1. Israel should keep very firm in its right decision!
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (10.28.07)
Let them starve to learn how to behave!Let them learn what to do with their lives without being our parasites! They can wheather build a decent life or take a boat to another muslim country with the same sanguinary ideals of them. But FAR FROM US! We don't have to sacrifice ourselves anymore.Enough! Our people don't have to suffer from shocks, desabilities in learning from our children, material and human damage, all in the name of not "collectively punishing"these beasts. Let them go to hell! They "collectively"have chosen this.If they were humans and not poisonous animals, they would stop the suffering they are trying to impose to Israel. Israel would be too stupid to keep supplying these beasts in their way to weaken and damage us!
2. Horrible writing, terrible editing
JPS ,   Efrat   (10.28.07)
"The human rights groups"???? Helloooooo?????? What human rights groups? Who signed the petition? What are the names?
3. THESE PARASITIC HR IDIOTS!. ..
stude ham   (10.28.07)
WHY AREN'T THEY PETITIONING THE PALI HIGH COURTS TO STOP THE HAMAS ROCKETRY AGAINST ISRAEL??? Right! There are no courts in the lawless hamas-fatah camps. and even if there were pali courts their preverted logic of pure hatred would still come out as bomb the israelis no matter what!
4. Where is their concern for Israeli human rights!
Marcell ,   Nir-Am   (10.28.07)
Another Kassam just fell 100 meters from my home, where my two children lay sleeping. What about THEIR rights?
5. Human Rights
Neal Rothner ,   Hashmonaim, Israel   (10.28.07)
Reducing gasoline supplies and cutting off some electic power is only a first step in bringing attention to the "common folk" to press their elected leaders to rethink their misguided policy regarding quasam aggression toward Israeli citizens and property. Neal the Hasmonian
6. Who are the human rights groups?
Micha   (10.28.07)
this reporting sucks and is just plain immoral. If somebody accuses Israel, then the accused are named, not just called "rights groups." Just plain stupid. In addition, I never seem to hear from these "rights groups" when Sderot or Ashkelon or any other area within Israel are being shelled. Where the fuck are you groups? huh? where are you when Jews are suffering at the hands of yet another group of arabs? Where????? Exactly. NOWHERE. you keep quiet until the Jews get upset and decide to take their lives in their own hands. Screw you. That's the anwer. Next time, speak up. You know that famous saying from the Holocaust don't ya? Well, we won't be rehearsing it anymore and we do remember it even if your history lessons forgot it.
7. Not collective punishment
J K ,   NYC, USA   (10.28.07)
The bombing of Dresden was collective punishment. Limiting the supply of fuel into Gaza will force the government and people to put it towards keeping their lights on and engines running and not buiding rockets to launch at Israel and use to trade for weapons. The only collective punishment being meted out to the Fakestinians is that now they will have to think harder if they want butter or guns.
8. What's wrong with collective punishment?
Steve ,   US   (10.28.07)
Palestinians elected Hamas. Germans elected the Nazi party and Hitler. The Allies collectively punished the German people with fire-bomings / terror-bombings of German cities. Night after night American and British bombers unloaded thousands of tons of incendiary explosives over German cities. Hamburg, Dresden, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Berlin, etc..... Hundreds of thousands of Germans were incinerated in the resulting collective punishment. Many more thousands were maimed and left homeless. This is war. Allies felt justified and vindicated. What is Israel doing by comparison? What do you think the Allies would say to these sorts of groups had they had the gall to complain? American citizens and British citizens might have publicly lynched these do-gooders were they around complaining during the second world war.
9. They Have No Right
RickD ,   USA   (10.28.07)
There is no right to electricity 24/7 based on international law. If Israel chooses to turn off the power part of the time, FOR ANY REASON, they can do so. In parts of Iraq they only have power for 8 hours/day. Should they petition the Security Council to get more? This is no more collective punishment than telling your teenager to get a job instead of agreeing to an increase in their allowance. If the Pals want the power restored they know what to do. Agree to the intnl community's three requirements and stop firing the rockets. Simple. Anything less than that, eat sand.
10. Courts should have no jurisdiction.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (10.28.07)
Security issues & foreign relations (Gaza is a foreign, hostile entity, by law) should not be within the jurisdiction of the court. The courts cannot usurp the powers of the Knesset in the conduct of foreign relations. As for the various peace groups, they should be investigated re: sources of income & that income should be subject to special taxation. And if any foreign nationals are employed by these "human rights" groups, their visas should be revoked.
11. petition to prevent reduction of fuel to Gaza
ISSY DYKMAN ,   ISRAEL GANEI TIKVA   (10.28.07)
Gaza is at war against Israel. The people of Gaza voted Hamas in to power. Therefore Israel has the right to do all in order to defend it's citizens. Don't reduce supplies of gas, fuel ,water and electricity. Cut them off all together. Wake up it's a matter of survival.
12. The Ratifies That Cutting Energy Supply Was Correct
Lou Bennet ,   Dallas, SUA   (10.28.07)
ISRAEL, turn the lights out now !
13. these goody goody fools need to come into the real world
zionist forever   (10.29.07)
These lovey dovey misguided human rights need to remeber that Israel is under no international legaly bounding treaties or anything else obligating it to supply fuel to Gaza its an act of goodwill. The palestians want to abuse that goodwill then lets stop giving it and tell them to get their fuel elsewhere. They wanted indipendence from Israel so we gave them Gaza to rule themselves be responsible for their own actions so now let them be responnsible for getting their own fuel if Israel wont give it and take responsibility for their actions learn they fire rockets we pull the plug not play the nice guys. Gaza is an enemy entity and giving fuel to Gaza increases their ability to launch wars on Israel. Less gas means less ability to carry rockets to launch sites because of fuel shortages, less electricty also limits terrorist ability to operate. Where are your petitions demanding the rocket attacks against the citizens of Sderot stop isnt that a human rights issue? If these idiots are so concerned about palestian rights then get them to live in Sderot for a few weeks. Cutting fuel supplies isnt against human rights it makes life harder but they wont all drop dead .. for thousands of years people lived without elecitry and managed just fine. The palestians will just have to learn to adapt and instead just reduciing fuel supplies Israel needs to give them a few days without anything and then tell them we will turn the lights back on but for every rocket you fire we cut you off for half an hour and at the end of the day we add up how many rockets you fired the previous day and cut the fuel for that amount of time next day and we wont say what time. No other country in the western world would accept daily rocket attacks and continue to supply fuel to the enemy. In other countries the fuel supplies would have been cut in full long ago and Israel needs to do the same not worry about these human rights groups who live in their own little world where everybody wants to love each other. Wake up join the real world we dont all love each other and if you want a cause to fight for then do something about the colective punishment in Sderot where every single man, woman and child is attacked by rockets daily by arabs who just want to love us.
14. What else I would pettition the High Court
Robert Tilden   (10.29.07)
Perhaps the Gaza Election held 2 years ago also should be declared void, It caused harm on both Israelis and Palestinians. Perhaps the high court should also negate desitions made by Yasser Arafat or the Nazi Mufti of Jerusalem in the 1930's and 1940's. The Courts have no room in these issues, they are policy driven, not within the relm of the courts. The human rights should pettition the Hamas government in Gaza to change their ways. Israel is not bound to save lives in Gaza, there are starving people all over the world that Israel doesn't send food to. Will the courts call on the government to send aid to Somalia or to Chad? And these countries don't lob rockets into Israel.
15. With all the billions of $'s the Pals have been
vicky ,   ashkelon israel   (10.29.07)
given by the world, they should have built their own power stations. Sod their human rights, they couldn't care a tinkers cuss about ours. The worst ones are our own lefty, peace now lot. They will be the first to go if the Arabs had their way, and the idiots cant see it because they are so up their own political arses.
16. a petition to reduce qassam attacks anyone? anyone?
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (10.29.07)
why do i only hear crickets?
17. how about a pack baueretition TO KEEP THE POWER OFF forever
jack bauer ,   I VOTE FOR ???   (10.29.07)
I VOTE for no more free power for making rockets I vote for traitors to be expelled from the land I vote for a no nonsense policy towards terror I vote for a single undivided land with Jerusalem as its eternal capital I vote for terrorist murderers to be given the death penalty if they are proven guilty I vote for ynets editors to stop publishing every piece of left wing drivel they can get their hands on.....as long as it tries to make jews look bad. I vote that not one single concession be given to terrorists and those that put them in power! There must not be any rewards for continuing terror
18. Let them make their own power and dig for wells.
Petra ,   usa   (10.29.07)
What they need is called "A JOB". They've had 60 years to become independent. A good rule of thumb is, "Don't bite the hand that feeds you". They continue to fire rockets into Israel, what the hell do they expect, candy? Shut the power, fuel, and think about the water. Why? Let the rich 'leaders' buy it for them. They have plenty of money, they, like Arafat, want every penny for attacks on Israel. ( Such greedy bastards)
19. Collective Punishment: So What's The Problem?
emanon ,   USA   (10.29.07)
Israel is being collectively punished by the rain of missles in Sedrot. What's the difference? Stop the rain of rockets and the power goes back on. Simple.
