33. Turkey's real view of separation
Ahavah ,   East Coast, USA   (11.06.07)
The comments from the apparently Turkish person are amusing. From wikipedia: "One of the articles in the constitution was the creation of separate local municipalities so that Greek and Turkish Cypriots could manage their own municipalities in the big towns. This article of the constitution has never been implemented by the Republic and president Archbishop Makarios. In response to the Greek-backed coup Turkey invaded the island in 1974 and seized the northern third of the island, Turkish Cypriots in the south would travel north and Greek Cypriots in the north would move south. The de facto state of Northern Cyprus was proclaimed in 1975 under the name "Turkish Federated State of Northern Cyprus". The name was changed to its present form on 15 November 1983. The only country to formally recognise The "Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus" is Turkey. Turkey repeatedly violates numerous UN Resolutions "[1]" and refers to the Republic of Cyprus as the "Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus" and refuse formal recognition against the international and European law." So not only is Turkey actually in favor of separate homelands when it suits their purpose, they are also in favor of making people move to a new "homeland" when it suits them. So how is this different from the state of Israel, exactly? Why shouldn't those former citizens of Egypt, Syria and Jordan (the so-called "palestinians") move to other areas of their real former homelands, if it's ok for the greeks to have to move from the Turkish half of Cyprus? An Aside: The Muslims certainly have made an entire career or taking over other people's lands and then claiming they were "always" muslim - what do you think the riots in India were about a year or so ago? The Muslims razed down their shrines, built mosques on them, and then claimed they had always been there - same thing they're doing at the Temple Mount - the same thing they're doing with the land of Israel, making a false claim that they were there first. But the so-called "palestinians" had Jordanian, Eqyptian, and Syrian birth certificates, passports, and travel documents prior to the creation of Israel. So they have homeland - they can move there if they aren't interested in upholding a Jewish state. If it's fine for the greeks, it should be fine for the muslims, too.
