It has happened in my company too when people consistently show up late to replace people on guard duty. And these are Jews. It's annoying as hell to deal with people like that.

This incident should be carefully investigated and strict justice should be served. Additionally, the media should be careful not to aim for a sensational reporting style. It is an alarming story, more so for the dedicated work that fellow Druze soldiers contribute towards our shared country. Immediate steps should be taken by the government to both defuse actions by renegade leaders (including Druze) that seek to escalate tension, and also to quietly educate our people about the remarkable history and connection between the Jewish & Druze people.

As a Jewish American, I would like to express my sincerest regrets to and sympathy with the Druze community. The loyalty to Israel demonstrated by the Druze community leaves worldwide Jewry and Israel greatly in their debt. I find this behavior appalling and repugnant, both for its racist nature and because it so wrongly betrays the loyalty demonstrated by the Druze community. I hope that Israel will impose the most severe of penalties on the perpetrators to discourage such behavior in the future. Furthermore, I hope that Israel will more appropriately repay the camaraderie of the Druze community, and that this incident will become a cause for the strengthening of relationships between the Jewish and Druze communities rather than a cause for further discord.

Even if the Druze soldiers had said something insulting (which I am not excusing!), the other soldiers should have shown more discipline and simply reported the breach of rules to their commanding officer. This 'taking the law into their own hands' is unacceptable!
