35. conjugal visits. WHY?
charicleia   (11.02.07)
it all started, of course, with allowing conjugal visits. why should a lifer convicted of a capital crime (and a particularly heinous one at that) be allowed to 'be fruitful and multiply?' it's a travesty to begin with. and so this brit is just the second act of what should never have been permitted in the first place.

we live now in the 21 century, and not in the middle age, where thieves and murders lived in cellars for years whithout any dayligt. amir is still a murder and he has to be treated as a murder, but not like in the middle age as you propose to treat him.
37. to 21 and 32 in real hebrew it sounds BRIS.
ami ,   rosh ha-ayin israel   (11.02.07)
only E. ben Yehuda (i hope you remember who that was ) teached us that the ת without a דגש and the ת with דגש are both called taf. you should remember that ת without dagesh is called SAF,and only with dagesh ת is called TAF. an old yemenite granfather will never say BRIT MILA, he says BRITH MILO ,the ת in ברית pronounced nearly like the TH in english ,and מילה there is a kamats under the ל and that is called O . so please 21 and 32 go and learn our language ,and not only the ashkenasim say bris.go on 21 and 32 and learn the habits of the jewish peaple.

39. Proper Hebrew and English
meir elazar   (11.03.07)
Israel established Hebrew as its official language a very long time ago (i.e. Eliezer Ben Yehuda) along with Sepharadit as the official pronunciation. The government established Va'a HaLashon to preserve the Holy Language and address the proper ways to encorporate new words into the language faithful to grammar, structure, and so forth. The broadcasters on TV and radio had to go through extensive training and their Hebrew was absolutely wonderful to hear. On occasions we were treated with the eloquence of Yitzchak Navon and others with impecable Hebrew. Today I am apalled that Vered Luvitch violates the official national standard for Hebrew in his writing. I would expect a journalist in Israel in a premiere newspaper such as YNET to use proper official Hebrew when using Hebrew and proper English when using English. While I might understand that very old people who learned Hebrew in the ghettos of Europe are incapable of learning Sepharadit pronuciation and the education system of America does a pitiful job in teaching Hebrew to the children, there is no excuse for Vered Luvitch in Israel not using proper official Hebrew. I would hope that YNET would set down official guidelines for its journalist to preserve the highest standards of journalism in both content and presentation, using proper Hebrew and English as appropriate.
