian intelligence, perpetrating Sabra and Shatilla in order to cause Israel's defeat and Sharon's defamation in the 1982 Lebanon war.
