This is no sudden conversion to moderation (although that is the attempted spin of this article). He is ONLY talking about tactics, not goals. I even think the translation is wrong - he probably didn't mean strategy, he meant tactics. The gist of his comment is that Hamas would be stronger (& better able to fight us) if they had remained in a Unity gov't with Abbas. They would have had more influence, forcing Abbas to be even less concilliatory (is that possible?). At the same time, they would not have the responsibility of running Gaza - power without responsibility is quite appealing (just ask our Knesset members). Would it have blocked peace talks? Perhaps temporarily - but we all know the EU, the UN, & even the US would eventually tell us to talk to Hamas & of course, give them aid (humanitarian, of course) anyway. They would have been joined by a chorus of our own morons chanting "peace, peace, blah, blah "- that's for sure. So this is not a Hamas member suddenly becoming "moderate" - the goals remain the same - which is our elimination. Make no mistake about it.

This could be a ploy, an opening move, on the part of some Hamas faction, to open dialogue with Abbas. Since they're convinced (as is almost everyone on Earth) that Annapolis will fail, they are preparing the way for a new unity gov't. - in preparation for a new intifada. If so, this was a deliberate "leak" to test the waters (our politicians do it all the time).

We all know what their end game is and we need to continue ISOLATING all of Gaza. The Gazans are Hamas' prisoners not ours. TOO BAD, SO SAD. Thanks to Sharon's disengagement they are not our problem. Let the cowardly people take a stand against Hamas or pay the price. Arab silence to Arab terror is causing deafness to the pleas of their people. We don't care anymore. The US doesn't care anymore.
